  • The video is about soundproofing my M1084A1 LMTV/FMTV Cab. I would say we get 65% of it done in this video. Still need to do doors and panels but I have a few more due outs to complete. Hope you all enjoy the video! Don't forget to like and subscribe!

The key areas to soundproof are firewall floor and doors. Roof is guys but those are the areas where the most external noise comes from. Do the roof if your trying to keep sound in not out.

Thanks for the tip! I did the roof first along with some of the walls because they were easiest to get to and I bought a lot of extra sound proofing and insulation. I plan I sound proofing doors in the next video then plan on adding upholstery in the cab to make it look more appealing!

Good job! I took a different approach and applied sound deadening (resonating) first and sound and thermal insulation (absorption) second. It kinda two different things in acoustic control. I took decibel readings between each step. Looks like the product you chose may achieve both. Let us all know if you can have a conversation without yelling and 60mph.

Thats the one thing I wish I would have done is take DB readings. I still haven't completely sound proofed the truck so I may take a few readings before doubling up on the sound proofing and put sound proofing on floors + in doors. Thank you for the comment!

I would be very interested in the end result. A possible test is what kind of conversation can you have on the highway. You might want to check Drive the Globe, he insulated also under the cab in the most recent rig, similar truck

I have watched all of Drive the Globe's videos, I really enjoy that channel! I am releasing a video of the underside of the cab soundproofing soon. Even though I sound proofed the ceiling and most of the walls, and under cab, I still think it can be quieter. I think Ill end up doubling up the sound proofing material and then soundproof the doors. Ill have a video of me driving the truck with the soundproofing coming out in a week. Hopefully you would be able to tell if the sound proofing made an effect. Thanks for the comment!

Cool! Would be interesting to hear from you if it made a difference :D I'll be looking into sound deadening as well pretty soon!

The cab was significantly quieter after the thermal barrier/sound proofing. I still think it could have been better, with that being said I think I am going to add another layer to the sound proofing that I already install plus I still need to soundproof the flooring and doors. Once I do this Ill be satisfied but the end result will be the true test.
