- It's no secret that Memphis Shades makes the BEST motorcycle fairings and windshields, so you can only imagine my excitement when I found out that they just released a whole line of products for the Honda Rebel 1100!
I've been dying to find a great-looking, well-performing fairing and/or windscreen for my Rebel 1100, and when I saw their Gauntlet Fairing and El Paso Sportshield I KNEW they were going to be the best options for me. Little did I know, the entire Memphis Shades Rebel 1100 line uses their Trigger-Lock Technology which lets me swap between the fairing and sportshield in SECONDS! Even better!
These things are even nicer than I expected, and I'm so stoked to finally have high quality fairing and windshield options for the Rebel 1100 that don't break the bank!

I have a Memphis Shades Batwing on my Honda Sabre 1100. Many times I get on the freeway and forget that my helmet visor is still up. Its great knowing I can pop it off in a few seconds for a bike wash or just a short backroad jaunt. When the weather gets cold, don't fear the wing! It gives good protection.
I used the Batwing on two bikes; a 2001 Kawasaki VN800 and the bike after that one, a 2004 Kawasaki Meanstreak. It worked extremely well on both bikes, pretty much eliminating all turbulence whatever the speed. In the summer I would switch to just a windscreen that was short enough so that the top of the shoulders and head were in the wind. It used the same fork mounting hardware. One time I was testing the top end of the Meanstreak (Power Commander, Vance & Hines Slash Cuts and Hypercharger intake) and I took it up to 125 at 4,000 rpm. Still had a 1,000 to go! All I heard or felt was air whooshing by and over me. No buffeting at all. There were no wobbles or vibrations. All of their stuff is designed and built well. I also got one of those little Spitfire windscreens from MS and that thing worked much better than I would have guessed. The handlebar mounting puts it much closer to your body, so the wind isn't curving back towards to early. I do like the club style model you first tested for summer use.
Absolute game changer for sure, I'm just happy to see windscreens for the rebel that actually look good!!
Agreed! I’ve been holding off on a fairing/windscreen until something like this finally came out!
I just got my Memphis Gauntlet Fairing today. You helped me make the right decision for freeway driving. Thank you!
How is the wind protection? Also was it an easy install and did they supply you with all the parts you need?
Burch, your content is the best. I don’t own a rebel yet but eventually I believe I will once I free up some cash. I’m looking at the 1100 DCT thanks to you and Quasi.
Keep killing it on here man, I remember when your channel was at 19K subscribers when I started following you. You are doing everything right man! Ride safe!
Thanks so much dude!! I appreciate the longtime support! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 I’m looking forward to the day I see you leave a comment saying you finally got your Rebel! 🙌🏻
Get one, and you will never regret it.
Man I like how low profile and subtle the brackets look when the fairing isn't on there, also how easy it is to switch out is amazing!
I know right?! They blew my expectations out of the water!! 🙌🏻🙏🏻🤘🏻
Also the fairing looks great! I'd definitely take that over the wind screen. I feel like the wind hitting you were it does on the helmet helps for better ventilation for the helmet
I missed this video when it came out and I'm for sure buying the bat wing. I got my dct 1100 last year because of your videos. I love your content and so excited to have a fairing that doesn't look like the stock Honda ones. Thank you so much!
Thank you so much for all your videos. You sir made me want to get my Rebel 1100 DCT 2024 and purchased this windshield immediately. Keep doing what you are doing and forget the haters.
Also about wind screens. I notced they act like sir foils. Pressing the frint wheel down at higher speeds. Giving better traction on front tires.
Awesome to hear Nina! I’m wondering how the Batwing handles. Looking into that for long rides.
I almost got it for the same reason, but I just couldn’t figure out where I’d stash a big ole fairing like that in the meantime 😅
Additional posting on the Batwing fairing to keep potential reply comments separate. This is obviously just my personal subjective CDO opinion (that's OCD with the letters in alphabetical order, the way they should be), but I would use the Batwing (and I definitely would) only if I was setting up my bike bagger style with nice high quality gloss back hard panniers that stayed on the bike permanently along with the Batwing. I would also have two windshields for different rides. The shortest in dark smoke tint for the vast majority of riding, and once again the tallest only to be swapped over (requiring a screwdriver, not as quick as the trigger-lock swap) and used for long distance touring a few times a year. On a side note, I did see another install video somebody did mounting the Batwing on his wife's Rebel 1100, but for some reason he cheaped out and didn't get the headlight extension kit.... which looked like the fairing wasn't even made for the Rebel and also let all the extraneous outer headlight brightness come inside the fairing. It was not a good look, actually ruined the lines of the fairing on the bike IMHO, but of course once again, that's just my perception.
