Best video for this subject. Just did this last week. Found stiffer KYB fronts for a Corolla S on Ebay for $40 ea. Much better ride. Only problem was tightening the nut on top with the nylon top. Had to keep shaft from turning so the flat sides at the top lined up with the hole in the top spring plate. Replaced the bearing plates too while I was in there.

I wouldn't put my fingers around the spring while torquing, especially since he said he was having trouble with the compression clamps...just a safety tip...

Thank you this, Usually when it come to fix that shock absorber-nut under the spring tension, I would already have sweared 10 times. Thanks for your mild nature, I'll try my best to behave similar. Just got the shocks, but now see I have to get the spring pullers also. I suppose it is similar for my 1986 Corolla 1600 GL?

Thanks for the video! I kind of cheated, I got a full assembly rather than pulling off the spring. But thanks to your video, I was able to do this really easily! Oddly, the first one was a pain in the butt... but I got the driver side one off and replaced within 10 minutes. Car feels great! Now, I just need to make a few more adjustments to the car, and it will be like new!

Thank you, very useful. I have changed my first absorbers today. Usually I buy a complete strut at the junkyard, but today was the day. And it was successful, cheers :)

The torque specs are wrong it's:
Strut bolts to knuckle: 203 ft
Strut Mount to body: 29 ft
    Top Strut Bolt: 34 ft
    Brake Line Bolt: 22 ft
I think you got the measurements mixed up

When using Monroe Quick Struts on a 1995 Geo Prizm, the the holes in the car body for the three studs at the top of the strut, must be drilled out. The Monroe studs are larger than the OEM studs and will not fit without drilling the holes larger.

+Steven McNay nice, that'll be easy as removing the old strut assembly and reinstalling a new one in. Make sure to get an alignment when you're finished :)

      @@robd5326 I know it's been 3 years. But they're going for around $200 to $300 for a set of 4.
