The Lucid 12 Inch Latex Hybrid Mattress is the 2nd most firm of the Lucid Hybrid Series mattress variants. I consider this my new favorite Amazon mid-priced mattress (in the $300-500 range) (EDIT, October 2019 -- woah! Price looks like it's gone up 30% since I bought mine! Must be popular!). This review was the MOST helpful and thorough reviews on a mattress yet! You literally checked every box I needed on my search, so thank you so much. Our Lucid 12" Latex Hybrid comes on Sunday and can't wait. Gone are the days of our $1,800-$2,200 mattresses!!! 😉👍
Glad for you!
Wow! 1,000 views! Thanks everyone!
Now 3,000! Thanks!!!!
no problem, this video really helped with my decision. im 100% getting a lucid hybrid, however the one i get is probably going to be a memory foam hybrid instead of laytex

Thank you for these!!! This helped me tremendously
Thank you so much for this amazing in-depth review, it helped me decide on getting this mattress :)!!!
There weren’t a lot of people talking about Lucid’s latex hybrid, so I appreciated the specific points you made in regards to the firm edge support and stomach sleeper details.
Though i’m a lightweight stomach sleeper, I’ve grown up with spring mattresses all my life so I do prefer Firm beds over ones you sink into (which you mentioned)
Used your link to purchase, can’t wait to try out the bed for myself :)
Great review! I've watched several and yours was far more in depth and detailed than the others. Great job :)
Much appreciated!
I have been trying forever to choose a mattress. You helped me decide on this one. Thank you!
Glad it helped! Thanks for watching and subscribing!
This was really helpful, Doug! Thanks!

Excellent Review!
Thanks for the great review Doug. Wife and I purchased the Lucid split king adjustable bed (arriving next week) and 2 Twin XL mattresses. There aren't many RUclips reviews on this one so yours was appreciated. Based on this review and what I read on Amazon we're going for it despite many people saying it was too firm for them. Hoping all will be alright, I'll follow up with you later. PS: I used your link when I bought them :)
Thanks Sean! Both for watching and using the link!!! Feel free to come back here in about 6 weeks and let us know how it's working for you!
I purchased this mattress online based on your video and received it today. Love it already. Not too firm, not to soft. Just right!
Woah! Quite a compliment!!! Thanks so much! :)
1-10 firmness?
what firmness?

How long does it take to decompress?
Superb review, thank you. After many, many hours of research this one is one of my finalists as I don't want the typical memory foam "sink into the mattress" experience and prefer to sleep on the bed as opposed to in it. Doug, how do you think the longevity of the mattress would be affected if a single sleeper would buy a queen size (I always sleep to one side, never in the middle) and rotate the mattress every month or so, as I believe Lucid and others suggest?
If you are an average man (weight), you would likely get about 3-4 years of use from it. Your ,mileage may vary. Cheers!
Hi! I just found out the Lucid Mattresses and wellsville mattresses are owned by the same company. Is the feel of wellsville’s 14” natural latex hybrid mattress very similar to Lucid’s 12 inch Hybrid mattress? Why is wellsville’s so much more expensive? Will the feel be very different between them? With my lower back problems will wellsville be a better option for me? Thank you vet much for your help.
Hi, I know nothing about the Wellsville mattress, and have not tried it, so I can't answer this, very sorry.
What are your top two favorite mattresses you’ve reviewed? In terms of best nights sleep…most comfortable.
I got that mattress almost a year ago. I like it however I feel its a little on the firm side. My girlfriend loves it.
Woah, I have the EXACT same feeling!!! I just added a lucid topper to it. I'm planning to do a video on how you can soften up this kind of mattress soon. Stay tuned!
Do you think the 12 inch memory foam version would be less firm or less durable? What would make someone choose the latex over the memory foam version
Yes, the memory foam version would be a little less firm. Some people like latex as it's a bit bouncier and firmer, without and "sinking" feeling. On the other hand, some people are allergic to latex. So there are multiple good reasons to choose one over the other.
Do you still like your dream could? How long have you had it? Any sagging or durability issues so far? What firmness level do you have and are you a side sleeper? I have some back pain 5’6” 175 and a side sleeper.
Yes; almost 2.5 years; see comment later; Dreamcloud only has 1 firmness level; I sleep both side & back. As it related to "any sagging or durability issues" -- there is no sagging. As it relates to durability issues -- I have perceptions from time to time that there is a slight difference in the firmness of the two sides. I wonder out loud if that's because my wife weighs a lot less than me so put less pressure on "her side" over the past 2.5 years. More observation would be needed. I probably should have rotated the mattress more often.
I just got it! Thanks for the review. It seems like yours expanded very quickly. Mine hasn’t expanded as much and it has been 2 hours or so. Is that normal?
Give it a full day.
Torn between this and the Allswell luxe! What do you think??
Well, I've never tried the Allswell, so ... I say this one! Of course, do what you think is best!
Hi! I was looking to buy this mattress, I have lower back problems. Do you recommend this for me? Or which brand do you recommend ?
This one is a good choice if you like a moderately firm mattress. If you prefer a softer mattress, I would look at the Nest Bedding Alexander Signature Hybrid. Thanks for watching & subscribing!
I got a nectar and I hate it, I feel stuck when i'm sleeping, its all memory foam, going to return it. You think this would be good to buy?
I'll bet you like it a lot more than Nectar, that's for sure, based on what you just said. I think this is a good buy but remember it probably only has a useful life of 3-4 years (it costs less, tho!)
I found your review when trying to decide on this mattress for my hubby and I. Per Amazon reviews there are a few stating that after a while the mattress started to smell bad, like sewage or dirty socks. Have you found it to develop any smell? It looks like the smell reviews are only from beds purchase in 2020, maybe just a bad year for the lucid.
Maybe, I'm not sure! And sorry, I only owned this bed for about 1 year, I don't have it anymore. It never smelled during my ownership. Nothing was wrong with it, I just sold it so I could review more mattresses! (only so much room in the house!)
I get hot easily when i sleep and sweat. Does this mattress get warm? Or would I be better off with the Lucid LUCID 12 Inch Twin XL Hybrid Mattress - Bamboo Charcoal and Aloe Vera Infused one? Also, I weight about 350LBS, i know these are rated to 450lbs. Thanks.
I want to know that too.
I just received this today! I really don't want to wait 48 hours. I read a few articles where it could be ready in as little as a few hours? 🤔
I've been doing a lot of research on these beds-in-a-box and a lot of people report that their mattresses are fully expanded within 8-10 hours after unsealing. It seems the area of concern is the foam, and some claims that if the foam is not given the full 48 hours but is slept on too early, it never reaches its full expansion. Who would have thought that mattress buying would morph into compression analysis?
I have the same mattress and it hurts my shoulders when I sleep on my side. It's too firm for a side sleeper. Definitely made more for a back and stomach sleeper.
Thanks for the comment, Selcuk! I slept on it for 10+ nights and didn't have any shoulder pain. I do realize, that everyone's body type and reaction is different, though!
I see, Especially if you workout, you have to be careful not to sleep on your shoulders its much tension
I sometimes get that issue
How much you weigh selcuk?

