She was actually really lenient with her punishment. But what is messed up is the prince in the story. The original was he rapped her and then left, she got pregnant and gave birth while she was under the spell. Then the children ducked the prick out of her finger and she woke up to twins. But maleficent was in fact justified with what she chose as the punishment and the fairies should have ultimately been punished and even thrown out with how she was treated.

Just like malificent she only wanted love but got betrayed by the only man she loved. Just like snow whites mom she only wanted to be pretty cause people rejected her when she was young. Just like ursula she only wanted to be useful for the kingdom and fight for the kingdom.
I remember watching this in the living room with my lucky charms thinking I’m watching all my favorite villains stand up to themselves. I’ve always been on the villains side.
I just realized as a little girl i always wanted to be the hero i was a crazy fanatic of superheros and knights....now i realize i am rooting for the villains nearly 98% of the time. lol

I always thought that Ursula was the most sympathetic of the female Disney Villains (if you go by the original movies, and ignore Maleficent). She wasn't trying to trick Ariel or to attack her. She was just doing her job; offering her spells for the price that each client had to achieve in the time frame, and shifting them into the plant things if they default. She made a contract and explained the terms of it to Ariel; the mermaid was the one stupid enough to sign it.
Uh...Ursula wanted Tridon's throne. After Ariel signed the contract she went to the land of man herself to make sure Ariel would fail in her quest to make Eric fall in love with her. Granted Ariel was pretty naive, but Ursula had, by no means, innocent intentions.
But all the deals and consequences were written in the contract, it did not state that she will not interfere Ariel, so what she was doing is kinda legit, even though it's wrong :]

Actually, Maleficent's spell was meant to kill sleeping beauty, but one of the fairies changed it so she could be awakened by her true love. So, technically, Maleficent's still in the wrong.

The newest movie isn't really acurate about the original story, as are the other stories. Or did you really believe that Snow White was fighting armed with sword and shield against the evil queen in the original story? In the original story she was just angry that she wasn't invited by the king and queen and thus cursed the princess. The new version of the "good" Maleficent is just something Hollywood was making up. If you Keep it with the original fairy tales, all of them ARE evil. Maleficent wanted revenge, as wanted Ursula, the evil Queen was possessed by her being the fairest woman in her realm and Cruella was a true fashion artist and didn't care about the "material". So more or less they embodied sins and general immoral behavior.

Ursula and triton are actually siblings she wanted to get revenge on him for treating her like garbage

the woman playing Cruella has by far the most amazing and fitting facial expression. She could easily play the part in a movie and be convincing. The make up and costume also helps a lot.

The newest movie isn't really acurate about the original story, as are the other stories. Or did you really believe that Snow White was fighting armed with sword and shield against the evil queen in the original story? In the original story she was just angry that she wasn't invited by the king and queen and thus cursed the princess. The new version of the "good" Maleficent is just something Hollywood was making up.
If you Keep it with the original fairy tales, all of them ARE evil. Maleficent wanted revenge, as wanted Ursula, the evil Queen was possessed by her being the fairest woman in her realm and Cruella was a true fashion artist and didn't care about the "material". So more or less they embodied sins and general immoral behavior.
