Wow! That's amazing! How old are you now? My 3 month old nephew was born 9 weeks premature weighing 1 lb 10 oz. He just graduated from the NICU this past Sunday 2 days before he turned 3 months old!
What a wonderful person Pawpaw is. This story really touched my heart. My son was in the NICU because he was born premature. 3 days after being born doctors told me he may not make it through the day. I couldn't hold him so I just touched him and let him know how much he was loved. He made it through that day and many days since. He will be turning 23 yo next week. Love is a powerful medicine. Several years ago the youngest of my five children was born prematurely. He couldn't breathe on his own and had to be rushed to the NICU over a hundred miles away. God touched him and he only had to stay for a short time, but the whole NICU experience touched my heart. It is so sad that for a variety of reasons not every child is able to have family visit them. It really broke my heart. The ones who step in and share their time with the babies in need are a special blessing indeed. They are there, behind the scenes, but doing such an important job. They all deserve a big thank you!
Yes, I miss my granddad... I remember he walked with a cane slight hunch and move very slowly. He took me to the corner store one day and this car barley slammed on the breaks at a red light and my granddad with a burst of speed he pulled me to safety 😊 after we were safely in the sidewalk he rose to his full height cane raised high in the air about ready to kick their behinds lol I had to calm him down 🙆 he was over 80 years old then, I was really young. Rip to my hero. 😔

Lost my beloved Grandfather two months back and half part of me is gone with him. I am 27 years old and I have lived all my 27 years with him. Generous, Kind,most loving and one of the most intelligent men I had ever seen. He was an Angel walking on Earth. Loved us dearly, even more than his own kids. I called him Dad before calling my father. His existence and presence was so peaceful that I could sit with him all the day and do nothing and still feel loved and protected. God, I miss Him so much. I had 3 babies in that nicu and they are amazing. The cuddlers and the nurses head NICU doctors are so amazing at USA children's and women's. My 21 weeker was 12oz is now 19, my 24 weeker 1lb 7.5 oz is now 16, my 34weeker is 6lb 15oz now 13. All very healthy mouthy and happy. Thank you for posting this.
As a NICU mom, I have seen this in person. I never left my twins during their 78 day stay, but there was a baby that didn't have anyone and they called in a cuddles and it melted my heart to know that if my kids needed it they could have had someone to cuddle them. Bless this man

Thank you for the heart-warming story. Thirty years ago when my oldest was constantly in Egleston Hospital, you'd see these volunteers. Not every parent was as fortunate as myself and my ex-wife. Many had to work or lived too far away to be there. These volunteers would show up, never judging, just loving.
I love this so much. My daughter was 12 wks early, 1 lb 7 oz and spent 3 months in the NICU. She’s 12 now and I will be forever thankful for the people who stepped in to love on her when I couldn’t be there.

My Mama dreamed of doing this when she retired. She lost a lot of strength in her arms and didn't feel confident enough to hold those babies once she retired. She was afraid that she would drop them, and so she didn't pursue her dream. I lost her in 2013.
My son was in nicu for 10 days when he was born, due to being a preemie. This unit was the place where all of the angels of the hospital lived everyday. Just amazing! 🥰
I volunteer full time at local hospitals. I wish they would let me do this. I work one day a week in the ICU waiting room and the rest of the time at the front desk. Love what I am doing but would be in heaven doing this one day a week.

We used to have "baby rockers" at a hospital where I once worked. Babies with physical contact are said to do better and respond to treatment quicker. I don't know if they kept up the program. People and things seem different now.

We used to have "baby rockers" at a hospital where I once worked. Babies with physical contact are said to do better and respond to treatment quicker. I don't know if they kept up the program. People and things seem different now.
I am sure this man is a true blessing to every parent with a baby in the NICU. 💜💜💜💜💜💜 . There needs to be more people like him.
