Damn this is my first experience with your game but that perspective change was absolutely beautiful. I really love how you get to keep the retro style but still have such an amazing and living world because of incredible the game looks in 2.5D
Love the easthetic of this game. The 3d shift definitely helps the world look and feel more alive to me. Definitely looking forward to the future of this game.
This is superb! I know only of a few pixel art games with billboarding, but they all look wonderful. There is something about mixing pixel art and 3D that just appeals to me. Keep up the good work, and have fun!
Omg I've been looking for this for my own game for ages - thank you for finding the beautiful elegant solution for how to transition all this 2D pixel work to 3D render - you've balanced this look development quite beautifully, this is such an inspiration
I loved the previous version and I also love this (reminds me a bit of Don't Starve Together), super excited to see where this leads! keep up the amazing work man, really enjoy these devlogs :)
First time watching one of your videos, but from the footage you showed I can say that 3D looks much better for your project. And this is coming from someone that loves 2D more than 3D.
That fucking snail lol, so cute. I was just sprawling through 2d Unity stuff and seen this and had to watch it. Glad I did, good job on this, it looks like such a wholesome game, regardless of which you stick with.. although the 3d snail is what brought me here but yeah, should be proud of your work!
I kinda wish that there was a Pokémon game with this style. Also, the change is working pretty well for your game. Good luck with the rest of development!
Now this type of game aesthetic I can get behind :) This is my favourite kind of 3D perspective and style (billboarding), like the older Elder Scrolls games, System Shock 1, Hexen, Heretic, Doom 1 and 2, and Fighting Fantasy: Warlock Atop Fire Mountain (NDS). Also, you can stealth while hiding in bushes. Your character is just small enough :) Looking forward to new updates. Subbed.
Ahhh this is amazing!! I loved seeing your game and how your prototype looked!!! I am wanting to make a game and i knew i wanted sprite buildboarding but had no idea what the wording would look like!!! Tysm and i hope your game is going well!!!!!
Woooooww Let me congratulate you cause this really looks very very neat!! Compared to your previous 2D design the 3D look so alive and explorable! If you made a tutorial for this I would be very, very thankful to you. Or if you could recommend other tutorials or resources! Good job
I think it looks so cool. For me way better than the top down view, there are toon of top down view games, and not that much with mix of 3D and 2D assets.
I know I'm late but this looks absolutely beautiful, has such a different feel than the 2d version and I completely agree with your thoughts on exploration in a 3d environment... gonna go look up what you're doing rn lol
this gave me a really nice idea 💕thank you alot i am also doin a big change and its changing the game engine of my game to unity it will be worth it like the change u made to ur game
I think this is looking really awesome!! I would love to see a tutorial on how you got the sprite billboarding done. Great devlog series you have as well.
In 3D really it will bé bought a lot i think , Every one IS doing 2D only on this type of indie game but in 3D pixelised and all it's glorious , also your daggerfall influence with dungeon in mind, yeah sounds really nice, i would recommend maybe some housing or place to stay and stock all thé stuff and items, i don't know your channel, but if you are planning to put this game on thé market, i will buy it for sure 👍👌
I just found out about your game and its realy something what ive been longing for. I plan to (try) and make a game to, even if its just for trying, that is a bit alike. I have a whole story planned but coding xD I hope this game will be playable some day ! Ill be here!
I love your process, I'll be sure to check out your latest project as well! Are you able to share how you coded the sprite to move in x and z axis while transitioning btwn walk and idle states as displayed by your content? I've been trying to apply math for days onto my code, attempting to mix up methods such as applying my input system and billboard coding--just something to execute what you accomplished. I understand developers take lots of pride in their testing and keep it close, but I'd really appreciate your generous feedback. Thank you.☺
I Dig The New Style!! Makes the Game Feel More Alive!! Like 👍🏻 The Verticality As Well!! Cool 😎 Forest 🌳 And Like 👍🏻 The Monsters Roaming Around Too!! Good 👍🏻 Update.
I really love this game it looks cute! I do wondering how do we fix motion sickness in game like this… i was working on my hd2d game, so far only have camera follow the character, but I feel gross after a couple minutes which slowing down my progress a lot😵
Great and amazing content just curious as for billboarding is it possible to make the image change as you look at a different angle using the main camera?
You mean to swap for a different sprite? If so, yes, As I change the angles of the camera, the sprites change to side and back view and it all depends on the viewing angle.
Hi did you use any tutorial to learn how to do this in Unity? I am looking for the same feel (of 2D mixture with more open world) for my BA project which is also a game. I was struggling with finding what way I wanted it to look but felt it shouldn't be 2D or 3D in the 'traditional' way. Which, most known games tend to go with so at first it was really confusing to look for other stuff... I'm new to this (coming with knowledge from the illustrative and design side, less developer side) but I really think it's the solution I've been looking for as far as giving life to the look of my game goes. If you could send me any it would be amazing~
Sorry for the late reply! I didn't use a particular Unity tutorial to make this style of game or to transition from 2D to 3D. I followed a ton of different "learning Unity" tutorials when I first started and then just youtube and google when I needed to learn a new thing I didn't know haha
i would never play a game that looked like the original version. it just looked bland, uninteresting, and generic. but the 2.5d looks fucking amazing and if i saw something that looked like that in the steam store i would buy it without hesitating. great change.
I really like the style but i think i would’nt play this Game in 3D, mainly because i don’t like the first person view. Also now the pixel art style looks a lot like minecraft, what makes me want to destroy the blocks. I tried to give you a sincere feedback, please keep going i would love to try this Game one day
I love the change. The creatures have so much life and it makes the game stand out. Great work.

