This is the most disgusting disrespectful thing I've heard. First of all it's called RESPECT for the citizens. A police officer is a public servant. He works at the behest of the mayor who is elected by the people. People need to really put petty politics aside. Mayor Johnson had every right to be present, as a representative of the citizens of Chicago. Shame on this family! The slain officer belongs to the citizenry. He made a public service commitment. Part of his oath was allegiance to the U.S. constitution and its laws. The officer also swears to follow and observe the chain of command. Policies and politics aside this was a disgrace and embarrassment to the city of Chicago for these people to behave in such a petty manner. As the leader of the city Mayor Johnson should have forcibly attended on behalf of Chicago residents. Grow the hell up and show some respect would be my statement to the family!
