Nice work! You passed me right in the beginning. I was lucky enough to finish but I thought the heat was brutal. I had no opportunity to acclimate during the spring. It's nice to relive the lows and highs.
Congrats on another epic adventure! When you said your knee was still swollen from your fall, but you'd tested it with a 10 mile run, so let's see how it does for 100 miles... 😆 honestly, you're the only RUclipsr where I had no doubt you'd finish anyway. That burger looked delicious, and the gratuitous butt shots were too funny.
I knew it wasn't toooo bad and could definitely finish. What I wasn't sure was if I'd aggravate it, which would put the whole summer Leadman/Grand Slam at risk. Turned out in between - not much worse, but also didn't feel 100%. So I actually opted out of doing Bishop 100K the week later to run 55k instead.
They were fine by me. Depends always what you compare to and what you need - plenty enough of option for me and fully relied on them for food and drink. Probably not as crazy good as Cocodona/Sedona which I just did but still fine. They had warm food and stuff at night. A little far apart so that’s something to know especially in the heat of the day. First aid station (and last - it’s the same) was a bit more minimal, which scared me. But then much better. I think there was two spot of water only which were kinda useful.
Yes, full race no crew no pacer, but I often do that. The aid stations were great and enough support for me. The night was fine - easy to navigate, good temperature, but a bit lonely. I think I only saw 2-3 runners all night. It’s a great race - one of my favorite ever! A bit on the hard side (heat, no shade, long stretches without aid station, lot of elevation, tight cutoff). But I think the race director will give more time this year. Gorgeous course, good vibes, well organized.

Congrats! It was a hard one for sure …now they add to cut off and do later for less sun!
Your video is so fun and engaging! I'm thinking of doing a SAMO race so really appreciate the look at the terrain and surroundings.
I guess you saw it, but she rebranded them Malibu Canyon
@@runningwithsimon Oh, thank you! I've been looking at the KH races, so that's great info.

Great recap. Way to persevere!
Thanks!
Cool video. How are the aid support stations? Good, great or bad? Thank you.

Congratulations!! I’m going to attempt this race in 2023. Did you run the entire race with out a pacer? How was it at night going at it alone?