Ok, so the $500 question you seem to have overlooked is: how hard would it be to put these shields on the 300/500 Rebel?
It wouldn't be hard, but Memphis says "nyooo you can't!!!". Probably just slightly different hardware.
I agree with your thoughts on having both the Gauntlet fairing and the El Paso Sportshield, that's exactly what I would do also. Personally, I would keep the Gauntlet on almost 100% of the time, and only swap over to the Sportshield (19" for greatest wind protection) for the wind coverage benefit it offers on long freeway touring rides. I live on the coast, and it would be nice for riding a few thousand miles round-trip to Sturgis or anywhere else far away. Great work on all the videos you do, and while I know they're a PITA to set up for I especially like seeing the installs and in-depth riding impressions comparing before and after. Keep up the great work!
I've had an El Paso Sportshield made for the Rebel 500 on my Rebel 1100 for over a year... it fit fine.
Nice!
Hey boss, would this gauntlet fairing fit the 2018 rebel 500?
Nina you looked really comfortable pulling up on the Navi! Michael this video was a beast to get out but very well explained!
Doesn’t she look like a natural?! 😍
@@LifeOfBurch YES!!
Hurry on 17” & 19” review. I need to buy one.
very cool plug and play windshields, congrats Nina on your progress!
She says thank you!! 😎🤘🏻
This is a great review! Do you know how i would find out if the gaunlet fairing would fit my 2022 honda rebel 500? This fairing is exactly what I'm looking for, thanks for the information
.....? Right?
I was going to ask how does the gauge appear at night, and I was able to see it in your night time footage. Thanks, keep up the good work!
I'm freaking pumped!
Thinking about going for the 17", the 19 would be playing it safe. I'm the same height as you pretty much.
I've been looking at switch between the gauntlet and batwing so this helped me a lot!
Very cool product I wish more aftermarket companies paid attn to fit finish & overall quality they really went the extra step you should start consulting other companies that realize your input is good for both them & the customers it drives me nuts when things don't work or fit as they should
gotta say I really like the Puig New Generation windscreen designed specifically for the Rebel 1100.
I got the Batwing SML Touring for my Rebel 1100 and I absolutely hate it. The wind hits my helmet at a weird spot and it’s so loud. It’s quieter with nothing on it and my head isn’t thrown around.
Is there any fairings like this one that fits the 500? I can only find it for the 1100
Good one Mike. That trigger lock mechanism is just like one on a Harley sissy bar.
Yup, exactly! I wish someone made a quick detach sissy bar for these bikes 🤞🏻
@lifeofburch I’m in the process of installing the gauntlet, thank you for posting this video. I like the style of cruiser bikes without a windshield, but excited to see how this works on the highways. I saw one of your previous videos of how you discovered the phone mount was the reason for the speed wobble at 80+ mph. Does this windshield eliminate the wabble?
Without a doubt, amazing quality and made in the USA. I’m loving my gauntlet fairing!
100%! It’s sooo nice! 😩
Awesome!!!
Ok. Question… could you test it on your 500 (led lamp) and if the mounting hardware works?
Also I understand your point on that Harley clamshell (knockoff) is a pain to put on the 500… yet you can make them work.
I thought about testing it on the 300/500, but it’s in such a perfect spot on my bike that I don’t want to have to undo/redo everything 😅 I’m assuming it would work, but the extension piece would be my only concern. And I wasn’t even saying the clamshell knockoff was a pain to put on, I was saying the one I got was a total POS so I returned it 😂
@@LifeOfBurch fair enough.
The rebel 300-500 has a diameter fork at 41mm while the 1100 uses a 43mm (from what I can see) I cant seem to find the fork angle (degree)… to compare. It may not work…
Thanks for the response. If you ever get bored enough to try… please record it.
