The Ed Sullivan Show was a television variety program that aired on CBS from 1948-1971. For 23 years it aired every Sunday night and played host to the world's greatest talents. The Ed Sullivan Show is well known for bringing rock n' roll music to the forefront of American culture through acts like Elvis Presley, The Beatles, and The Rolling Stones. The entertainers each week ranged from comedians like Joan Rivers and Rodney Dangerfield, to Broadway stars Julie Andrews and Richard Burton, to pop singers such as Bobby Darin and Petula Clark. It also frequently featured stars of Motown such as The Supremes, The Temptations, Stevie Wonder and The Jackson 5. The Ed Sullivan Show was one of the only places on American television where such a wide variety of popular culture was showcased and its legacy lives on to this day.

Back when music was music and everyone had their own style of a lot of stories they loved to sing about 🤓
Back when there was real singers, writers and musicians. And above all else they had character and personality.
His voice is so poised. Beautiful performance.
“Blueberry Hill” was actually an oldie even in 1956. It goes all the way back to 1940 when it was recorded many times by artists such as Gene Krupa, Glenn Miller, and Gene Autry and Louis Armstrong a bit later.
No one could do blue berry hill. Like fat's domino and no one ever could loved by all .
Just look at that smile❤, RIP Bro🙏🏻💯🙏🏻
He doesn't get the credit he deserves. He had more charted hits than Chuck, Jerry and Little Richard combined. Absolutely loved this song.
No one except Elvis had more charted hits in the 50's
@outlawrickenbacker *Fisher
Google is also your friend
@outlawrickenbacker I was not talking about consecutive hits, but most hits in the 50's,read what I said"
No such thing as charted “hits”. There’s thousands upon thousands of songs that have charted and weren’t hits. Fats was amazing. Great catalog. But he doesn’t have more “hits” than Chuck and Little Richard. Just not true. Maybe he technically charted more, but there’s so many variables in that stat. Fats had 11 top ten hits, Chuck had 15 and Little Richard had 14.
remember that Fats had more commercial success than Chuck or Little Richard because he leaned into a presentation that was "palateable" for white people of the time. Not taking credit away from him, and he made great music, but he also made sacrifices for commercial success
Elvis himself pointed to Fats Domino and proclaimed he was the King of Rock and Roll.
Love this
Domino was present among an audience of 2,200 people at Elvis Presley's first concert at the Las Vegas Hilton on July 31, 1969. At a press conference after the show, when a reporter referred to Presley as "The King." Presley gestured to Domino, who was watching the scene. "No," Presley said, "that's the real king of rock and roll."
Ricky Nelson's break through came with Fats Domino's I'm Walkin. They were both signed to Imperial Records. One of Ricky's final tours was with Fats Domino 1985. Rick passed away, way before Fats, but may they both rest in peace and be singin together in heaven. Peace, Michael Angelo
Amen and Thanks too you Elvis Presley for really crediting Fats domino
Fats Domino lived a wonderful life that he made millions of people very happy and loved by his music
Sweet song
The amount of confidence it must take to look DIRECTLY INTO THE CAMERA while performing, Fats was a real one.
Ed sulivan uses lip syncing
@@armand2615 This performance is live, as most were on the Ed Sullivan show, at least in this early era
Man didn't look at the piano 1 time after he started signing...wow
ElvisPresley Called Him The King Of Rock And Roll
That smile was so much a part of Fats Domino. If this appearance on TESS was truly solo, The Ray Bloch Orchestra did a good job of emulating Dave Bartholomew's band, though the drummer was hitting the snare more like a carpenter to my ears.
@@jackstubbington387 And aren't we thankful!?!!
He was always so cheerful 😊
Bo Diddly did a one night concert in the side bar at the Old Jamison Inn in Canberra in the late 1980s. Someone in the small crowd asked him to sing Blueberry Hill. He refused. Said "Only one man can sing that song. My old friend Fats. He the Man!". Bo sat at the bar until 2am chatting to us. He said Fats was the finest gentleman and a true friend. One of a kind❤️🖤
Cool story. Thanks for posting.
Nice
He was incredible, and a very cheerful gentleman….👍
Fats must have done that same great act of showmanship of rising from the piano ten thousand times and it still gives you chills.
👊👊👏👏👏👏👏show
This reminds me so much of my grandpa who used to listen to this kind of music. Sadly he passed away from Liver Cancer in 2014.
Rest in Peace Grandpa! ❤
Fats Domino had a longer list of chart records than most of the rock and roll legends, but incredibly, he was only on the Ed Sullivan show twice! Of course, Ed didn't go for the heavier rock and roll much during the '50's, as Chuck Berry was never on the show, and Jerry Lee was only on once in the late '60's, but never when he was really wild. Little Richard also never appeared on the Sullivan show, and Bill Haley and Buddy Holly were only on twice, the same as Domino. Fats had a tamer sound than most of the rock and rollers (but a very distinctive, joyful and infectious sound), and maybe partly as a result of this, he had more hits than the rest (besides Elvis, of course).
In the '60's, there were also plenty of top record stars who were never on the Sullivan show; Gene Pitney, Bobby Vee, Del Shannon, Johnny Tillotson, etc, never appeared. Even Roy Orbison and Dion were only on once. Ed rarely had girl groups on his show (except for the older more adult groups like the McGuire Sisters, the Chordettes, the Andrews Sisters) until the Supremes came along. The Angels were one of the few exceptions, and they were only on once and only performed one song.
Thank you for sharing that interesting musical history.
@@1redmazda11 You're very welcome!
Elvis Presley ia lá direto ,não sei por que
The great fat's domino a brilliant singer and performer sadly no longer with us but left his voice with us to enjoy and remember his brilliant voice sounds.
Fat domion was yhe best singer in the 19 50s
No one can sing this song like him. My grandfather was a huge fan. While all the kids were singing the newest rap songs or even country, I could sing Blueberry Hill and Ain't that a shame word for word lol.
Cheerful attitude. Adorable personality
When Fats smiles, the world stood still.
What an amazing talent.
Here's a true story for ya...Fats went to see Elvis play in Vegas (circa 1970). After the show Elvis was chatting to an interviewer backstage while Fats hung around chatting to people. The interviewer referred to Elvis being the King of Rock 'n' Roll, Elvis basically said "No, man" - he pointed to Fats and said "THAT'S the king of Rock 'n' Roll, right there". This genuinely happened, I'll try and find the source/interview.
Amen to that!!! ❤️

