- I have an obsession for the novel "North and South"( by Elizabeth Gaskell ), which from 1975 I read many, many times. Every time I noticed other features.
This video is dedicate to my most favorite film, "North and South" and most favorite actor, Richard Armitage
I tried to capture the romance from their eyes .
I love John Thornton loving Margaret, desperate, no hope. Words are superfluous.

They're possibly the most perfect classic novel couple of all time. This is a beautiful homage to them. Thank you Maddy!
It is certainly my favourite adaptation of any novel. John & Margaret are so well matched. I could watch it constantly & never tire of it.
These two on screen chemistry is so real! Love them both!

I love this series so much! Just finished watching it for the 40th time. It seems every time I watch it I see it from a new angle, which is what makes it so re-watchable. The only thing I would've added to make the series perfect in my mind would be a conversation btn Mr. Thornton & Mr. Hale during one of their classes where we got to see the side of Mr. Thornton that's opposite to his harsh, no-nonsense side as a master, the side that's more like a little boy: curious about the world, inquisitive, and sensitive.

I can't believe this was filmed in 2004 and now 2016 I'm watch it for the first time and I can't stop of watching. I love all the episode and the last episode was awesome. I love Richard (Thornton)!!! I want a man who loves me in that way!!!

This is my favorite mini-series of all time. It was unforgettable and Richard Armitage pulled at my heart as if he was right in front of me. I bought the DVD but it's always on loan to get new converts.
Beautiful video you put together. Their chemistry was perfection. That last scene on the bench at the depot...as she is nervously giving excuses of why she can help and how it is simply 'business', my God! The adoration on his face as he looks at her! He knows that he is to become an emotionally rich, rich man. Don't we all want the person we love to look at us the same way? With such value and heart? It can't get any better.
I love both the book and the miniseries. The only thing I feel missing from the miniseries is showing us Margaret's growing love & longing. Things like, quoting the book: ...questioning within herself, if no one in all the crowd missed her, (not Higgins, she was not thinking of him)". Or this one, about her relationship with Sholto: "They gave her a taste of the feeling that she believed would be denied to her forever". She knows only Thornton will do, but he already asked, she rejected him.
I'm obsessed with it, too. This adaptation is the best period drama I've ever seen. And beautifully filmed. Thank you for this!

I always admire how they set the screen on fire just with just a little touch, that party scene where he shakes hands with her and than that lingering touch, and intense gaze, just so amazing, goosebumps, RA is an incredible actor..👍🏻 I truly miss him on screen..
I didn’t just ‘like’ this I loved it ❤️ I never saw the series when it was on, but I’m now fascinated with their story….. that look from John, if that could be bottled into a perfume, we would all be buying it, just wow! 👍😻 one of my cats looks at me like that sometimes & it’s pure joy ❤️💕👍😻😉

Have just found this series,it is so lovely especially the way they look at each other at the station,the smile when he realises she's coming home with him is just gorgeous such great acting just lovely to watch over and over again.

So beautiful, amazing video👌🏻 I am madly in love with these two, Mr Thornton is such an amazing man, how can one not fall in love with him, the way RA played this role, incredible, they both lived these characters. Never seen anything so beautiful, truly a work of art.. direction, story, background score, acting everything is perfection here..and the last kiss, I melt every time I watch that scene.
I love English literature. I read the book after watching the miniseries , it's so wonderful, the characters, their way of life , so real.

His way of healing her always so deep and intense ... my god what would I give to be looked at so by my man!
I didn't think that anything can be close to Jane Eyre or Pride and Prejudice ( how ignorant of me) but this knocked me down completely. Excellent BBC drama. You did a great editing job and thanks from the bottom of my heart. It warms my existence just watching it.

For me, English literature from the romantic period is a constant source of inspiration, but I don't make more clips because, YT wiped most of them. It remained a few but I don't know for how long. of course , I really like this video and love the story, thank you so much fro teh upload. Thins kind of story I want, some romantic and some challenging. I like a girl in a story where she is not just a clown but has her own dignity, fight backs of undesirable words from others and strong to stand and believe what right for her. This drama is just perfect. Hoping more dramas like this.

Get fed up with it, along with poldark and pride and prejudice, it has to be the most romantic and real show, i could believe i was in the story and all 3 shows had the most handsome of men in the lead roles and all 3 very believable as the men they portray. Still love richard armitage followed by aidan turner in poldark, do these men know how good they are one could easily fall in love with them.lovely video thankyou.

I cannot believe I’ve just watched this movie. I dare say Richard Armitage’s Mr. Thornton has replaced Matthew’s Mr. Darcy. My heart is broken for never finding love and now facing old age alone.
Don't we all want to find this kind of love... And Richard Armitage being so handsome, so charismatic doesn't help us to lower our expectations... Sigh...

I'm sure Margaret used to be in EastEnders ... Daniela Denby-Ashe. At Manchester Metropolitan University there is an Elizabeth Gaskell Building on Upper Brook Street / Hathersage Road. Not unknown for people on the phone there to ask reception if they could speak to Elizabeth Gaskell. Only to be told why they are unable to and probably feel like MUPPETS!!! LOL :o)