Solid video yet again man. Great work.
@@SLIGHT_ All of the Rebels - 300/500 and 1100 have 30 degree fork angles; 28 degrees of frame rake plus 2 degrees in the triple trees.
@@kenbowlus2995 thanks dude
Wow I really like that smaller one
I meant the gauntlet setup
Thanks brother had no idea I could adjust my headlight
Silly question Burch... would these work on a Rebel 500? Since that's the bike my fiancé and I are considering would like to know if they're a viable option.
I have the same question. I have a 500.
@biologist333 so I looked them up... they only do the clear ones for the 300/500 so that cool café racer looking one is not an option for us. Bummer
They are nice, question that I've encountered on bikes with only 1 front disc brake, do you notice the bike highlighted more in pics with the disc side shown in pics then the discless side? I swear I always notice this?
ive used these windscreens quite a bit. i like the all black mounting hardware. the taller screens create vacuum from the tank area. maybe test with your hand while riding to see if you can block the wind to improve the buffeting... 🤷
I really love my Memphis shades road warrior fairing on my sportster. I would love to see them make one for a rebel
Great review! I got the 19" smoke cuz I plan to eventually start touring. I was hoping to find a review in the Batwing cuz I want that one too. They're currently sold out anyway. Thx again! Stay safe.
Oh nice! How’re you liking the 19” so far?
@@LifeOfBurchFor perspective, I'm only 5' and so far today was my first and only ride with it. I came home and adjusted it because even at only 5', I had a lot of buffeting at the top of my helmet rollin around 65 mph, but realized that I had the clamps too low and according to the directions, should bring the bottom in and the top out to deflect the wind higher above my helmet. But since it was blazing hot down here in FL, I didn't take it back out after I adjusted it. I plan to ride tomorrow tho and I'll share an update. Thx again for your vids. U and Komoto stay safe! ✌🏽
@@LifeOfBurch UPDATE: After adjusting the windshield it's MUCH better. Keep in mind that I'm only 5' tall tho. Only thing was it started whistling at about 60 mph. Other than that 👍🏽
@@MightyMouzMoto thanks for the updates! I’m wondering if since I’m taller the buffeting will be worse for me, or better since it won’t hit as high up on my helmet 🤔 I think I’ll have to give it a shot!
Thanks for your honest detailed demonstration.
Love the looks of the fairing. Some sons of anarchy vibes.
The locking mechanism looks very well designed and engineered.
That fairing though 😍 👌. I bet because of the ease of being able to pop it off so quick quite a few will be stolen unfortunately 😕 😔
True, but then they would need the hardware to put in on another bike lolz
@@Sphoxros I am sure you can purchase the hardware separately
Good day, hopefully this week I will get the batwing from the shop. Where can i get the 2.5 mm spacers. cant seem to find them anywhere.
Do they have them for the 500?
Take 3 was good to go man! I bought the Puig New Generation Sport windshield which does have a rebel 1100 mount included, and I do really like it, it has all the benefits you described with the shorter fairing. But damn yours looks so good, and the quick release option is phenomenal.
The quick release is definitely a game changer! I’m so stoked on all of this! 🙌🏻
I see that on the Cycle Gear sight they have the Memphis Shades Memphis Fats line for the Rebel 1100. Do a test on them too.
The gauntlet is intriguing. Very sons of anarchy. The headlight extension looks pretty simple but it kinda turns me off though.
Will they work on the 500
The fairing seems like the windshield I have been waiting for! They even ship to Europe :D Just to make sure: I need the Gauntlet Fairing including the Black mount kit and then also the headlight extension kit right?
Yup, exactly! That’s all ya need 🤘🏻
Dude!
Lovely fairing!
There’s heaps more options coming out for the rebel now that it’s making decisions difficult 🤔
Great review! I've got a 2018 500, any idea if it would fit on mine?
Damn. I hope they will start selling them in europe. I have been thinking about something like this since my tour into Germany earlier this year. The extra wind protection and the look of this would be super cool. And the quickrelease is something I'd really like
Just got my guantlet fairing kit today, apparently my left turn lights wiring is different on the 23 1100, as I have to move the connector box to get the slack needed, is that box just a *pulldown* ? I can't see any bolts holding it in ? Also I am really tired so lol.
