    Awesome tutorial. I always thought making headboards was really hard. But it does not look too complicated. Thanks for sharing.

    I love Bill at the end of the video, let's see more of him. You go guy!! But seriously, I'm a woman, have a few tools but...why couldn't I use cubes made from lleft over packing styrofoam for the spacers between the front and back, sure would be a lot easier than cutting all that wood with my little jig saw. BTW, for the back panel at HD I see they have something different, like luan but a bit sturdier and about $`10 for and 8x10. For my taste I'd like this piece to be less than 20 lbs.

    Hi Tanya, a twin headboard is 40" w and this one we about 39" above the mattress. Hope this helps,

    What a great video!! Thank you Bill for taking the time to make this video and walking us through the steps. When you cut out the backboard with luan, you mention you clamped 2 sheets together to the plyboard template to cut out with jigsaw. However, when you place the back board on with the glue it looked like there was on 1 sheet of luan stapled to the back or were they glued together off video so that it appeared as 1 sheet?

    I use a wood glue from the hardware store. Liquid nails will work but may be more expensive. Thanks for watching. Please subscribe to my channel.

    Do you happen to have and be willing to share a supply list and specific template dimensions for this twin size headboard?

    OK, forget the first of my comments, you covered it in the after thought on your Bloopers. Nice to know I'm not alone at screwing things up! Who knows, Hollywood may want you.

    I have not tried MDF. Isn't MDF heavier? I see no reason why MDF wouldn't work. Please send pictures of your project. Kim

    Thanks for this video. I love watching your videos! Your work is so beautiful. I'm curious about the frames. Are most headboard frames constructed the same way regardless of the shape and thickness?

    • @KimsUpholstery
      @KimsUpholstery  10 лет назад

      Hi +Doreen'schannel Thanks for watching. There are many ways to construct a headboard frame. What you saw was just one of the methods I use. It really depends on the outcome you want. Bill

    Hi Alice, Foam spacers might work just fine. I never would have thought of that. Thanks for your input. Please join us on Kim's Upholstery FaceBook where we can stay in touch.

    Regarding MDF: It's really a lot heavier than wood, good for a painted surface, not so good for a headboard, too heavy.

    You say, "this is a full sized headboard", using a board that is 40 x 40. Using my calculations, that wouldn't be big enough for a full size. So.......I'm guessing that for the sake of time and ease you're demonstrating this is a TWIN. I guess you can chalk this up to my age, that's an old picture of me, I'm at the age where I get confused.

      Alice Crawford Hello Alice, we say full size plan but yes it is a twin.
      Thanks for watching,