The art looks so beautiful that I wouldn't mind a video of the character exploring around with that soft background music. It's so relaxing.
This is superb! I know only of a few pixel art games with billboarding, but they all look wonderful. There is something about mixing pixel art and 3D that just appeals to me.
Keep up the good work, and have fun!
Wow, that looks fantastic, incredible work!

Minecraft? 😂 Great vídeo bro 👍🏽

This is just so wow!! Such a cool style
Oh, I loved that! Great change you have done but for the better! I am very excited about it!!!!

This really inspires me, great job!
Omg i love the art style
Wow this looks amazing!!! What a change
Wow this is beautiful
This looks fantastic.
I think it looks so cool. For me way better than the top down view, there are toon of top down view games, and not that much with mix of 3D and 2D assets.
Love it! Planning on making a game of my own I love seeing what other people are doing

That is awesome! Please show how you created the 3D Scenario. Did you use ProBuilder?
This looks amazing!
Looks amazing!
Looks great!
this is beautiful
Beautiful, hope this project is still alive.

It looks really cool and makes it stand out. The previous 2D style was nice too, but a bit generic. I wish you the best of luck!

It really good game. I really love this aproch and I was also trying to make this types of worlds. It truly inspiring for me to see this video .
Wow, that looks cool. Try make every sprite as a 2d in a 3d world (pixel-styled)
I really wanna download and play this
I Dig The New Style!! Makes the Game Feel More Alive!! Like 👍🏻 The Verticality As Well!! Cool 😎 Forest 🌳 And Like 👍🏻 The Monsters Roaming Around Too!! Good 👍🏻 Update.
keep up the grate work love it.
Looks good. The camera is a bit close to the player though. Also Doom was entirely in 2D there was no 3D tech in there.
Very true! I always associate the look of this style with Doom but you're right!
it looks so good in 3d
Beautiful looking! Might be a little motion-sickness inducing though haha..
Can you please, please, do a tutorial on how to setup a 2.5d scene and player?
I've been getting a lot of comments about this lately 😅 if I can find the time, I'll try to throw together a tutorial
Im very late here but would love a tutorial of billboarding sprites. Im newer to unity and would greatly apreciate the help!
this is so cool
Could you please do a tutorial on your workflow to make 3d sprites with pixel art textures?
interesting change. keep going
I really love this game it looks cute! I do wondering how do we fix motion sickness in game like this… i was working on my hd2d game, so far only have camera follow the character, but I feel gross after a couple minutes which slowing down my progress a lot😵
At first I thought this is another Archvale/Dalphin clone but the 3D environment ... ah man das gut sh**t
Great and amazing content just curious as for billboarding is it possible to make the image change as you look at a different angle using the main camera?

Thank you so much ^^
Make the trees and rocks like the grass, not 3d
where can i learn to make this?
do you have any videos on how you actually made this?
Does anyone know the background music he used?
Hey, you know this type game name is?
I like this game style
How did you get pixel art textures on 3D stuff? I'm coming from 2D development and would love to know more about textures and how you make levels.
I want to make startropics but super fx chip
Even though I disagree with everything you said about 3D being more immersive than 2D, I still like this change.
please increse the volumen of your voice, your game looks pretty cute with that 3d/2d fusion
I like the 2D way more
Tutorial?
Tutorial please.
Will buy
Pliss making video tutorial
Wow really amazing i hope the game can be play in mobile
Too bad your sprites don't have 8 angle of rotation