Rock n' Roll did spawn in the southern states of America, however, Fats Domino coming from New Orleans Louisiana, technically was not Rock n' Roll it was a local inspired version of rhythm and blues.
I used to confuse Fats Domino with Canadian Jazz legend Oscar Peterson as they bear some resemblance to each other....
Che bella e dolce canzone!
Grazie🙏❤⚘
There has to be a longer version. 💞
Love this!!!
Back then people didn’t complain about gospel music….America was a Christian nation, and it showed! Respect, and you didn’t have the problems we see today. God ruled, and we respected those who attended church, and served God! 🙏
This is Vladimir Putin's favorite song in english
Fats does a great version of The Beatles Lovely Rita.
The OG Biggie Smalls lol... This man kicks so much ass

Blueberry Hill was a pop standard that dated back to 1940.
Fats Domino had an international hit with it when he recorded his version on 27 June 1956, that sold a million and topped the R&B chart and peaked at #2 on the pop chart.
Elvis Presley Recorded a version on 19 January 1957 and was released on his Loving You Soundtrack Album in July 1957.
Un autre hit que j'ai beaucoup aimé
He was an expert on the piano
Didn’t even have to look at the piano!

Fabulous! Without Fats, there'd be much less rock n' roll..............and fewer rock n' roll and rock songs...........and no "Lady Madonna" from one Paul McCartney.

As a teenager, I'm no one to be hating on modern music because there's great cool new bands out there in the underground but damn this stuff doesn't get the appreciation is deserves from younger ppl.
the Fat Man is part of the Mount Rushmore of rock n roll!
