    R.I.P. Gary Rossington. I'm glad you survived & were able to help resurrect Lynyrd Skynyrd in 1987. Very cool you were still playing in your band until the end in 2023 🙏✌️

    The mental trauma of surviving a fatal plane crash. Coping with your own painful physical injuries. Trying to deal with the unimaginable survivor's guilt from knowing your closest friends died. Knowing your career has probably ended. All of it just in the time it took for a plane to fall. That's what he and the other survivors went through. I can't imagine the pain. God bless them and their loved ones.

      Life can change in an instant, blink of an eye. Why its so important that you try your very best to have a positive disposition each and every day and to remind yourself just how fragile life is. We all live in our own safe, little worlds and tend to forget sometimes about just how temporary this life is and how quick everything can change. Take care.

      I love seeing younger people give this band their due. I was 17 when the plane crashed, and the news hit me hard. Allen Collins, Ed King, and Steve Gaines were awesome talented guitarist, but for me, Gary was the sound of that band.

    Back in the old days they used to cover the mirror in a house where there’s been a death because the soul of the dead person wanders around for three days, and it should not see itself in the mirror-if this happens the mirrors will tarnish and never be clean again, or in days to come the mirror will turn and make a picture of the dead. i found that to be interesting, sad, and spooky when he said he could see their faces in the flowers for like 3 days.

We all live in our own safe, little, "controlled", worlds, and we tend to forget sometimes, just how temporary this life is and how quick everything can change. You do the best with what you've got and you leave the rest to take care of itself. People have lost touch with one another and they've seem to forgotten that life isn't meant to be spent worrying and fighting non-stop. The only relevant question in the end? How was it spent. Pl&e.

    I was heart broken as a teenager, just after seeing what would be one of my most favorite bands ever. Gary seems like such a nice man. I agree, with his “goofy” comment. I think the lifestyle has taken its toll, ‘oohh that smell’. After watching many interviews and reading a lot I agree again, Gary is lucky to be alive. I wonder what Lynyrd Skynyrd would have been like if they all survived. One said that the band was getting close to going through BIG changes. Ronnie was trying to clean up per Gene. Issues with Management. There were potentially conflicts within. I’m just a fan, who reads and reads between the lines. Gary, please make peace with Arty. Arty, please let go of the memories and make peace. Gary, enjoy your retirement. It’s time……………almost Fifty Years since LS died. You’ve paid tribute long enough. Let the “Free Bird” be free.

      No one has the right to tell a true, legendary musician of Gary's caliber when they should stop doing what they love and live for. Gary knew what to do with his life. Only Gary. How dare you tell him when he had paid tribute long enough. That was something so deep and personal for him and only he knew what he needed to do with his life.

    • @MP-ju4ol
      @MP-ju4ol Год назад +1

      @@peterbilt-bo1vy I agree that no one has the right to tell anyone how to liv3 their life. In another stream, I wrote how grateful I was to Gary for cement8n* th3 legacy that was Lynyrd Skynyrd. He said, “this is all I know how to do”. He truly had an angel on his shoulder, how could he not believe he was here for a reason.
      I was merely voicing my opinion based on those within stating facts about rules (rule of 3) being* broken, “blood oaths” also being broken. Money played a BIG reason at the time. Sometimes, with age comes wisdom. It did come to Gary, but opinions may argue when. Lynyrd Skynyrd died the evening that plane went down and some never walked out. The last of LS was given Tribute too in 1987. After that it was legacy building. Good music, for sure but not LS. Gary, a great guitarist (self taught), writer, storyteller, and good soul is with his loved ones now. Gary did live his life the way he wanted and I admire him. RIP. Lynyrd Skynyrd is playing that great gig in the sky.

      @@danshafer6026 Gary flat out does hate Artimus and at one point he said that Artimus wasn't really "going for help" but I think Artimus DID go for help but ultimately did wind up greatly embellishing his story. There are interviews on youtube with those that helped in the rescue who bluntly say that it's a lie that Artimus "got shot" that night. Just last week Artimus did an interview where he claims that the WIFE of the guy who owned the farmhouse shot him and confronted him about it at the Skynyrd crash site memorial. It's on the Musician's Hall of Fame Channel if you want to watch it. I personally think Artimus is full of crap in a lot that he says about Ronnie giving him a "hippie handshake" and all that.

      @@danshafer6026 it is true & it wasn't just Gary, Billy & Leon for sure. I can't speak for Allen because I never heard him say anything abt it.
      Artimus did this movie for the money & band fought him on it but a judge finally ruled he could tell story from his perspective & he made things up & lied to make it seem more like he was the big hero, he saved everybody & got shot in the process.
      It was well documented that 3 men went for help, Artimus, Mark Frank & Ken Peden crew guys & they made it to Johnny Motes's house who thought they were escape prosoners & he had a gun but he did not shoot Artimus. When reporter ask him why movie only shows him goin for help when 3 other guys went, he says they were not there. That is not perspective that is sensationalism & I think he did it to make himself look like only hero.
      There were other things he made up as well. He made it look like he & Ronnie were best friends when Ronnie's closest friends were Gary, Allen & Gene Odom
