If Toyota could reproduce this vintage FJ40 exactly same as original... even a slight touch with current technology would be a smash hit everywhere in the world!
I purchased an FJ40 brand new in 1977 for $5600 in upstate New York. It was my first new vehicle and i remember it like it was yesterday. Several of my friends had them along with Land Rovers. It was a fantastic truck for off-roading. Nice job on the restore. Wish i had kept mine.
Absolutely amazing! Thank you for sharing. Its a shame that simple vehicles like this aren't made anymore, I don't think there would be enough people to appreciate it. This beauty is going to last another hundred years. I'd love to get my hands on one some day.
So flawless it looks like a plastic toy! What a restore! Seen these fetch 6 figures at high auctions for this type of restore. Beautiful! these things are cooool!
Have no words to describe my feelings for this Beauty.... Its amazing and a great work has done for restoration with stunning video record with pictures. I wish for the same Oh God. give me One Please.
What a restoration! Masterfully done. I’m impressed. Would cost more than I’ve ever made to do this work, but there is not doubt as to the dedication level of this work!👍🏻👍🏻
My first LandCruiser was a 77 FJ40 also. I loved it. Bought it used for $1700 cash in Belleville, Illinois in the mid 80s and drove it immediately from there to the Navajo Reservation where we used it as it came in street tires no less the entire four years we were out there in four corners area working for the IHS. Great rigs! We liked it so much when we got rid of it we missed it and I did find it after trading it for a Toyota truck but the guy wouldn't part with it so I bought a 76 very close to the same and rebuilt it. Later we owned a 88 FJ62 also. Sluggish and slow, mostly bad for the lower back in the short wheelbase if you do a lot of long highway drives but otherwise the best most reliable day in and day out off road commuter around! We drove all ours rough for years over rough terrain in four corners, later in Alaska and Washington State and we weren't replacing a lot of parts or having the issues other model drivers were having. Just sayin' they are tough as nails these things!
Had an 84 2F Shorty, was my first 4x4, loved it to bits and eventually parted with it in exchange for an 80 Series - Would I go back?... na, I wouldn't as they were bloody hard on the back and needed a ton of $$$ thrown at them to sort the suspension out. In Australia we flipped the front springs and fitted longer 60 Series units in the rear which slightly stretched the wheel base - this, and a good set of shocks made them more capable and more importantly comfortable!
Giday mate, I know you commented on this ages ago but do you know if this works for a fj45 ute? I'm currently restoring one and having a nice ride / more flex would be great!

I have a 68 fj40... the ride was stiff as can be... I removed one of the leaf springs from each pack and it made a huge difference in the ride

Stunning FJ but the music and editing are really dated and would be more appropriate for someone showing their EDC collection.

Jerry Seinfeld owns this thing...iirc...
Boh... maybe I am wrong, but isn't it useless to restore a car that doesn't need to be restored?
Here’s a FJ40 restoration animation: ruclips.net/video/UVF4Hex_AsQ/видео.html