Oh wow Trigger lock is awesome! you are really convincing me to get the Rebel even though it was on my list already :D
The trigger lock seriously is a game changer! And I may be biased, but I say definitely go for the Rebel 1100!! 😬🙌🏻
@@LifeOfBurch would be my first motorcycle, but I would start on rain mode I do not want to spend 7k on a 500 and then 12k on a 1100 lol
@@ZinoAmare the rebel 1100 DCT is my first bike and I did the exact thing. I started in rain mode, then gradually set the controls how I wanted them when I felt more comfortable with the power of the bike. It’s a great bike!
Hey Burch, now that you’ve had the fairings for a bit, does the trigger lock seem sturdy enough to hold up for the long run? My only concern would be that lock breaking and the fairing going flying down the highway. Trying to get your opinion before I purchase. Thanks.
Wow, that's nice. I wish that pretty one would be wide like original batwing. But this is really good system.
So you said you didn't care for the El paso shield. I am 5 foot nothing and wondered with me being shorter if that El Paso shield would work for me.
Great info. This really helped me with which wind shield to get. Can you refer me to an exhaust pipe for my 2022 Honda rebel 1100 dct that has a cool sound and is easy to install and doesn't need any other tweaks?
Get the Coffman Thunder. That’s what I have on my 2022. Easy install and it sounds wonderful.
At 5’10” as well I’m curious what the higher ones do for you when you get them.
I have a rebel 500. I have been unable to find many good fairings for the Rebel 500. Is there anything that differs so much on the 500 that would cause this not to work on the 500?
I like being able to see the turn signals.
I love the Q-sign at 9:15. 🙃
Sorry, just after 9:12 😊
Any chance you can check to see if this will fit on your Rebel 500?
Yes!?
HELP!!! Burch I am making my Rebel 1100 DCT like yours! The problem is that the Burly Brand rear break lever won’t turn on my rear lights! My cousin followed your video and for some weird reason no lights come on when I push down on it like you did. I noticed when adding the Gauntlet windshield he did not remove the rubber thing holding the wires together. Could this affect the back lights? I called Burly Brands but they had nosolution. Any suggestions? Am a big fan of yours from El Paso!
Which gives you better wind protection out of those or the OEM on the Rebel 1100T?
Just FYI. Changing the angle can affect the buffeting problem. At least that has been my experience with previous bikes.
Yup, I mentioned that towards the end. Unfortunately changing the angle isn’t what I want to do because it would affect how flush the fairing currently sits with the headlight. So it’s definitely an option, but I’d personally rather play around with height instead of angle.
To clean those screens soak them with a wet synthetic chamois for a few minutes then wipe it clean with a soft cloth. Bugs are water soluble!
Good thinking! That’s pretty much exactly what I do with my helmet visor! Except I cheap out and use paper towels 😂
Try the synthetic chamois. It's less abrasive, less scratches to distort your night vision. I have a 2 year old transition type visor on a bell qualifier helmet that is in great condition because of this. A $180 replacement cost, so I've been very careful. Even cut a piece to fit just the visor and carry it wet in a zip lock bag on the road with a microfiber towel to try it. Perhaps this method would make a good follow up video? Be safe!
on this bike where did you get that backrest. really a nice touch
Thanks for your awesome content! Love it! At 5'10" you found the 15" too short. I like to sit tall and look just over the top of the screen. I'm 6"0", so I'm guessing I'd need to go to the max at 19". Your thoughts?
Yea I’d say the 19” would be your safest bet! You may be looking *through* it a bit more than *over* it, but I think it’s your best bet to ensure no turbulence/buffeting 👌🏻 Thanks for watching my stuff, glad you dig it!! 🙌🏻
Can someone please tell me the name of the song at the end of the video? So dope!
windshield #3, still bada** lookin on that Reb!
You've had our backs! Thanx again! Still, 'need a road test...And ConGrats!!!! 2
🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Thanks!
Thank YOU brotha!! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Add a tooth or 2 to the front sprocket for top speed down 2 teeth for launch and hooligan nooners.
nice demo. have you ever added a driver back rest to your R1100? have a preference?
