First time doing a livestream, and many lessons learned! 1. Make sure you're actually live, 2. Mute audio so mouse clicks not audible (realised eventually), and 3. Hide mouse! Thanks to all who joined and persevered through the amateurish live debut of 10 Percent True. And thanks to Gabby and Z Man who, most likely, would be giving me a Q3 for this broadcast!
I bought two copies of Red Eagles back in the day. Wonderful book. Was amazed when I finally made the connection between this channel and the book-great interviews with world-class warriors, great footage of the MiGs from a time when just mentioning the program would land you in prison. Sounds like the Soviets really hit a home run with the MiG-21. Although I’ve heard it expressed that when you lined up for takeoff, you were already in a “fuel emergency.” Have always loved the lines of the MiG-23. Interesting that it’s considered inferior in so many ways, despite its acceleration and speed. Seems like it’s one of those Soviet “me too” projects like the Tu-144 or Buran spacecraft-You make swing-wing fighter? Soviet Union make swing-wing fighter too! My favorite Soviet fighter, despite its infamous “combat” record, is the Su-15. Just because it looks so cool. (Eye of the beholder…) Looking forward to working my way through all your videos.
Gold! Pure gold! These two guys look all avuncular and scholastic, okay, sure...but no, these are the real heavy action DUDES! The certifiable mach-(o) men flying foreign aircraft with barely a howdy-do introduction and them wham! off you go...talk about having the 'right stuff' and the right pedigree to do these missions...well, American fighter pilots are the best in the world and these two warriors are a testament to that...Wow!
This is such a great series, I’ve been enjoying the content for quite a while. I live in Shalimar, Florida in the shadow of Eglin AFB so I see the Mig-21 every day when I’m going to work. Hit me up, if you want me to email you pictures in her current condition.
Well done, gentlemen! Excellent job, Steve. Too bad I couldn't attend the live session, I would have had a few more q's for Ted and Rob. Anyway, marvelous idea and thanks for taking your time to share these interesting insights and explanations.
