Great tour. Fun fact.. Portage Avenue is so wide because it originally it was a trail for ox and carts on a dirt path and to keep the carts from getting stuck in the soft mud ruts they made it really wide. As the settlement developed into a growing city Portage Avenue remained a wide transportation route.

This City is Breathtaking. Its not only just exciting to look at from a video at home, nor even just driving through the city in a sunny afternoon, but just. Living here, and being a resident, you not only just experience change that happens in this city but you, grow with it and learn from it. Like maybe, you hated public transit here 2 years ago, but living with it, and seeing it grow from 80 or so routes which varied in meh. to - pretty useful, to now having this Master plan folding out with Rapid Transit ways and buildings like the Osborne station and or even helping other smaller areas like St. Norbert with a Fully committed and well liked route - the Blue. It. This... This city, I feel just.. Every city has a soul. Every single one, and in it's own way. But Winnipeg... Winnipeg has one you can talk to. And choose how it develops. Most instances and actions in this city, has changed it. There's so much to it that tells you its more than a city and its all for you to discover and maybe you'll still hate the Transit options, maybe you'll never use it. But It will never stop the city from Creating new services that will benefit the community in a positive way, and maybe I wrote way into this, or maybe I just scratched the surface of what this city can do, if you just. Look at it. From a video you found randomly, to a car drive through the city to get to another place, to being born here and raised in a place where, you have your own mindset of it. to going downtown, and sitting down. Looking across Portage with the Busses passing by. And Being able to Think. Just. Think, That this city. Has a life like any other, but it has one that you can really love, if you just look for a little while. Maybe you never will. That's okay. But it will always be here for you. It may change. But you will too. Idk why I wrote this. I don't even know if it makes sense! I guess I just.. Wanted to..? Ha, Idk. Thanks for your video, Its heartwarming too see everyone so positive about this city.

Man, it doesn't even look like a downtown. I lived in the peg for 6 yrs. I now live in Toronto. I like it way better here. Just more people, more to do, interact with. Winnipeg is a unique little city though. But not much has changed in 20 yrs. Its so quiet downtown! Come downtown here in TO its like whole other world!
Really? Where are you from? Winnipeg is a small Major city. This is of course in the summer. Winnipeg had the coldest winters of any major city in the world. We try hard to make the most of it the rest of the year.
@@lvfreeAdventures he's being sarcastic. Sadly like most cities Winnipeg also has a poverty district. It is North of city hall past the train underpass. Haters got to hate, crime in Winnipeg is medium overall compared to other cities, and the assumption that the crime is downtown is either based on false assumption, or old knowledge. Most of Winnipeg's crime is immediately outside of downtown in the poverty areas, Downtown is far safer these days.

doesn't look like its a people friendly city, most of the buildings do not have access to their services from the streets, they are built like they are fortresses meant to keep people out instead of being open and welcoming, you have to walk around till you find access to the building and then walk around till you find the little shop you were looking for, no cafes or services offered to pedestrians out on the sidewalk, reminds me of communist russia. is it meant to keep certain people out? like a segregation practice?
