Well this is most likely because Hiyoko was supposed to be one of the survivors, but in the last minute it was decided for her to die thus she has almost no character development, and her death is quite random( they didn't bother to find her murder weapon and most of the illogical parts about this case are around her death). I wished she would have survived until the end but i feel like the biggest reason they killed her was so that they can give Mikan the "final word" in the hatred between her and Hiyoko.

@@julcam04 honestly yeah, 3 of my fav characters died but even tough i knew not all my favorite characters will survive it's still stupid that their case is so bad and it really feels incomplete, unlike Nagito's which is personally one of my favorites given how complex it is. First just like i said Hyoko should have lived and get a character development where she will keep aive Mahiru's will. Second if they killed Hyoko they should have at least kept Mikan alive where she would become a bit more confident in herself as a character development rather than making her one of Junko's "pet". In Ibuki's case tho, despite how much i wished for her to survive, because she is such a great character(out of the 3 i like her the most) they decided to kill her for a bigger impact and make the player(especially if it's someone like me who likes Ibuki) feel let's say some sort of Despair. And well obviously there are a lot of things that were not done properly like, how did Mikan managed to carry ibuki while climbing the ladder especially given how clumsy she is or how did she knew when(or even if) Hajime will look at the recording and then sprint toward Music Venue or what and where is the murder weapon that killed Hiyoko.

I have issues with this case guys. Maybe someone can clear these up, but I cant shake these questions from my head: 1.) Where's the murder weapon that was used to take down Hayako? And how was this done so quickly? Wouldn't there be blood on Mikan? 2.) When Hayako discovered the killer, why was it that there was only blood on the stage? Did Hayako walk all the way onto the stage before she was murdered? 3.) Did they explain why there was blood on the bottom of Ibuki's shoes? 4.) Does Mikan have the power to strangle Ibuki? Wouldn't she have abrasions or marks on her hands from doing so? 5.) Was it sheer luck that Mikan knew the exact moment that Hajime looked away from the monitor before cutting the video feed? How did she cut that feed, if it's a LIVE feed? Did she somehow blow out the candle 🕯 so that it would be too dark to see her run off camera? How was she able to do this while wearing the Usagi bag? Are we to assume she was able to do this, all whilst wearing the Usagi bag? 6.) Does Mikan have the power to effectively hold Hayakos body upright, while taping her to a pillar? Can this be done with minimal blood? 7.) How did Mikan get the rope onto the ceiling in both facilities? It seems super high up... 8.) How did Mikan get Ibuki's body into the noose? A body is super heavy... and it would be difficult to lift while walking up a step ladder? 8.) How did Mikan hang the black curtains? 9.) Does Mikan have the power to break a camera monitor?
1) Could have changed her clothes 2) Mikan could have killed her at the entrance and the drag her onto the stage since she is small and the lions death needs to have a place so they killed her and dragged her. 3) they explained why but in case you don’t know she stepped in the murder scene when hayako was murdered but Mikan couldn’t right away which caused mikan to kill Ibuki 4)In this case Mikan is the only killer but it could have been a thick rope or she knocked out ibuki first before strangling her to make the process easier 5)I honestly don’t know 6)As we know Hayako is pretty small so taping her could have been easy and like in the video when she was getting killed blood fell but quickly after the heart stopped she only had little blood dripping out with her neck and body being taped 7) She could have tossed it or used the two or one step ladder. 8) Which is why she has big strength but the thing is ibuki got killed and then got hanged so the tension in her body released because she got killed 8)The black curtains she hanged them up when she was filming 9) anyone could do that she just simply crushed it on the ground Sorry I’m not sure all of these are really the answer but that’s what I really think to your question
For some reason, the case only choses to address the morning after Mikan commits get crime and completely ignores the set up and doesn’t even before explaining how she killed Hiyoko and Ibuki
it's simple, the writers of danganronpa 2 just wanted you to gather clues to end up twisting everything and make you end up only guessing who is the culprit even if there is no logical way that these "culprits" were actually guilty, and along the way wasting to 2 incredible incredible characters such as peko and mikan just for a meaningless plotwist, Basically is trash.

Not saying Mikan would’ve gotten away with it, just that painting Hajime as the killer would’ve been possible
