- I've had lots of requests to make more clear recipes, but this one stood out! Effectively a sort of consommé, this is a recipe for a clear tomato soup made using an egg white raft, best served cold! If you have a get together and someone asks for some water pull a prank on them and give them clear tomato soup instead.
I would buy that gadget Barry. I _hate_ chopping onions and that looks like it works well, apart from the broken blade.

Clear water is literally the hardest thing he could attempt. He should try making clear coconut water first to get a good idea of what he'll be doing.

Add a lot of gelatin to make it thick at a warm temperature. Gelatine usually becomes hard when cooled, but you can make it thick at warm food temperatures if you increase the amount you decide to add.
And, of cocurse, gelatin is clear.
Perfect for a clear not so bloody Mary.

CLEAR BLOODY MARYS
Simple explanation for why the soup was getting more or less red - bubbles. You mixed in air when blending, adding refraction and causing the mixture to seem more white (resulting in a pink color). While it boiled, the air started to escape, causing it to return to the original color.
You might want to invest in cheese cloth for future clear food escapades. It works better than paper towels in my opinion.
This is a literal tomato broth. I wonder what it would be like cooked down a bit, almost like a stock.

Years ago I ordered tomato soup in an Italian restaurant and was shocked when it was served. It was clear with a few tomato bits in it. Mine was served warm but was so delicious. I have thought of that soup for years because I have never seen anything like it since. Thanks for this awesome video. That was a lot of work.

Interesting. Now if you only had an old soda siphon or a counter-top carbonator you could use the finely filtered consomme to make a tomato soda or mix with vodka to create a new fizzy adult beverage you could call the Bloodless Mary.

I'm rather impressed with this one, not sure I'd try making it myself, but that's a pretty impressive recipe... :D
And as for the clear diet, yeah, that'd work, no fibre & very little carbs, should help people lose weight quickly... :P
Plus, with the amount of effort you have to spend on it, I doubt you'll be eating a lot in the first place.

Is it possible for clear Mac and cheese? Clear ketchup? Clear mashed potatoes? Clear gravy? Clear buns for burgers? Just try them all. Construct a 7 course meal and try it out as a family style dinner.

I'd use this to make clear tomato jelly, little cubes would make an interesting garnish for other dishes. I wonder if you could make other colourless jelly like basil flavoured?
The color of the blended tomatoes was clearer because you whipped air into them, and those little bubbles reflect light so the whole seems pinkish. That’s also the same thing that happens when you whip albumen (that is yellowish) into a very white and shiny meringue
The tomato when blended turns lighter in color because of air incorporating into it. It turned darker in color once the air has come out of the juice

nice one! i always wondered how this mysterious soup is made, but never bothered to actually look it up.
psyllium seed husks can be used as a clear thickener. it adds exactly that "licking your lips"-delightful, slightly creamy and sticky mouth feel of a heavy stock, that makes the flavour linger. a pinch works in wonders on chichen soup too.

Love this soup video. Made it and froze it in ice cube molds for bloody mary drinks. Works wonders for hangovers in place of V8 and serves a dual purpose of pranking lazy roommates who forget to refill the ice. Made my day watching my buddy run from his room to spit Pepsi and Tomato soup ice into the sink.

just in case you didnt know, consomme does not need to be cold (you said it quite a few times in the video) gazpacho is cold, consomme can be any temperature :) lots are best served hot

Honestly clarification is one of the coolest things. You can make pretty much most soups "clear" They'll keep a bit of color but when poured looks completely clear. I love doing this in school as the effect was fun