What about the MadStad sheilds? Do a test on them asap
I wonder how the 13" windshield would act vs the 15" ?
You should mention what they retail for?
It’s funny, their design is a straight up copy of Kawasaki’s Quick Release system.
Great video!
Thanks man! I was going to mention price, but it’s far too confusing for a video because it depends on if you’re get just the fairing, or just the fairing and mounting bracket, or the fairing/mounting bracket/trigger lock combo, or if you’re getting one trigger lock, a fairing with bracket and a windshield with bracket…you get the idea 😂 It’s all so interchangeable that it’s hard to just say “this is what it costs”.
Now does the gauntlet and locking mechanism fit the 300/500?
Hello Burch. Since lowering your turn signals, has there been an issue with bumps and loss of fork travel? You have to had lose 1 inch in travel with the lights new locations.
Why would you lose any fork travel? They’re still on the same parts.
Do you still use the Gauntlet?
Do you know if the gauntlet will fit a 2023 model 1100?
@lifeofburch Do these types of windscreens work if your handlebars are on risers?
Not a fan of the batwing fairings but I think they look good on that bike
Nice, especially the fairing.
@LifeOfBurch I just finally got my Rebel 300 for practicing from a fellow who funny enough struck up conversation about you while we were signing everything over. Super chill guy and we bonded over the bike a bit and I might even reach out to him to go riding (He sold it because he bought a brand new Rebel 1100). I still haven't gotten my permit but I was wondering if you think there's any must haves for the 300 to make it fun/comfortable for the 1000 miles I intend to put on it before going up to the 500 which I plan on sticking with much longer! I've thought about maybe upgrading the seat. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe any mods I make to the 300 can just be carried over to the 500 once I have both, right?
Cool video, hope to see more soon!
Congrats on the 300 dude!! And so cool that you got it from someone who watches the channel too! Yea, mostly everything you’d put on your 300 will transfer straight over to the 500. I’d say a Mustang seat is a must-have mod, especially since you mentioned upgrading the seat. After putting one on the Rebel 500 that I’m rebuilding, it’s clear why so many people get them. It’s like a freakin couch in comparison to the stock seat!
@@LifeOfBurch I'll have to check out a few seats then. Thanks for the quick reply!
Can you install them at the 500?
Sad thing that the Gauntlet fairing isn't available for Rebel 500 !
Will the fairing for the 1100 fit on the 500
Sweet product bro very clean 🤟😎🏍️☝️Honda number ☝️dead spider 🕷️🕸️ lucky dog 🐕

IS THERE A PHONE # FOR MEMPHIS SHADE I ordered a fairing but do not believe I picked height or shade. Need help. THANKS
Hello,could this fit on a rebel 500?
Around the light I think you're thinking bezel
Did I mention I failed high school English twice? 😅😂😂😂
Cool video. I got 10,000 miles on my Rebel 1100cc DCT now and thinking of getting something like this.
R you going to test a 17" one also?
Greetings from Sea Bright on the Jersey shore.
Dang you’re racking the miles up! Awesome! I do plan on testing the 17” and 19” when time and money allow 🤞🏻
@@LifeOfBurch Great.
Why does the rebal 500 look better then the 1100, i like the cover on the headlight and the rubber housing on the folks
Man this thing is sick!
Thanks dude! I’m so stoked on it!! 🙌🏻
What tires do you recommend for these Rebels? I know some of us are wondering once our Stock Dunlop's wear out.
Perfect timing to ask this cause I’m about to buy new tires so I’ve been researching! I wanted to go with Michelin Commander II or III, but can’t find the right sizes in stock anywhere, so I’ll most likely go with Metzeler Cruisetecs!
I have the 19" El Paso and want so bad to get the Gauntlet too but I need a sponsor! 🤣
do they work with the honda rebel 500 2018?
Great video Burch !!! 🤙🏽
Thanks dude!! 🙏🏻🤘🏻
Where can I buy?
Does this work for rebel 500?
Lets go bro !waiting on the rebuild series God bless!!
Hoping to shoot the last episode of the rebuild series soon!! 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
