the studio version of the song does have another verse! BTS' "Comeback Trailers" are usually a music video for a solo song on the album that comes out before an album drops. It usually is representative of the subject matter and vibe of the whole album. It's also ususally the intro song on the album, just this particular album "Map of the Soul:7" Suga did the Interlude
The actual song has another verse, here are the lyrics Try smiling, what are you hesitating for? Wasn't this the kind of thing you were hoping for? Or cry instead, what are you scared of? Wasn't this the kind of thing you'd been wanting? The life you hoped for, the life you wanted The life you chose, you achieved everything without regrets And on top of that, you have a big house, big cars, big rings All the things you wanted, you've got it all So what's the problem? Just enjoy it Or just let it go, no? Then run, or stop Don't whine, just choose one or the other You're saying I never told you that? (Yeah, yeah) You're asking me if I really didn't know? (Oh no) I'll simply take just as much as you own, whatever it is That at times, your rest becomes your fall Do you finally get it? That giving it your best effort every time is what it means to do your best
"Map of the soul" refers to Jung's map. He said that the three most important aspects of our are: Persona (the image we present to others), Shadow (our inner darkness), and Ego (who we really are). The shadow can lead us to success or failure. It's what moves us, but it's dangerous when uncontrolled. RM sings Persona, and J-Hope, Ego.
That's almost right. In Jung's theory, the Self is who we really are, not the ego like in Freud's theory. There are three aspects to the self: The Persona is what we show others. We all have many personas - the one we show at work, the one for parents, the one for dating, etc. We should always know that they are not really us, but sometimes we forget if we stay inside one persona for too long. Letting a false version of ourselves take over can lead to a lot of problems. The Shadow is what we hide from others. It is not necessarily "dark" or bad sides of ourselves. It's just things we think need to be hidden. A person can hide their sexuality out of fear. Their sexuality is not bad. They only THINK they need to hide it. Hiding things that don't need to be in the shadows can lead to shame, self-harm, etc. Again there are problems when the shadow is in charge of too much. The Ego is what we see in the mirror. This too can often be an extremely distorted idea and not at all what we really are. Believing that we know ourselves best (having a big ego) can be just as destructive as an over-powering persona or shadow. It stops us from correcting flaws, or it causes us to forever try to fix flaws that don't even exist anywhere but in our own mirror. All three aspects must be in balance to reach what Jung calls self-actualization. By embracing all sides, we develop a healthy sense of Self.
You mentioned how Suga uses the full range of his voice including squeaks and vocal fry. That is what made me appreciate him even more. He is so good at giving emotion in all of his work. He is a writer, composer and producer, and it shows in how he interprets his messages. Glad you like it. Someday, on your own or on a video, you should check out an into video by Taylor Mori or Xcelest. There is another by Rice Sqad this is quite good too.. These guys do concept albums and often connect the over multiple albums.. They also have a full story line that runs through many of their songs, it is called the Bangtan Universe. This song is from the Map of the Soul series, albums based on the theory by Swiss psychologist Carl Jung (pronounced like young) on how ones personality develops. I know, nerdy, but I love it. The care and planning that goes into their work is amazing. You may like another rap line song called Outro: Tear. There is a live in Wembly that literally brought me to tears the first time I heard ut. Suga wrote it as they were struggling to continue knowing they were blowing up internationally but we're physically and emotionally exhausted and, frankly, afraid of what may come next and how to handle it. Taylor Mari's Guide to the Bangtan 7: Great info about the group, its members, and its fandom. A really great introductory video. XCeleste's Hardships video: Good to help you understand the history of BTS, what difficulties they have faced (there are a lot, and they vary in type). Rice Squad "The Most Beautiful Moment in Life Goes On": Great video for seeing their rise to success - their accolades, accomplishments, etc. These three videos together are, in my opinion, the best introductory videos to watch, and they work well together to tell a cohesive whole. There is another video out there that is super long that a lot of people have been recommending recently becaues it includes some of the more recent solo projects of the members (but is already outdated because it's missing some things that have happened/come out since it was created). I feel like that longer video tries to do too much for the person who's just trying to get to the know the group and its history. The most important thing is to get to know the group. Once you do that, you can move on to solo projects. Taylor Mari plans a follow-up video that will cover what we can "Chapter 2" (which is the solo project/military service era we are in now).
