This is so sad to see. Knowing that these subway cars had a life, running on the tracks of the New York City Subway to now being turned into nothing like if they never even existed.
As a subway buff, this almost made me cry!! Picturing what these all looked like when delivered to the City, ready to go into crucibles of revenue service!!
This makes me really sick. I rode all those IND R 1 to R 9 cars. None of the AB Standards they were all gone & I didn't know of their existence until 1979 at THE NEW YORK TRANSIT EXHIBIT in Brooklyn, NEW YORK. The Low V's I never rode them... Until fan trips in later years.
why we're most of the graffiti cars scrapped they looked like trains that we're for their time, and useable *most of the pictures we're probably taken in the 70's-80's*
It really makes you think "Did they even care?" "Tossed to the side left to rot" "Like a child getting a new toy, something is gonna get left behind and forgotten"
Now I feel bad for those trains preserved They lost most/all of their brothers/sisters/cousins 😢 Probably these preserved trains have depression and talks to a train therapist on some occasions
I rode these all in service; the LoV's all over the IRT, the Arnines on the IND, the AB Standards on the BMT, then R-16/17's, R27's and 32's, all memories now. For those of us who rode these cars as kids, this is a grim _memento mori_ . (The graffiti era was exceptionally painful.)
This is so hard to. watch this! 😭 The graffiti doesn't help. There was a close up taken in 1983 with cars tipped over in Coney Island! It was featured in The NEW YORK DAILY NEWS. The AB STANDARDS & IRT LOW V cars was taken in 1962, the R 1 to R 9 I remember them being scrapped in Bedford Park Blvd. Concourse Yard in the Bronx not pictured in this piece. As another comment stated: These cars were once new at one time. Incredible destructive history. But it was accurate good video.
I hate to see these old subway cars being scrapped. Thank goodness, every year at Brighton Beach, they run the old Museum trains and around the Holiday season, they run the R1 to 9s, out of 2nd Avenue.
799 subs!! Can we hit 800 before 2021?
Yay
and that is a yes

Just like human's life.
and they were all new at one point
That's the exact thing about it!
Except for the I.R.T. subway trains, I rode on all the other models from the BMT and IND divisions.
Yeah but in the 70s and 80s the transit authority was in crisis and virtually every car was covered in graffiti
@@broyofroyo1207 Great times pure street art!
You know how WE see the R211 as “the car of the future”? Well, the same was thought for the rest of these trains. It was all the same at one point.
As a subway buff, this almost made me cry!! Picturing what these all looked like when delivered to the City, ready to go into crucibles of revenue service!!
Omg I felt the same way

Yep, me too, and to think I rode in some of them
True! This is so sad
Its just a burning memory
this is so sad. this gives me old memories of r40m
Brings me back to when I rode R9s, Standards, R10s, R16s..!
I wish that TrainRider Railfan would have more pictures of other dead subway cars. That would make the show very interesting.
These were all the pictures of cars in scrap piles I could find. Feel free to send me more if you find any.
The photo that hit me hardest where thr BMT standard and M9 in row and the R30 with so much Gatti on it you can't even tell
**Graffiti*
Me at 0:37
The BMT Standards were the longest subway cars of NYC, except if I am not mistaken for the R44, R46,R 68, R 68 dash 1, and the R68A.
R9
With in the procedure of the car’s been scrapped they must make new trains out of old trains!

Very sad to watch. But several of these Subway car classes were saved for museums.
Tiny house ppl: *HEAVY BREATHING*
Super strange + Surreal.
Pretty crazy huh? I found them online and felt that a video like this would be perfect. Post-apocalyptic vibes.
All the history, all the achievements, all the crews and passengers who took those trains, taken away by the cutter’s torch.
_Rusting away like old memories that will soon be forgotten for the very last time..._

The graffiti that says Sand is very random (at 0:24)
the music is more sadder than pretty blood red snow ending
the arines is my favorite subway car, and seing it straight up downed is heartbreaking.
Just remember, one day the R160's would also be like this
It’s eerie in my opinion
Happy New Years
The Minecraft disc music 🤣
And to think, I probably rode on some of those when I was young
It will be a sad & happy day seeing the R62A & R62 get scrapped
The saddest memories of MTA R32
This video remains me of how sad this was with like, the graffiti trains makes me sad
Oh, the humanity!
So sad look at all this history
Many cars of these types were preserved by the Transit Museum. Still pretty sad.
@@TRRailfan what they were
0:24 the graffiti says Sand
Why were some of these cut in half? Literally.
They still continue on the Transit museum

...everyone leave the train for the last time...
0:20 these trains are just sleeping
So these scrapped cars are Lo-vs R1 R2 R3 R4 R5 R6 R7 R8 R9 and R10 and also hi-vs
The R2, R3, R5, and R8 were not revenue car contracts, only the R1, R4, R6, R7, and R9 were. Also there are a lot more types in here than just those.
@@TRRailfan ..Yes. R10s, R15s, etc..
Imagine this will be the r211 in 100 years
