Nice! I see you enjoyed this video so much that you didn't get to the score in the review portion until the very end. Haha!
I love Thomas' infectious, childlike love for music! He gets so into it when you see him recreating the moments from the song as he is building his lead sheet and also when he is playing. That's an important thing to hold on to as you go on in life, so you don't become jaded and cynical because those can kill your drive to keep practicing your passion. And you can see that in Thomas' playing because he really got down the energy of the track with his drumming. He gave it so much effort that, as you pointed out, he was sweating at the end. Fantastic drummer!
I enjoyed how you related what Thomas was talking about and how he did his lead sheet to your own experiences in the music industry, especially since this is a different kind of video than the one with Larnell Lewis and Todd Sucherman. In those cases, they only listened once and then went ahead to play those tracks. Here, Thomas was going through the process he would do at a studio session, which was to build a lead sheet and then start playing. So it was cool to hear you talk about how important that is and even how that kind of discipline is appreciated in the industry.
I'd love to see you and Thomas get together sometime so that we can hear you converse about music, with him talking his "Hoogabaga" and you talking your "Doogadaga"! Although, we might need a translator! 😄
Also, it's a nice touch that you gave this the same score that you gave the "Lux Æterna" track itself. So two of my requests back-to-back got the "Awesome, Amazing" scores. Pretty cool!
Thanks, David! 🤘
Drumeos videos are great. I hope you do more of these! They recently put out a mastodon track where the drummer couldn't hear the drum part and never heard the song before, so they had to come up with their own take. Great stuff all around 🤘
Love the Drumeo videos of seeing musicians do their thing, it's very special to see how people ply their trade like this.
this is a very eye opening vidoe , not a musician but just very impressed with this 🤩😀😀😀
It amazes me how anyone can sit there, hear a song a few times, and can then play it almost perfectly.
I am very far from the world of music, but looking at such professionals, sometimes you wonder what the hell is not a rock musician who creates wonderful music and strives to constantly improve his skill level.
Yeah Thomas Lang is pretty much the best you can get in terms of drumming
hugadaga dugadaga tch tch tch tch AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH. so fun.
Lang is a beast! I hope they do this with El estepario siberiano.
Impressive
Yup, lead sheets are new to me.
Tuned in thinking it was the crooner Thomas Lang😅 Would have been interesting.
My favorite thing that Thomas did was play the ride in the pre-chorus. Lars is always slamming on the hi hat or the crash, and the lack of variety in his cymbal work sort of creates this tiring droning effect for me. I don’t think Lars even has a ride on his kit anymore.
I don't think Lars has EVER had a ride.
@@BamaMatters11 He did in the early days. It was at the very least used on Kill Em All and Ride the Lightning, then used rarely after that until he completely abandoned it about 20 years ago.
@@flightgravity7483: He has said that the ping of the ride cymbal bothers his ears.
The cawwwww of the China cymbal bothers mine. 😂
JUNNA did this drum cover song....
November
They probably recorded the drum tracks, because Lars isn't that good and probably the most simplistic drummer out there. On the other hand Thomas Lang is the best out there master of multitasking what's 8 petals and different polyrhythms among other ridiculous unhuman drumming techniques. To give Thomas Lang anything Metallica does is like first year music Major in high school