Yoongi is known to have that squeak/quick tone inflexion. He uses it in a lot of songs. The second half of the song is Yoongi's dark side/shadow singing back to him... you know I'm a part of you and you can't get rid of me... you're not whole without both the light and the dark.
Sometimes when they have a comeback trailer, the song is shorter than the full length which usually is later released with the album. It’s always a surprise when they do this because we don’t always know when the song is full length or not.
This is 3 parter from album as story goes on tru album Hmm "Map of the soul 7" is album name, "Interlude Shadow" is song name. The audio version from album have one more verse in the middle so song is minute longer. When in MV title is "comeback trailer" it mean it is trailer new album that will come, usually it is intro of album, hmm something like "we are coming back with new album here is a song that will show album vibe". So the vibe and story if album represent this 3 songs: "Intro: Persona" RM solo "Interlude: Shadow" Suga solo "Jutro: Ego" Jhope solo The style of songs are very different but all talk about understanding yourself and accepting all parts of youself... They are connected by Carl Jung idea of individualism, what is "I", as album is too.
A couple albums were based on Carl Jung’s psychological theories of the Persona, Shadow and Ego. These are trailers. This one’s name is Shadow. RM did Persona, and J Hope did Ego. The concept of the albums start to finish are amazing in my opinion, the group songs as well.
When these albums came out many people looked at Carl Jung’s work. BTS is always exposing us to books and art. People reading that didn’t care about it before. It’s one of the many reasons we love BTS. They make us smarter, kinder but a little too fierce in the comments. Remember that the really mean ones are not their fans, they like to make us look crazy and the critical ones come off harsher than intended, usually because English is not their first language and they are translating. Some cultures are more direct with criticism and I have to remind myself all the time. Thanks guys. I think you would like Suga/Agust D’S last album, D-Day.
This comment right here 👆🏽 for all the reasons but especially sorry for the overly hyped critical commenters. You’re obviously well-intentioned and knowledgeable. (One recent reactor is making me crazy b/c of his pedestrian aesthetics and narrow life exposure. 😅)
This is an excellent example of the solo songs they have within BTS, which is quite an unusual thing for a "boy band" to have. With Suga it's fairly easy to differentiate because he uses Agust D for his own solo projects outside the group but with the other members you either have to know, look it up or notice if it says "of BTS", for example Neva Play by Megan Thee Stallion feat. RM *of BTS* (the latest BTS related release). They're very aware of pointing out that they're still a group, especially during this time while they're serving in the military. Anyway, all that to point out that there's a difference between within or outside of the group, but both actually go pretty deep and are quite personal, just in different ways. Shadow, for example, is part of Swiss psychiatrist Carl Jung's personality model Map Of The Soul which they've used as inspiration for two albums. I honestly think that creative freedom/outlet is why they have been able to stay together for so long without suffocating as individual artists. 💜
The full version with the extra verse is on the album, and he peformed the full version in their online concert during the pandemic, and his solo world D-Day Tour, and I had the opportunity actually see him at his D-Day concert in Oakland, CA in May 2023, before he enlisted for his mandatory military service. BTS will come back together in June 2025.
Again, part of this is something you don't understand. ARMY has to maintain clarity when we say things because media follows our posts. Beyhive, Swifties and a few others have fandoms the size of us. But you have no idea about how the media/music industry in the US and SK have such disdain for BTS because they aren't receiving money for playlisting, radio, favorable news stories etc. Billboard chart changes since 2020 has mostly been because of BTS and ARMY. De-valuing sales over radio has been because ARMY buys music. So we are very careful how we move on social media channels because they are just WAITING for something so they can try and hurt us. So if you see posts like that, many times it's because we can't afford to be flippant. Of course some are because of angry people (every fandom has them) but we also recognize our power.
Given recent events this video is even more poignant. The intense interest in Suga and what amount to media persecution since his scooter incident proves exactly the price of fame.
You are correct, there is another verse on the album version. The Map Of The Soul albums explore the theory by Carl Jung. The soul/self is divided into sections - Persona, Shadow and Ego. It’s a whole thing and worth looking into.
My favorites from SUGA happen to be his trilogy, 'Daechwita', 'Haegum' and 'Amygdala' also 'Snooze' for his other beautiful side. But the rest of the Boys have been left out. My suggestion would be for Jin- 'The Astronaut', Jimin- 'Set me free pt. 2' as the more resent and 'Serendipity' from his singles in the BTS music, for Kim Taehyung (V) - 'Singularity' also from BTS music and lastly for JK- 'Standing next to you' from his album and 'Euphoria' from BTS.

