@@cwtek1 Hi do.. It worked when you click the test button, but none of the three settings work if you turn TV OFF (I used 1 minute) and back On!!

New (purchased 2024.04.30) FireTV 4K stick; I've got everything configured as you outline, but while the TEST button does what's intended, every time I turn on the TV, it just goes to the Amazon home screen and stays there. Any workarounds...?

This is a GREAT video... glad you really went step by step... What if all the installed apps aren't showing up?
Make sure that when you installed the app you allowed access to your files if it asked.

Thanks very much. You'd think the app itself would say that 'launch on boot' enabled doesn't work on fire tv and that only the other option does.
Your welcome, I think the app was designed for several android based devices I think its just a fluke that it works at all on the firestick (with limited options)

Hi, I followed your directions and it worked great. The next day I plugged in the fire stick and got stuck in a boot loop that continued on for half an hour. It just now as I'm typing this stopped long enough for me to delete the start on boot app. So I restarted it again to see if that fixed it. It's in a boot loop again. I'm not sure if start on boot caused this or not but it's weird timing.
I have not heard of any other reports of this app causing a boot loop, I think there may be a fault with your Firestick.
@@cwtek1 After I deleted the app it kept doing it for a while but it eventually stopped. I think it's just a coincidence. I haven't tried it again yet. I travel with it a lot. I'm thinking about getting a Roku stick, I'm getting tired of Amazon's hogwash. Thanks for your videos, they are helpful and you get to the point quickly.

@@cwtek1 dont worry, I found one, we can set Downloader as the auto start app and use that as a browser 👍

I tested and it works if „launch when device wakes up“ is enabled…. Unfortunately I can‘t select the Internet Browser app ..some apps are not listed….

for anyone following this today don’t forget to enable developer options (by clicking settings>about>select button 7 times) for the downloader app to work

what I would like to do is STOP a few apps from loading into memory on every firestick Restart, namely Plex and VLC. Is there a way to do this with an app or a way to edit the 'etc/init' file that may be there? Thanks

I want to launch the Silk Browser on startup but it's not listed in the apps! Any idea how to do this?
I am afraid not all apps will allow you to auto boot.

The instructions are great! However, it only worked the first time on my TV (auto-launch Hulu). Thereafter, it times out attempting to launch Hulu and returns an error indicating it cannot access Hulu, There is a "Done" and "Reload" option. When I click Reload, Hulu finally launches. I have tried multiple restarts of my TV and Hulu does not auto launch (using a Fire TV Cube).
It is so weird. In August, I bought a Fire Stick. It worked like a charm. Yesterday I obtained another Stick..Auto Boot on Launch doesn't work anymore - checked in the Info..Same Fire OS Version - everything identical besides the serial number. Unfortunately, the new stick did an auto-update on installation.
I guess the update had blocked it!

This app doesn't shows my sideloaded apps in the 'select app' list. Any solution? I am using firestick 2nd gen running on fireos5.

The last video I did got removed by YT, I am considering doing another but am trying to avoid potential problems, you can get downloader from the App Store, just go to the magnify glass and search for downloader from the main home screen. I am not sure if this app works with the Fire TV I 'm afriad!

Very nice app AND tutorial! Thanks! BUT... I found that when I unplugged the TV (Insignia Fire TV) the setting seems to have gone away and the unit just booted to the default home screen! Is this expected? I installed it in a neighbor's house so didn't have a chance dig around, but maybe the Enable gets turned off again or something? Or do I have to reinstall everything (starting with Downloader) when I unplug/move the TV? Thanks!
I think the app was designed for the firestick rather than the Fire TV. This might be the reason it gets turned off.

Hi, I'm wondering if there is a way to configure that when you turn on the TV, the firestick automatically searches for a TV channel on RUclips that always broadcasts live. Since my 85-year-old mother uses it and the idea is that when she turns on she can see her channel without having to go manually. Thank you!

