    *A minor correction: contrary to what is stated on the video, there is a direct high-speed train running between Madrid and Barcelona that takes only 2 hours and 30 minutes, rather than the 3 hours mentioned on the video. That would make the high-speed train the fastest alternative to travel between both cities.

    We took the high speed train from Madrid to Granada (at the time, the last leg was by bus, but I hear it goes through now) in First Class, and we loved it.

      A direct train to Granada has been running for quite some time now. Some improvement over the final leg by bus, although the beautiful landscape made it quite enjoyable.

    Thank you for another wonderful and helpful video. My question is about Euromed We booked a train from BCN to Valencia on this train. Is it similar to Ave or Avlo? Thank you

    • @ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal
      @ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal  9 месяцев назад +1

      Hi. No, Euromed is not a high-speed train. There are no high-speed tracks between Madrid and Barcelona. It is a good train, though.

    Hello Tony, great video as always. We booked an Avlo ticket from Cordoba to Madrid next January. The Trainline booking process did not allow us to select extra luggage. Will this be an issue when we check in.

    • @ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal
      @ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal  9 месяцев назад

      Hi Mike, on the Trainline, after you select your train, there is a screen called Seats and extras with an option to purchase additional luggage. Many people skip that screen, but the option is there and we've used it many times. If you don't carry any large items of luggage, not having paid for luggage won't be an issue. Otherwise, see this video: ruclips.net/user/shortsWk6bhQDA8h0?si=25V-l0Ywa9JJFN4c

      Thanks Tony, when I booked the ticket I just couldnt see that option. However I booked the seats anyway to take advantage of a cheap price. We do have a large suitcase, which the ticket says we can check in for 30 euros at Cordoba station. Will that be an easy thing to do?@@ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal

      @@mikemoodie you will be able to pay for the luggage the moment you go through ticket control before boarding the train. Make sure you arrive with some time at the train station.

    Hola Tony! Using the trainline link from your video #49, I booked 4 seats with AVLO from Barcelona to Madrid. I was assigned carriage 8, seats 8B, 8C, 8D, and 8E. Do you know if there is a seat "8E", or is this a mistake? The seat configurations in your video are 2 x 2 across, and I assumed they would be lettered A, B, C, D. Is there a seat E in each row? Thanks

      Hello Mike, Renfe has just introduced a new model of train for the AVLOs (most still run on the old train featured in the video) that contains rows of 5 seats (2 to one side of the corridor and 3 to the other). We haven't tested it yet but apparently the size of the seats is exactly the same, the change has been made possible by the design of the carriage. That would explain your seat allocation. All the best!

    It seems much more convenient to have your ticket on your smartphone. For tourists do you recommend a particular SIM card for using in Spain for one month. I live in Canada and roaming charges for using my phone in Spain are exorbitant. It would cost me more than the price of the train ticket just to display it on my phone.

    How or where do I pay the "supplement" in order to carry 2 suitcases of some 20 Kg each? I need the 2 suitcases because I am not in Europe for 1 week, but for almost 6 months. I am not a regular tourist. Thanks in advance.

      Julio, on the Trainline (see our video here ruclips.net/video/MYqz41n5Qn4/видео.html ) once you have selected your train, you will see a screen where you will find the option to add one additional item of luggage. With Avlo, you can only carry one large suitcase with you. If you are traveling with 2 suitcases, search for an AVE ticket.
