I am an artist living and working in France. I learned the techniques of the Atelier of the Nineteenth century and now I try to share some of my knowledge with the rest of the world, because I think that beauty still has an important role to play in artistic creation. Since you needed cobalt blue in the first example, but didn't have it, why not go with ultramarine and (if you do have) cerulean blue to get close to a cobalt? Had an instructor suggest this. But as always, love this video, and all the hard work you put into your videos for us.

What is the purpose of using a grey palette when your canvas is more often than not, white? When you mix your colors on a palette that’s different from your canvas, your colors will be ‘off’.
