- The Semovente 90/53 M41M in War Thunder is an Italian Tank Destroyer from WW2! This weird looking tank has a very large 90mm cannon that has a ridiculous HE filler of 500g of TNT.
The cannon is great, the chassis is not... and this things biggest downfall is the fact it only has 8 shells! :)
So, let's go play War Thunder and see if we can get 8 shots and 8 kills!

Odd there’s like 5 su-25s in game you should take one tank and then all the different su-25s as your lineup for a ground rb match

Italian 90mm gun is so good at this BR, wish more vehicles with this gun can be added to the game.
Do you know many more vehicles with this gun though? As far as I recall only Breda and Lancia guntrucks are left.
Sadly, historically speaking, this and the Breda 501 are the only Italian vehicles that actually used this gun on a vehicle mount, it mostly functioned as a towed anti-aircraft gun. Other trucks did have it mounted to them, but really, the best you could hope for is a different flavor of Breda 501. The only other way you're going to get to use this is if you play Naval.
Good news for the Allies in real life, bad news if you're grinding the Italian tech tree in War Thunder.
I have spaded today, and now the vehicle is good, without the engine upgrade is a pain in the ass cause is slow, but hell yes that cannon at 3.7 is fun.

Fun fact, this thing was supposed to have a dedicated ammo carrier following it around in battle ^^ . "The small ammunition capacity of the vehicle-eight rounds-was also a problem, necessitating the creation of special ammunition carriers out of Fiat L6/40 tanks, one accompanying each Semovente da 90/53 in the field. Honestly one of my favourite vehicles in the Italian tech tree. The limited ammo can be a pain, but the gun is amazing and a lot of people seem to struggle to kill it, due to the angle of the armour and somewhat spaced out crew

ever since I first started playing war thunder around the time Italian ground forces were added, this has been probably my No.1 favorite tank to play. Only 8 rounds but 8 kills is so achievable with this great 90mm
I am terrible at this game, but this tank is by far the one I have the best stats on. I have a kill-to-death ratio of less than one for just about every tank across the four nations I play, but for this one I have a ratio of greater than 2. Lately, I'm getting an average of 3 kills or so. I find this thing to be very survivable as long as I don't get a full uptier and as long as no one gets behind me. The transmission in the front and the extreme slope of the armor usually take a hit no problem and often allow me to get off a lethal counter shot. I also find the long barrel of the gun frequently deflects shots from the front if I angle or wiggle, adding an additional layer of protection for the gunner and loader. Even splash damage from artillery isn't too threatening as long as I put the open back against a wall. I love playing this thing!
I think they should add a "+1". So for this 8+1 shells. 8 in storage & one in the chamber

They should give the Semovente it's little Shell trailer -- a la the fuel trailer on the Crocodile Churchill. Could even make it so it takes longer to reload the primary stage ammo from the trailer.

I know you just played an Italian tank, but I think it would be fun if soon you did the Italian P40 as well. Much like this its something thats often overlooked and underloved, but unlike this the P40 is actually quite good for its BR. Definitely one of my favorite tanks taking the context of a minor nation into consideration
it's upgraded shell got nerfed a few weeks ago. It went from 158 mm to 145 mm of pen which is not much but definitely noticeable when facing tigers.
But now has more filler

@@josuecheberria125 More filler is good indeed, for it's current br, but it has lost a lot of it's viability in uptiers. it was my favourite 5.7 spg.
ye I remember when it used to one shot tigers and t34's through the front no matter what. Its actually depressing that they'd nerf a tank on a tree that already has too many issues as is.
I would love to see a video on the CV90's if you have them. There's three at 10.0 could be a nice little lineup, one spaa variant, one with top down missiles, and a normal one.

