Absolutely phenomenal mate, first road marathon you’ve properly trained for and you went sub 3 😱 insane, my first one was much slower! Loads of positives to take away from the experience and the best thing is you’re hungry for more 👊
Congratulations Marc, on a fantastic race and sub 3hr result considering the obstacles you faced and overcame. That guy!! I hope he watches your vids and gets to see his reaction! It was epic!
He watched it and loved it, he commented on my strava :D Thanks as always for the support Jen, you're doing some great running also recently, keep it up.
Sorry to see that it didn't go as planned. You will get there at some point mate. You did an amazing race and as your first it's a massive accomplishment. Well done to you!
You may not have reached your A goal, but your race captured the essence of the marathon, and you ran it phenomenally. I suspect you’ll be more proud of this effort than when you do break 2:45. I’m even more impressed with you than I was before! Keep on inspiring, Marc!
Congratulations on your sub 3:00 marathon! That’s amazing! And if your day had gone better there is no doubt you would have hit 2:45. I’ve really enjoyed the 2:45 series and look forward to more of your videos.
Sub 3 is amazing for a first real shot - well done! Hope you're not feeling too disheartened - wear that medal with pride!! Looking forward to your next challenge!
Thanks Sophie, Of course a tiny bit, but overall it's been a highly valuable training block and race, I am pleased with the outcome considering the circumstances, and hungry for more :) thats a win for me
Hell of an effort Marc. Not the result you wanted but your attitude and mindset when you wanted to throw in the towel really shone through and got to a phenomenal time. No doubts you've got a 2:45, or even quicker in you. Looking to see the next steps on your journey
Thanks Ashley, I am also looking forward to them next steps, I think thats a good sign post race, when you are hungry for more. But now to let the body have some rest.
Sounds like it was really tough Marc. I’m sorry that you didn’t make your target, but you didn’t give up... I’m sure you’ll crack 2.45 in your next one. Thank you for your videos. I really enjoy them!
Great effort! Marathons are a tricky business...glad you kept on grinding! You have inspired me to push hard for my 5k time trial this coming Saturday. After so many weeks of documenting my training on my channel, I'm getting nervous! Thank you for this series!
Still an incredible, incredible acheivement Marc, so congratulations on an amazing finishing time. I absolutely beleive 2.45 is in you and will happen. Great video!
Congrats again, and amazing finish despite the challenges. I love your mindset and determination, that you’re taking away the positives and looking forward to the next.
Thanks Jon, when you control your mind you realise you have total control :D the future looks bright, and I'm excited to follow your HM training through now :))))
Well done my friend, the journey is more important, you did a great training, and actually is a great result for a first marathon. I saw you in the Finnish line you look to have still a big room for improvement! So, one step for the 2:45 marathon is done, let’s continue now and you will see the results, I’m sure of it!
Awesome performance Marc! Congratulations. To keep going and still managing to stay under 3 hours is very very hard. You'll only grow from adversities. Also, having to do loops, when you're ready to drop out, wow! Massive kudo's.
That guy was super excited to finish!😁 This was a super good effort Marc!! Even with the difficulty at 22. Really sorry about that... many people would have thrown in the towel. Stand proud! We loved this journey, thanks for bringing us along with you
Thanks Suzie, that guy was amazing, really captured the spirit and essence of the joy and thrill of running. He actually commented on my strava and saw the video :D. I am proud but even more hungry to achieve what I know I can do :)
@@runningwithmarc i know you can achieve more! I was rooting for you all the way and will continue rooting for you. You are a Rockstar and this was no small feat.
Making the journey so rewarding is always key. When you hit your goal of 2:45 it will mean even more as you persevered through the last half of this one.
Its a win for you Marc, the whole experience, learning from it and finishing it in spite of challenges... this is why we run and look forward to running. Congratulations!!! by the way sub 3 hr marathon is no joke .. only the best of the best do it.
Well done Marc on getting it done. It’s takes a lot of mental toughness to be able to push through when things don’t go to plan. I love your positivity and really look forward to whatever is next in store. Love the way you captured the whole experience.
Thanks so much mate, really nice to hear that. I'm sure this will help me in the future events/challenges, and I have to be pleased all things considered.
I was watching the live results and noticed you're in trouble. Such a shame, but nice to see that you're staying positive about it! You'll get it next year!
Cheers Susan, I'm happy with the outcome all things considered, but hungry to achieve what I know is within me. Great lessons I learnt through this journey.
Cheers Susan, I'm happy with the outcome all things considered, but hungry to achieve what I know is within me. Great lessons I learnt through this journey.
Crashing to a sub3 marathin is not too shabby of a marathon debut! And it's interesting the mental aspect of marathon running. It was interesting you verbalizing that mental aspect of marathoning, what most runners must feel mid race when things don't go quite as planned - and developing that new goal to finish the race feeling satisfied.
Was great to follow this journey to your marathon goal but the marathon is a race what you have to experience in lots of efforts....it's a damn tough distance and hope to speak /run one time soon to talk what i think you have to train more and than i think 2:40/2:45 is for sure what you can reach.. Recover well and get strong again 👍👍👍
Now I don't have any more specific training and lots of easy weeks/months coming, we should for sure run together. Thanks for being so supportive throughout the series Remco.
Nice job! This reminds me of Alex Vero (Running to the Limits documentary) where his goal was to to break 2.45, but he suffered in the last 3kms and ended up running a 2.58 instead lol. Respect for the sub 3 hours and for running the Marathon in those Adizero Pro shoes. I have a pair of them as well but would not run further than a half marathon to be honest. I feel that I need more cushioning so the Nike Vaporfly/Alphafly Next % shoes would be my choice personally. :)
Thanks mate, it was a good day out, lots to learn from. The shoes were good for me, I think I'll get the vaporfly's or something like that, always interesting to test.
Great race day recap! I guess chasing 2:45 will continue 👍 and great to see race actually happened in full form ☺️ I can't know about my 3.59:59 attempt as they're recommending residents to not travel outside of Vaasa, thought I'm only working there and driving back to countryside 5days a week.
Well done and great coverage mate, looking forward to when you have everything dialed in, you'll be flying. 👍😊Tough day out but kudos for pushing through the uncomfortable parts.
On Marc - sorry you didn't achieve the 2.45. Sub 3 is still pretty fantastic though 😃 . ✔ and move on to the next goal . Well done on a brilliant series.
You vomited AND did a sub 3 marathon! That’s impressive and commendable! I think fueling is tricky and something I’m still figuring out - unlike most other strategies it is quite unique to the individual, temperature and effort
Yes you are right Aaron, there are so many variabilities. I guess that is the whole fun of things, trying and learning more, trying to fiigure the puzzle out, and one day it will slide into place :)
Being sick and still sub 3! A phenomenal time on your first go. I’m of the same thinking that if you didn’t get what you want you go out and try again.
Hey, yes I was using a Stryd pod, CP is as calculated 307w... however with race predictor it was not a good calculation, as a friend also has 2 and they reported various values.
@@runningwithmarc Yeah the race predictor I don't know. But I learned the hard way to not try to run over 91% for the marathon :) I went ka-boom after 8km ;) What wattage was the pace you were running the first 10k?
@@bikeinmotion It was funny because the race predictor actually had it correct that I should do 277w :D although it didn't account for them other challenges I had. It was around 290w for the first lap.
@@runningwithmarc Yeah 90% of CP seems to be a safe number ;) I was shooting for 93 too and then with wind gusts it went up to 95% peaks and hit the wall pretty hard :)
