An Irishman a Corkman and a Jew. Well said and God bless :)
My Mum was a friend of Dorothy Sless. Dorothy's Mum was tragically killed in the Tusker Rock plsne crash. My Gran knew Mrs Sless too. So sad.
Rest In Peace. A good man
Lovely, informative, important. Thank you.
Continued best wishes to Ireland’s proud Jewish community. You are part of Ireland and we want you to stay here
With much of gratitude, thank you for that message
Really lovely, glad I found this video
History is wonderful
Only when people makes it beautiful.
I like Jewish people, they are a friendly culture
Thank you for that respect.
What a lovely man!
Go raibh maith agat, Mr. Rosehill.
I've lived just up the road from Albert Road. I've a fascination with these wonderful people and their culture and how they fostered their community in Cork.
Im sad to see them gone. Funny that they live on in so many place-names. For example, there's a little group of houses called "Rosehill" on the Old Blackrock Road. Theres also the bridge by the school of comm but I cant exactly remember the name
Oh this is so very sad.. I remember as a child my mother would take all the family to a dentist Dr Scher at Sydney place in Cork City for our teeth.. He was such a lovely gentleman.....
Very sad that this community is dead- such a beautiful video
Beautiful and heartwarming. I’m proud of my Irish-Jewish heritage
Rose are there many kosher facilities in Ireland such as restaurants and kosher butchers?
@@jaym-bu3cr No. In Dublin SuperValu has a kosher corner. I think somebody imports kosher meat but it is very expensive.
Do most Jewish people in Ireland keep kosher?
@@jaykaye7025 It's a very small community. As Mary Rose above wrote there's a SuperValue in Dublin with a kosher section but that's about it. No kosher meat in Cork for many years. I'm sure there are those outside of Dublin who do keep kosher. But it would be a difficult logistical challenge on many fronts.
I'm from Cork, i am interested in jewish history, It's amazing that we have a local Jewish Community, i wish they grew bigger. Am Israel Chai, may Irish Judaism always be remembered as an important part of Cork and Ireland
Beautiful man lm glad he is a happy
I'm sure more Jews will move to Ireland it's a nicer country then England x
As Jew planning to move to Cork next year, it really sucks that I won't be able to easily meet another Jew. I'm not like super religious or anything, but it'd be nice to know another Jew once I move there :(
I am from cork and everyone is very friendly and we are all connected. I’m sure you will meet some Jewish people. Best of luck
There are some young Jewish people working at Apple. The Synagogue is now closed.
You should see in the Munster Jewish Community is still an active organization. According to a different video there a pub across or a few blocks away from the Schul that goes Hebrew music on A Thursday night t Think Calum Petit was the fiddle player.
O wow l have just come across your message and for sure l hope you're well and are living in County Cork, and you have met some nice Jewish people, my late grandy was Jewish and she was a child refugee who came to lreland from Berlin in 1939 as a 6-year old girl she was placed with a young Irish newly married young couple who had just inherited a farm they both took my grandy in and both put there loving arms around her and cared for her as if she was there daughter, my Grandad said that when she first came to Ireland she could only speak Yiddish Hebrew and German but she was a fast learner and she learnt how to speak English and Irish as in Gaelic. sadly my grandmother wasn't a very Jewish religious person because where she lived here in Ireland there was no rabbi and no synagogue. so sadly she fell behind with all things to do with the Faith Judaism. but as the years went by she met and married an upstanding Irish gentleman who became the local doctor my Grande had two daughters and three sons my Mummy being one of them. I myself I have been researching the Jewish Faith and I keep shabbat shalom for Friday evening prayers and I will not lift a hand on a Saturday I do this in Honour of my grandy and the grandparents l never had the chance to meet Xx,
so my friend you be taking care of your self
may ha'shem bless you and keep you safe, AMEN
SHALOM
Each of those answers are so charming! I am reading them from Israel February 2023 during the war. So it is very meaningful.
Does anyone know if the Cork Jewish
community had Jews by the name of Tobin