It would be awesome if you did a video on the Ratel 20 since it didn’t get put in a higher BR after the latest BR changes and has one of the lowest BR guided atm in the game at 6.7 and I believe you haven’t done a video on it yet

I play this tank when I am extremely upset of my skill issue, I don't know why but I love it, and after losing my first second tanks, I take it out to massacre the enemy. It even is extremely survivable sometimes, and surprisingly people can't always see you, and i can't understand why. It's a really strangely good tank destroyer to me

This tank operated together with a L6/40 portamunizioni tankette which could transport up to 86 shells, unfortunately gaijin didn’t implement this feature into the game, but with the crocodile’s towed flame fuel tank I’m hopeful someday we’ll get so,e thing that can extend this tank’s ammo carriage

I think the historical idea for this thing wasn't as an actual tank destroyer but more akin to the archer in that it was a self propelled gun meant to setup as an AT gun (for infantry) not as an actual mobile tank. The low ammo was because it'd have to be in a defensive position so it'd load from an external ammo supply (loaded from the back hence the open rear). You get the idea it's an AT gun not a tank. It is just moved with an engine and with treads not with feet because it's a heavy gun

Idea: Jpz 4-5. Fast reload and flexible chasse combined with 320 milimeters of pen and extremely good optics. Absolutely demolishes russian and american heavies when played right.

I love this gun on this chassis at this BR. It faces so many things it can rip directly through and one shot like the KV-1B/E
I always played this Br and faced off against this vehicle, I gave it HE shell love taps with my 75mm Sherman. But I never knew it was limited to 8 shells. The more you know.

Back when i was just breaking into 6.0 with italy my roster always had room for this lovely tank and the breda 501 of course(when it still had its side flaps up) even took it out in 9.0 recently. People get so angry when they get their 9.7 SHWACKED by a 3.7
If you want a fun vehicle to play, I'd love to see you do your own video showcasing the Me410/U2 I think it is, the 3.0 one with the 50mm just like the 262. Give it a little love in the hangar though, showing the X-ray armor as its actually well protected on the inside, has a great defensive armament, great cannon and 20mms. Really consider using the default 50mm ammo as well, swapping between the APHE and HE shells. There's so many open tops to overpressure that you'll probably get more kills with HE in the 50mm than APHE. I honestly don't see what draws people to the Duck HS 129, when this thing exists.
I was just playing on 38th Parallel, and a dude playing one of these, and myself in a Super Pershing held down the C side for the entire match. Epic teamwork

This thing is amazing, the jewel of 3.7 Italy. It was overshadowed by the Breda at 4.0, but it's up at 4.7 now.

I like it how the idea for this tank is the top of the tank being at the rear of the tank so the barrel of the tank isnt too forward-heavy then it may already be. Im not suprised anyone can kill 8 tanks with all 8 shells, and i guess you can have an 8+1 if one of them is loaded

Odd, time to try play the M24 again. I forgot how good that gun and round were on it. I have been playing it lately at 5.3 with some other tanks in my lineup. I have been having so much fun with it, side shot about everything it looks at. Killing so many players that I could have gotten several nukes it only. Too bad no nukes at that BR.😅

Irl this thing was mainly used like artylery and had vagon attached to it with 8 more rounds making total of 16 rounds. Would be fun to see it in game.

In that first battle, where had just finished reloading, If you had thrown it into reverse as you were saying or immediately after you said "uh-oh," I think you might've been able to get enough distance to live thanks to you already facing the bomb.
Certainly wounded but I think survivable,...presuming you maxed out the crew Vitality and also are either an Expert or Ace.
It's better to be lucky then skilled, but in your case you got both. Fantastic runs

I've mained Italy for around 600 hours and honestly, I love playing as anything in their line-up, the only unfortunate part is that they feel inconsistent, and I can't quite tell if that is just lack of map knowledge to best use them, or if it is actually an issue with the research tree itself. Either way, I have the most fun when playing Italy even when i'm trying my hardest to research my 9.3s

Those rockets for the IAR-81C seem like they've been super nerfed. I was playing it yesterday and even direct hits didn't kill the target most of the time. Before you could shoot it into the middle of a pack of tanks and the splash damage would kill them all. It wouldn't be that big of an issue but Italy doesn't get very many ground pounder options.
