- Hi everybody~ this is the episode where I scream DAMN YOU COFFEE JELLY because two simple recipes using AGAR AGAR and GELATIN somehow turned disastrous...I BLAME SAIKI. K FOR IT! No matter what happens, however, I get there in the end.

Pro Tip for whipped cream:
if you don't have a mixer and are also lazy to do it by hand (which is pretty much always the case), just use a clean (maybe plastic) bottle that you don't need anymore and shake it~ ovo

wahana3115803 yeah haha. Where I live in germany they even sell sometimes cream in plastic bottles so you can whip them inside of them haha.
We do it all the time in America, they usually say a chilled mason jar because the glass / metal lid combo makes the whipped cream super fast :) just don't shake it to much, otherwise you'll end up with butter lol

How to Make Coffee Jelly with AGAR AGAR or gelatine. This recipe is super easy and I did not mess it up a lot. Okay. So I did.

Simon and Martina idea- WHAT IF one of these days you make some sauerkraut pierogis? SIMON. PLEASE. I love them. People need to KNOW. I’m of mainly Italian-Polish descent so especially around Christmas we make homemade pasta and meatballs and SOMETIMES we make pierogis from scratch too!
If you use a mason jar (or any sealed container thats atleast 2x volume of your cream) you can make whipped cream just shaking it. It's actually faster in my experience for when you're making a small amount of whipped cream. I also made butter this way once when i needed more butter on the fly. They also make little metal ball whisks for this that help, but i haven't needed to try them.
If you wanted to make the agar coffee jelly a little more delicate you could just reduce the amount of agar. I work in a research lab and agar is actually what you use to make petri dishes. We use 1g agar per 100mL of liquid and the petri dishes are more solid than a texture you'd want to consume. I'd just experiment with different concentrations of agar to find what you like the best. Also, as I don't like coffee, I would try hot chocolate :)
Hey there! Ihaven't tried this recipe, but I was thinking and I guess that the reason that you liked the agar agar version better (because it has more of a coffee flavour) it's because you had to actually boil the coffe for the agar agar, thus, concentrating the flavor more than the gelatin one. I know no one cares, I just had to get it out of my system 😂 with love from a future engineer that studies way to much thermodynamics and mass transfer ❤

@simonandmartina also I wanted to add, if you are gonna use instant coffee, you need to make it with milk like a sweetened latte. Making drip coffee or an americano w/ it always tastes gross. Also you should try cold brew and agar agar for coffee jellies next! I feel like that would be a match made in heaven 👌

I became obsessed with the show The Disastrous Life of Saiki K....its soo good xD Thats how i discovered coffee jelly also and started making my own version of coffee jelly and it turned out pretty great, like first try was a failure cuz jelly was too soft and it was too sweet cuz i measured the recipe wrong xD But it didn't taste that bad....2nd try was amazing it was the texture i wanted to be and it had the right amount of sweetness/bitterness of the coffee topped with homemade whipped cream....it was delicious :D

The key with instant coffee is adding a little cold water to the instant coffee. I used to be a coffee snob and now that I know how to actually make instant coffee (and NOT the way they say on the packaging) I honestly can't tell the difference.
