I really loved this movie. I think things were communicated in a very non-verbal manner in the movie, which made the messages be heard in a more poignant way. I feel Mary was very scared of interacting with people and giving as well as receiving love. Although she was self sufficient in relation to her financial needs, she was starved in receiving and giving affection. Charlotte was her soft spot to be able to give care again and that made her unstuck and made her life a lot better. Seeing how Mary was starved emotionally, Charlotte could understand and nurture her emotions in a very compassionate way. Charlotte made Mary more emotionally open, and Mary made Charlotte more self reliant in terms of believing in herself, and her value, through how well she could take care of Mary, this helped her build her confidence and they both balanced each other really well. It was a very special connecton.

I think they’ll find a compromise of sort, at least that’s what is implies. Mary love her work and her routine. She wouldn’t fit in London. By showing up at the Museum Charlotte seems to signify she’s understand it and is willing to meet her at least halfway.
@@TititoDeBologay @Louverture desprit Nest Pas Une Fracture du Crane that is one optimistic interpretation, however the movie ended in a museum, which is synonymous with the past implying that they're relationship is past it's due date. Further exacerbated by the display case between them, rewatch the scene, they are so far apart. Split, by quite literally Mary's work. They're from different worlds as well, there is no half way point between living in fucking Dorset 😂 and London. For me their relationship is like the emotions Mary felt discovering a fossil at 11 years old. Something that she couldn't keep. Hence the name of the movie, and why it ends with a glass case between them. Think of it as that's where their memories of their relationship is, something beautiful and accessible to look back on through their mind's eye but always out of touch. That and the fact their clothes are the same as at the beginning, slightly differ in colour to reflect the impact they've had on eachother (moreso Charlotte) but they are still kinda wearing their OG colours at the start of the movie. Black (with some white now) for Charlotte and brown for Mary. Implies Mary won't really step outside of her comfort zone.
Enjoyed your recap 😁 when I watched Ammonite I realised I wasn't being entertained rather comforted. Same sex women's sexual needs qualify representation. It is so important to portray desire without being vague about it. They are saying it's Kate Winslet's career best and I totally agree!
This was extremely funny! My mom and I watched it together and both laughed and laughed! (She hadn’t seen your videos before and didn’t know to expect humor!) You make me want to see the movie now!
@@EvelynDar I’d been thinking I wasn’t interested in watching Ammonite because I knew it had a sad ending, but watching your review summary of the movie really changed my mind! You do great work!
Recap? pretty much the full movie in 10 mins. haha this movie had almost no dialogue, I'm like how are ya'll so in love you've never had a full conversation.
I love your synopsis of this movie😂😂😂😂. It is so real. I love the way you described the moments nobody really understood. Their love scene was totally off the hook🔥.
Well, Evelyn, I just discovered your channel with the Gentleman Jack recap & immediately subscribed. This is my 2nd recap & I’m dying! Looks like I’ll be up all night watching your recaps. You know, I loved “Ammonite” so much, I bought it on Apple TV. I do still love it, but will likely see it with different eyes now! And this is how karma works, because I did the same thing to my Mom years ago, writing a funny review of her favorite movie, “Gone With the Wind,” which she claimed “tarnished it” for her. Thanks for some much-needed laughs! 💜
You did a great job with this one. I chuckled and was intrigued of the movie. I like the little pop ups they were funny it was a great portrayal for the movie
Ha! "Hot pocket" got me 😂👌 its a "Cornish Pasty" a pretty big cultural/historical food staple from Cornwall, England. The crust was so coal miners could eat it, then throw away the crust, without being poisoned by tin or copper from their fingers. The maker/ their wives initials were put on the end too.
Also that's not her arch nemesis. That's so obviously her ex gf from the minute I saw them speak. When she asked her in it sounded like she was inviting her in for sex. Girl get your radar on right! This is the important stuff!
fuck i loved this movie. sure, there are a few things missing script-wise, but i really really really enjoyed it. kate's performance absolutely blew me away. we should be able to enjoy things even if we don't necessarily consider them to be 'perfect'.
"The pencil ASMR was so loud..."
I choked on my tea 😂😂😂
I was tho 😂
Yo that guy literally bought his wife a new gf and we love to see it
lol
Girl yesss!
Hell yeah
"...bitch you was my ride!" I almost passed out laughing.
💀
this movie had barely dialogue but the emotions, acting and chemistry carries the whole movie. its sooo good. i honestly love this movie!
"She sells sea shells by the sea side, to make a living." This breakdown is better than the movie itself.

This was no regular recap - it was pure gold!! Hilarious and accurate 😂
saoirse is such a great actress. really made this movie watchable.
the lady gaga clip was my exact reaction. I was, and am still, fucking shook. 10/10.
Right?!?
I think its one of the best sex scene ever filmed.
oohh i freaking love that love scene. it feels natural and pure.
Why was this so funny for a sad move???😂😂😂
I'm still laughing at the whole narrative!!.
You darlin are funny!
Thank you.
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it
If that ending isn't Carol in a nutshell I don't know what is
I'm dead! Your recap was outstanding. 😆 "you was my ride" - classic
“They stare intensely at each other through the glass display case. And that...is the end of the movie ... “
I’m so glad I didn’t rent this movie 🙃
It definitely caught me off guard 😂
You missing something good

Literally the same ending as Carol.
Omg who else is sad mary didnt actually move in with her 😭😭😭😭

The "man count" in "Ammonite" is much higher than in "Portrait" which makes it more of a lesbian period horror film relative to "Portrait".
