Thanks to J. Cole for giving me the depth of interviews and inspiration to complete this two part series (for part 1 see my channel page). I went for a bit of a concept with this one, and it's pushed my own practice deeper into voiceover and storytelling. Hope you can see that just like all the creators in here, I too am working to improve my practice, and don't see any of these videos as a final form - just something that I'm really happy to put out, and at the same time will be hoping to improve for next time.

bro i'm turning 23 this thursday and before the new year, i've titled this year my "jordan" year where i resolved to taking everything i want with my passion for art. you truly made this at the right time.

Whenever anybody asks me how I handle creating music & art or performing live, this is the comparison I give them. Being a lifelong athlete and converting to another medium: you have a built-in mindset, tenacity, drive, & overall hunger to be great while also being able get in your zone & perform in high stress environments. That dawg mentality is translatable to anything in life you want to pursue. Such a dope video, thank you for creating this.

thanks for this video bro. "the creative athlete" is exactly who I am. I've been training since I was 14 but playing sports since I was 5, learned a couple instruments when I was about 10-12, and started making music when I was about 17. The parallels you've drawn are ones I have also noticed in my life. The way I train is so similar to the way I make music. Creating music is the fun bit, making beats, writing lyrics, etc. that's like playing basketball at the park with friends. But then I want to jump higher, so I learn how to do that. I study, I want my 808's hitting harder, I study how to do that. Then I practice, I build the base in the weight room, then train plyometrics and elastically. Then I use the 808's how I learned, use different 808 samples, in different beats, take note of how they interact with other instruments namely my voice etc.. then keep going, mixing and mastering the song is more like getting the sets done, it can be tedious, but you have to do it. I love both music, and training, they really set the foundation for the person I am. They've made me so much better. Suicidal to genuinely happy is the level I'm talking about.
