This show is great. I love it! What I don't love is the new Places sidebar. Downloads is at the top????? For me that's my Junk folder. Documents is at the bottom? For me that's where every project is, in organized folders. Disks in sidebar middle??? I have lots of disks, so now I need to look at them always??? This change is awful. Should have added a preference to hide/show things instead. This is awful.
I don't like the changes to Places in files either. Just seems unncessary. Why should downloads be up there but nothing else? I get not letting people remove those xdg directories from the top area, but if they're going to remove those, might as well give us the option to customize it.

@@HiAdrian Absolutely, it never sounded like an approach but rather a workaround for a future implementation of it. Now the only two other things holding me back from switching entirely are the latest nvidia drivers having issues with wayland on certain distros, and my need of secure boot for the w11 partition and having to sign the kernels manually for Linux which is tricky. But recent changes are closing the gap even further than before, and I'm happy for it.
9:56 the previous dialog windows will only be deprecated, not removed, so they will still exist the runtime, and the Devs can still switch to runtime 47 and 48 later without porting. Just like how previous navigationsplitview and overlaysplit view were introduced, and Adw flap was deprecated, it wasn't removed, it still exists! They will all be only removed in Libadwaita 2, current version is 1.5. depreciations only get removed in next major release
I don't get your problem with deprecating old APIs, and the whole idea of not updating because of it. Deprecation is just a hint that something will be removed in 2.0, so that will probably happen years from now. Unless there is a plan to do 2.0 any time soon that I was not aware of? (In 6 months?)
