As is known, Soviet culture and art was not only an aesthetic and educational phenomenon, but also a powerful ideological weapon. The paper examines whether one of the artistic branches of Soviet culture - animation, whose target audience was mainly children and teenagers - was an exception in this respect and whether it contributed to the establishment of socialist values in the young generation.
The focus is on how the stories related to the Greco-Roman world were presented in the animation of the Soviet period. Based on a detailed analysis of Soviet animated films, the paper will examine why Soviet animators turned to antiquity, how they supported Soviet ideology, and whether it was used for political socialization of society.