Lucid's Amazon description is confusing when it comes to the firmness of the 10 inch vs 12 inch. They describe the 10 inch as medium to firm and the 12 inch as firm. Meaning...the 12 inch is more firm.
That is bizzare. From my reviews in person, the 10 inch is clearly more firm.
It is possible they've changed it, but I can't say for sure. More likely a description error.
@@dugroz I chose the 12 inch specifically because they listed it as the firm option vs medium to firm for the 10 inch version. The mattress is due to arrive Saturday.
Would the 12 inch be counterproductive in sex? I've heard the full memory foam ones are so idk about the hybrids
epoen2012 did you find out the answer to this
The more inches the better
Wondering what the more comfortable mattress are between $500-1000?
My favorite is Dreamcloud (see my video on that one), Alexander Hybrid firm is pretty good, but more expensive. This one is good too.
i read about an issue with fiber glass fibers coming through?
I've had it for about a year -- not an issue I've observed. Thanks for watching and subscribing!
I think I heard the same thing, but I can't remember if it was this specific mattress or something else - but either way, it was apparently when the person took the cover off, so maybe if you get it, don't take the cover off?
I just noticed you posted this a year ago though, so you probably already got a mattress, if so, disregard this reply lol
You've got that D&D syntax. I have the memory foam version. Latex is for K9s. Good review. You should however invest in a better mic.
Just curious ... what is D&D syntax???
@@dugroz the way guys who are in to Dungeons and Dragon talk.
Is this the same as the 13in? I’m in need of a bed for my girlfriend and I were both on the heavier side
When I click on the link (in description box), I only see 10 and 12 inch versions?
The one I found was Lucid 13" Prime Gel Memory Foam and Latex Hybrid Mattress from Walmart but I ended up buying the 10 inch (I already had a 2 Inch topper)and have had great sleep thank you for the honest review!
Is this the mattress I slept on over thanksgiving?
Nope. This is the one that WAS upstairs but is now downstairs. The one you slept on was the "Dreamcloud." What did you think of it?
12:35 What are the other mattresses that are better for under 1k?
Try Aveno (Avenco?)
Unfortunately I checked your video after my purchase. But, thank you anyway.. good review!

300th like... lol thanks for the reviews going w the 12 inch
Great!
reat review now I know difference of latex & memory foam...
Too bad you weren't able to compare the latex and memory foam variants of the Lucid hybrids.
Maybe someday . . . do you think I should?
@@dugroz Sure, although I'll have most likely picked one or the other by then. 😎 I've been agonizing between the two, while also considering the Linenspa 12" hybrid. There is currently an excellent price available on the 12" Lucid memory foam hybrid, BUT I still have the fiberglass fire sock concerns that at least a few others do, as well. I know it has the 100 day trial, but I'd seriously rather avoid trying to "re-burrito" a foot thick mattress, in order to return it. 😎 The general wisdom seems to be to NEVER remove the zip-off mattress cover, in an effort to fully contain any potential fiberglass particles. If I get one, I'll almost certainly follow that advice, as well as add a mattress protector (just under the fitted sheet) to the mix. Another complaint that comes up from time to time in regard to the Lucid hybrid (and this may be just with the memory foam version), is it developing quite a bad smell...bad enough to have been compared to rotten eggs and or feces. It makes me wonder if, somehow, the whole charcoal/bamboo/aloe formulation combo has ended up actually backfiring on Lucid, in a relatively small percentage of users??
do you like it more than your dreamcloud?
No, I like DreamCloud a little better. But there is a cost tradeoff.
@@dugroz I did find some dreamclouds at the local thrift store, still in the boxes for only 575. Do you have the regular or premier? Also I think dream cloud updated their design last year. These boxes may be 2-3 years old
@@dugroz do you have the regular or premier?

Rotate the mattress 180 degree every 6 months or so and it will last longer maybe up to 10 years
Good tip!
The 12" that I see is $150 more than the 10"
Makes sense. Thicker is usually more expensive.
@@DugrozReports In the video it said it was only $25 more
@@ubacow7109 Ah, I see. Sorry about that. Of course, Amazon can and does change prices often.
Right now, March 21 of 2021 the 10 inch is actually 20 bucks more than the 12 inch
