    I usually like MCN content, but if you're going to do a commute comparison surely you should pick a route that you actually know?
    Verdict = Pointless

      The point being "Let's feature a Honda product." perhaps. Couldn't watch more than half of it.

    This video could so easily have been so much better. Create a like-for-like comparison of two people who actually know where they are going, compare the times and compare the costs. That would have been useful and interesting. Instead you've just offered lame monkeypox jokes and tired cliches about public transportation.

    • @MrHugawa

      agree 100%.... useless comparison, may have been even if the bus driver was lost 3 or 4 times too

    • @andyjackson5
      @andyjackson5 2 года назад +2

      yeah i thought this too. all this was.. was a race to see who got lost the least amount of times. pick a start point and a destination you both actually know and do this fairly. absolutely pointless.

      Agree 100%. I have the choice of commuting on my Himalayan or taking the tube. I know the tube is slightly faster on average, though it costs more.
      Start from a home, finish at a place of work, knowing what the route is. This was totally rubbish and I learned nothing.

    The thing about commuting is most people know how to get to where they work. You know, since they do it every day.

    man who prefers motorcycles gets lost and chooses to take the bike anyway in shocker to no-one. there was no commentary on costs, theft and accident rates in cities, issues or benefits of public transport etc. Who was this video supposed to be for?

    Maybe attach sat-nav to your handlebars?
    I'm surprised a quality publication like MCN uploaded this cringeworthy video.

    I commute daily into Central London from South London (about 13 miles) on my F750 GS. At peak times, public transport is about 10-15 mins faster, but the bike is never late, and with the panniers fully loaded all my lab equipment can happily be moved around :) Dedicated bike street parking is free with ground anchors in borough of Camden (varies by borough throughout London) and no ULEZ / Congestion Charge applies to newer bikes so the only costs are the fuel / insurance / bike costs. If I go in early (leave around 6:30), the bike is 20 mins quicker than the public transport journey. Only downside is you can't go for after work drinks if you've come in on the bike!!

  • @sarahlivingstone8367
    @sarahlivingstone8367 2 года назад +10

    My other half goes into London - costs £38/day. Return trip on say, an NC750 around £9 at todays mad fuel prices. Even after 3 years, the bike would have a resale value, whereas a train ticket is worthless after use.

    For £20 you can buy a mount for your phone and a helmet with Bluetooth connectivity will help direct. Preparation is the key for any journey.

    To be honest: this is a very bad example. You could at least, like normal people do, know where you are going.

  • @rondar2

    This totally depends on how many changes you need to make in public transport. If you are lucky enough to go wherever you want to go with no change or very few changes public transport will be faster. If you need to make 3-4 changes however bike will be faster.

    I enjoyed the video, disregard the haters. You mentioned the 125cc is just about up to the job. I imagine the newer 160cc would be perfect. What do you think. I am considering that option.

    There's great feeling of freedom living in London and not owning a vehicle (other a bicycle). You never worry about scumbags following you to see where it's parked at night.

    I'd much rather do this daily trip on my 390 Duke. I also have a scooter, an Aerox 155, so I'm not anti-scooter. As for doing 70 mph on one, I wouldn't fancy it.

  • @jd2ndacct431

    This could have been so much better. No times of what either party took to complete the journey. No actual comparison for the audience to take away from it. Seemingly no idea of the commute route. Very little explanation of the scooter or the journey by public transport. Felt a rushed, vague, poorly edited and planned video that was just a box ticker for number of videos needed in a month. MCN is usually very good content but this wasn't at all.

  • @petegallows5494
    @petegallows5494 Год назад

    What's the point of a "race", when you have no idea where you're going, or how to get there? It has zero to do with the mode of transportation and everything to do with having some sort of clue.
    A fair comparison would be, we're both leaving from point A at the same time, we're going to a point B, which we know where it is and how we're supposed to get there. It's a commute to work, for heaven's sake, not Amazing race. If you get lost 5 times and going the wrong way, it's not the scooter's fault...

    Sadly this looks like the beginning of the slippery slope, all you need now is 2 other middle aged blokes in jeans to all take the piss out of each other, and maybe drop a caravan from a crane onto a moped, wouldn't that be entertaining ! And no longer a show about motorcycles. Thumb very down.
