- This lesson provides an introduction to lipreading vowels. Vowels are useful to learn, because there's one in every word; they are also major players in accents. Vowels can be categorized as short, long, or diphthongs.
It's important to be aware of how a short or long vowel can influence how easy (or not) it is to speechread.