To know how scared he is of the height fate has lifted him along with his band mates in BTS. Billboard and Variety both wrote about it. The whole thing was insanity and this insanity is still going. "Map of the Soul 7" is the title of the album. "Interlude- Shadow" is the title of the track. Comeback trailers are MVs made of a shorter version of the audio track from the album as a teaser for the album release. Another example of this is the track "Serendipity" Comeback trailer from their album, "Lover Yourself - Her". We just say "Shadow" or "Serendipity"... no need to read the entire album and full track title.

This whole album is based on Jungian psychology. This is Suga's solo song based on the concept of the Shadow. Their other rapper RM did a solo song based on the concept of the Persona. For me the point of Shadow is in the trilogy of it with RM's Persona and J-Hope's Ego and Jung's concept of the self. When the beat drops and you get the autotune personifying the Shadow, it's telling him I am you and you are me, do you understand? The harder things are the more we need to join forces you need to grasp and bring me up to your consciousness... My take on it 🤷😊💜
Love this Reaction and Song!! Like the comments have said, there is an Album version of this song!! As well as some of their other Songs!! I know Boy with Luv feat. Halsey There is an album version of that as well an Army version where She in fact Has a longer verse in the song!! I don’t know exactly why this Song ( Shadow ) isn’t longer for the MV other it’s just to give you a little taste of the album or it’s simply a Middle between RM’s Song that starts off the Album ( intro Persona ) and Jhopes song ( Outro Ego ) but I do know if you Find the album versions of some songs they Usually are a little longer on the Album.!!
Although this isn’t the first song on the Album it is the Comeback trailer it is placed in between ( Intro Persona and Outro Ego ) in the album line up but if you do listen to the album version I believe the song is longer!!
Well, there is full song on Spotify/Album and it has one extra verse compared to YT trailer. I think you would like it, so if you have time please give it a go :) Thank you for another reaction to BTS :)

Try smiling, what are you hesitating for?
Wasn't this the kind of thing you were hoping for?
Or cry instead, what are you scared of?
Wasn't this the kind of thing you'd been wanting?
The life you hoped for, the life you wanted
The life you chose, you achieved everything without regrets
And on top of that, you have a big house, big cars, big rings
All the things you wanted, you've got it all
So what's the problem? Just enjoy it
Or just let it go, no? Then run, or stop
Don't whine, just choose one or the other
You're saying I never told you that? (Yeah, yeah)
You're asking me if I really didn't know? (Oh no)
I'll simply take just as much as you own, whatever it is
That at times, your rest becomes your fall
Do you finally get it? That giving it your best effort every time is what it means to do your best
BTS makes people who don’t like rap love it. I saw him live. Best concert I’ve ever seen

My take on it 🤷😊💜
It’s definitely longer just not shown in the trailer

I think you would like it, so if you have time please give it a go :)

I miss how army was years ago but oh well 🥲
This is a trailer, not the official MV. Please react to the MV; it’s so much better!
This is the only official mv for that song, but yes there is a longer studio version of the song itself.
This IS the official MV, what are you even talking about? 🤡
