Which is already what you are doing, in a way. They are purely relying on donations, which would be much less than getting paid professionally and constantly have to deal with people demanding stuff from them. Working on open-source software, this has also affected me, I just don't see how you can call it "disappointing" and "unacceptable", when they are doing all this work and you had to pay either nothing or very little for it. I think we should be thankful that they are doing anything at all. People often underestimate how much time and effort goes into this. A senior software engineer makes about 59 USD/hour on average. Just imagine how much time the core team puts into this. That's a lot of donations if you want to make up for that. They are doing this because they believe in the Free Software philosophy, or because they like it, so don't deserve this condescending attitude at all. If you really find it unacceptable, sponsor them and/or kindly ask them and actually give constructive feedback! Actually explain why you think it could be beneficial to the developers to do this, and then they can decide on their own whether they want to spend their time on it or not.

I stumbled upon this channel when i was looking for tiling extension for gnome and i absolutely love it. You have this strange niche vibe in the linux youtube sphere. I love it. And the new ( not really, i know ) AI voice is amazing.

Why not just add the extensions? It's one click from a GH repo and it adds back all of them. Any similar app that gets slightly popular will be forced to do this, because nobody wants to have legal issues.

it does! with the old renderer gtk4-demo gives about 64 MB, with ngl about 50 MB, and with vulkan about 30 MB

To lower the power and GPU usage. The apps that dont need to render nothing fancy wont drain your battery as fast.
