Bro you saved my a$$, after trying for 3 days on my monte Carlo with a soldering iron I couldn’t get the window hot enough for the solder to stick. The solder would melt but only bond to the connector. I did this and it finally worked thank you!!!!
Not the guys saying he's going to break it when he's clearly done this on hundreds of not 1000s of windows now I probably wouldn't use direct flame but there's certainly nothing wrong with this method as long as you know what your doing. I was trying the method with a lighter hoping for the same result but you definitely need a more precise flame if your want to go that route. I'm personally going to try tomorrow mourning with a soldering iron and hope she finally sticks
Surprising. What type of solder did you use? Tin solder?
Did you use solder paste?
Does it have to be placed to the same spot that it was at?....I have a 2011 Ford edge and the spot where it was is very difficult to get to...tried all of the glues and none of them worked.....soldering is my only hope....
Cool job!
But does it work afterwards?
BOSS LEVEL
I have a 2000 monte carlo that had its rear tab knocked off. I don't have a torch. Could I use a soldering iron?
Yes soldering iron will also work great
Do you need to put the tab back on a pristine part of the tab, or will it work where it was originally if it is bare glass now.
How do I get enough heat in the window for it to melt and adhere without damaging my window tint?
Kevin_xerman2001you just have to be careful. If the tint is really close I would use a soldering iron tip instead of the open flame
What kind of solder did you use?
Can I use monster glue on it
Please people don't do it I broke my rear window 😒 it broke in million pieces
dudeee you are gonna break your glass
Antonio García Luna I’ve probably repaired hundreds this way without breaking any...
@@texstarautoglass5326 I just did it for the first time & no breakage. Took the old tabs off w/the butane torch & figured I'd look up how to reattach & sure enough... Thanks for posting!
Gorilla glue plus copper wire, Gorilla glue will hold it and the copper wire will be a conductor.
Let me know how long your fix lasts please. I'm betting the glue will flex or expand with time and your connection will be lost.