I could not get this to work with my direct tv app on a 4k fire stick or with any app
I have a Firestick 4k Max and I want Hulu to default. However, I'm frustrated that it will not bringup HULU. Yes, I have followed the instructions several times. It does work with other apps. Why not HULU?
Hi, does this APK work on a firetsick 4k max? i'm sure i tried it before and nothing happens. My older 2nd Gen firesticks work fine with the apk.
Update, I have installed it again on my 4k max, and it does not boot my app of choice. i tried "sm@ruben3xt" and the rumble app.
I noticed my VPN would need to be reconnected upon reboot. As a precaution this auto launch reminds me to connect the VPN.

The app that I want to run takes about a minute before it starts so it’s easier just to run it manually

An alternative ... App Opener enables you to open a selected App anytime with a voice command.

Silk Browsers icon simply says Internet.

Trying to get this to autoboot into the Yodeck digital signage app on boot, but the app does not show in the menu?? There are very few app choices that can be made....
Unfortunately it appears not all apps can be autobooted!

Did you know how can I fix it the red ring on remote control jumping up & down?
Have you used a tool to speed up animation on the device? if so then you need to undo these changes and put animation back to its default setting.

Hi Chris, I installed this on my Firestick and it worked when I tested it, however once I turned off my TV and turned it back on it didn't work. Just went to the profile screen and never auto booted up to RUclips TV. Do you have any suggestions on why this is not working for me?
I am not sure please try removing the App and Reinstalling then set it up again.
If you turn your TV off and write back on, the fire stick is still active. Try unplugging the power to put it to sleep then try the reboot.
I keep getting a message that I can not download or install from this site but can not find settings to allow me to install the app

i had the problem that my firestick wouldn't let me download it from downloader, because it was not "safe". but if you go into developer mode then you can bypass that message.
Is there a way where when you press the power button on the fire tv instead of it going into sleep it completely shuts down
Not that I know of apart from unplugging from the mains but I would recommend putting the stick to sleep before unplugging from the mains.

I followed the instructions but it went directly to the prompt to delete the apk file and it never gave me a prompt to install launch on boot. Not sure if I did something wrong?
Please try restarting your firestick and try installing again.

I have an issue with this. I tried it and it works, but I've later decided to disable and uninstall it. However, it will keeps opening the app on start up! Any ideas?
Please try reinstalling this then remove the app that’s booting up from the configuration then uninstall the app.
Sorry but this didn't work. I even resorted to factory resetting the firestick and declining to port past apps/settings. It still opens the app! I'm so confused.

Just tried this on Insignia Fire TV and seems it does not work. Will try on other TV's with actual fire sticks.

Unfortunately there is quite a few apps that no longer work on these new generation sticks due to file permissions, I hope Amazon sort this out soon!

When i select "Select App" A list of apps appears, but i cannot find the app that i wanted to add. but the app is definitely installed. what am i doing wrong?

Just checked and its still in the App store on my Firestick, just go to the Magnify Glass then Search and search for Firefox, it should appear under Apps & Games.
Not working.. It works after a manual reboot, but hasn’t worked since. The test works. Guess i will search for alternative option.

I downloaded downloader, followed the directions, typed in code 310962 and it came back with an error. Any suggestions?
I just tried the code and it works fine here, Please make sure you allowed downloader to have access to your Files, etc when you first install it.
@@cwtek1 Thank you for the tip, I reinstalled the Douwnloader app and gave it the permissions you suggested. That worked and the program began to download. When it went to installation, an error message came back "For your security your TV is not allowed to install unknown apps from this source".
I think I am done.
@@dgood8704 You need to make sure you have allowed Download to install apps from unknown sources, you usually can find this in settings, my fire TV then developer options.

How do I let downloader install apps from unknown sources?
You need to go to developer options and allow apps from unknown sources or turn on apps from unknown sources for downloader.

Go into my fire tv then settings My Fire Tv , developer options, install unknown apps, make sure the program you are downloading with is set to on.

Is your stick an older gen 2 or firestick lite, these are often slow compared to the 4K and 4K Max!

Rubbish. I've an app called reolink which shows my Reolink camera which I want to auto start but it does not appear on the apps list when in the Select App list!! It's the only one that doesn't and it's the one I want!!!
Unfortunately if it doesn’t appear then you won’t be able to auto start it I’m afraid.
