This is very helpful! Was wondering, and honestly will have to investigate myself to find resources, but would love to find an online group focusing on this theme ... over 60 and needing to make changes in life. I'm an at-60-COVID-layoff, they used as an excuse to clear out older employees honestly. We made a lot more than those incoming, plus had more invested. But didn't place my human value in that, thank God. However, want to create a new income, make other changes, and am finding other than WalMart (which I worked at for several months), not many are hiring people over 60, even though our skills are up to date, and often times have the maturity and insight the younger's don't. In any event not having family (none at all honestly now that mom passed last year), would love to find some support online of a group or other. This video is stellar!!
Thank you for sharing that. I lost my husband last Summer. He was 64. I was a homemaker and his business associate. When he got sick, I became his caregiver. Unfortunately, we went through all our savings and sold our home in Maine. I came to Florida. Now that he is gone, I have sold everything that I had left. Not much for money. But enough to possibly start up the business we were in briefly in the last recession. I hope to recover financially. using this business in the current recession. If that fails, I am going to get a truck and a small camper and stay at cheaper rv parks across the U.S. So lots of changes coming my way. It helped to hear your story. Thanks.
Thanks for sharing your experience, Nikki, I can relate to so much of what has happened to you. Emotional, physical, and financial recovery are all possible, and will take time, but I can see that you have vision and motivation, and a plan! I wish you the best as you enter this new phase of your life.
Wow, all credit to you, women seem to be able to deal with things so much more easily than men, I applaud you for this as a man. All of you women are amazing, I'm a 62 year old single man , afraid of everything.
Hi Candi- I love the way you broke down the steps to reinventing yourself. It's definitely been a long process for me. I've moved towards being a different person, in my 60's, through such a gradual process. Frankly, It would have been too overwhelming any other way. I am a happy, more confident person, as a result. Of course, I had a loving, supportive, spouse, beside me, the whole way. Loved this! Sharing to FB.
