    You're singing my song, Veronica! You're not alone. I feel that more and more women are starting to speak about this time because we're going through it differently than our mothers and grandmothers (thank you hormones in our food), and also our female ancestors didn't have voices or platforms, nor was this sort of stuff spoken about. And since most doctors were male at the time, allllll of this is coming fast and furious and there are fewer places to go for (real) help than one may imagine. All that said, I went down a thought rabbit hole and just kept obsessing about the weight gain (despite changing my entire lifestyle - minus drinking!), and the other things that happen when we're blessed enough to age. I think for me my mantra will be, "As I age, I don't want it to be about how I look; I want it to be about how I look at things."

    • @essentialveronica
      @essentialveronica  11 месяцев назад

      I love that mantra! 🙏🥰 What a great attitude. And yes, our elders and generations of the past just suffered through it all in silence. Wow. Glad we are able to empower ourselves with info and options today. 💯

    Hey Ms. V - thank you for sharing all of this. Wow personal stuff that takes courage to put out there. I went into early menopause at age 40 - seventeen years ago and have been on HRT pretty much 100% since then. I’ve had to fight for it over the years and you are so right: many physicians don’t fully understand HRT and that ancient incomplete study. Because I went so early, I was at risk for osteoporosis. I’ve had zero regrets and I’ll stay on it as long as I can. Also exercising daily (running, cycling) and lifting heavy weights 3-4 days per week. I’m healthier, happier and stronger than I have ever been. Women’s healthcare and menopause care has been SORELY lacking historically. It’s ridiculous 🤬 So wonderful to hear you are feeling better! Congrats on the new role too; successfully changing roles in your career to one that you love is truly a blessing and a big deal!

    🙋🏻‍♀️ Yes girl! It was me who talked about the sleep disturbances being a perimenopause symptom.. and how they must be called disturbances because it is such a disturbing feeling!! I could leave a full essay length comment about this menopause thing, but I'll try to control my Ramble Tamble self.. 😅 I too have watched many videos on this topic and have learned about the debunked studies 👌🏻 but I haven't yet gone with HRT, although I am working with a naturopath… In fact I went away to the mainland yesterday for an appointment with her (by the way, the Sephora in the city had a tester of TF vanilla sex which was almost empty but had enough in it so I could get a good spray on my skin) 😂 So far the adaptogen herb drops I am taking still seem to be managing my symptoms fairly well.. oops I can feel myself going on a ramble,, I have to stop! 😅 it was interesting to hear you talk about your work, it sounds really fascinating. Good for you for stepping out and pushing away the fear! I am at work right now, of course I work from home but I am doing the payroll and my month-end paperwork, thanks for keeping me company! ❤

That we have options for managing the symptoms. But WAIT, I want to hear about Vanilla Sex... what's the verdict???

    • @tammyroxanne.
      @tammyroxanne. 11 месяцев назад

      @@essentialveronica Yes! That's the main thing, I may look into the HRT if symptoms change at all.. ok Vanilla Sex was not really my style, I found it very very sweet, a very almond extract artificial sweetness with actually quite a nice vanilla base. I mean it wasn't bad, and I could see how people could really love it, especially if that is their style of fragrance, but there was something kind of weird almost like body odour about four or five hours into the dry down! 😬 I do feel like I've smelled this scent profile many times before, but I don't think it's as much of a letdown as people are making it out to be 🤷🏻‍♀️

    All our journeys are different. I did Bio-identicals when my time came 10 years ago. I read a fascinating book by Susan Somers years ago called the "Naked Truth" which was brutally honest about females who can no longer reproduce...she called menopause the death spiral. Eek! But thanks to modern medicine there were options. She opened my eyes to bio-identicals. Luvd the affirmation...who am I to block blessings. I will keep that one in mind. Luv this channel. Comfort is the enemy of PROGRESS. I live by this. I’m in travel leadership and by trade, jumping into a new role, meeting and managing new people, and help them transform into a profitable and compliant organization is what I do. You’ve spoken about imposter syndrome and run into this often as I take on a new venture. In a completely weird and oppositional way of thinking, I remind myself that many have been before me, and more will come after but in my tenure I have something to offer and I am good at what I do. I’m not anymore or less special than anyone else. Great for you!! I had similar menstruation issues. My flow was extremely heavy to the point that I was changing pads hourly if not more. I also had irregular and heavy periods. As I got older, they regulated but remained heavy. I’m talking hemorrhage! A couple of years ago, I noticed some discomfort and turns out I had a fibroid and the bleeding intensified (as if that was even possible!!). I wasn’t in perimenopause unfortunately but I had had it! I decided to have a partial hysterectomy (and a bladder sling since we were already there..HA! ) and it was the best decision for me but I also didn’t have changes in hormonal patterns but was tired of being a slave to periods and a fibroid that exacerbated everything. Not sure if I would have been able to survive additional symptoms! Wish the best and looking forward to the update!

    One of the mistakes that women make (and many doctors) is that they focus only on the visible physical symptoms of menopause like hot flashes. However, over time estrogen deficiency has much more devastating consequences such as osteoporosis, cognitive decline, increased risk of Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, and many more. Even if you stop having hot flashes after some time without going on HRT those other things are still going to be there.

    • @essentialveronica

    What an inspiring and relatable share today, Veronica; thank you! So happy for you that you’re finding what works for you through this new stage of life (hormonally and career wise). I have been curious about HRT - its not something i would need anytime soon, but I have become aware of how life changing menopause can be physically, emotionally etc and how little guidance and knowledge we have about it, so it’s really valuable to hear real life insights from you. And thank you for the reminder to say yes to change and riding the waves. ❤

    I was reluctant to try hrt many years ago when going through menopause, for the reasons you said. However, I was so fuzzy in the brain, etc that I thought if I don’t start taking it, I’m going to drive the car into the back of a bus or worse! Couldn’t think straight. And did anyone else lose a lot of confidence too? I felt totally inadequate most of the time. Glad that’s over now😃🇦🇺

    New subscriber here, I love your sunshine personality, I just feel comfortable here 😊❤️
    I have finally, FINALLY learned something here in your video. I went through cancer at the age of 38, chemo and all that and needless to say, I was menopausal because of chemo. Then I got my period a few times in the last 8 months or so (I believe because I took my health in my own hands, like hardcore and I like to say "the body and nature won over the chemicals"), but sporadically and now I am kind of perimenopausal, judging by all the symptoms I have (hot flashes are not really present anymore, but hormone shifts.. Yep). Through all this time, I've had these, as you say, jerking motions right when I go to sleep. I would jumo up scared. I had no one to ask, for a while I thought I was dreaming, it's not real etc., although I knew I was still pretty awake. For a while I also thought maybe my heart got damaged a little, because of the chemo.. I could cry right now, finally someone talked about it. So it is menopausal symptom.. Thank you, love you already.
