I know people think Nothing's products are gimmicks but at least they are TRYING to do something different from everyone else. The modular aspect of their budget CMF products is genius. Honestly would love to see modular phones become more of a mainstream thing. I just wish nothing would offer smaller screen options though.
tbh, there is not much really "modular" about this phone (except for the backplate) and in return you lose a decent waterproof rating. also, no nfc and -apparently still- no possibility to change the ringtone for each simcard independently. the modularity, btw, is also not a new concept (it usually fails) but it's a great way for nothing to present a secondary brand ofcourse. it's definitely a decent phone, but let's not say that they are doing something amazing... and the little things like i mentioned are very weird things to not have, even when considering the pricepoint.
Im sure The gimmick is for marketing and get people talking. The software in this phone works so well with the chipset. Without doubt this cmf phone gives great user experience at 1/5 the price of flagships. Of course there will be compromises at this price. For instance Camera is just like a whatever you paid for
People have criticised this for lacking a user-removable battery, especially since the back is removable, and I too think it is such a missed opportunity, BUT if you look at the bigger picture: this is a phone which is stupid easy to open up compared to all other phones today, and moreover they were gracious enough to use some great battery pull-tabs to make battery replacement easy and safe. Yes, the battery isn't user-removable but it's better than being glued down; yes, the back is user-removable and yet the battery isn't, but it's better that that back be removable than not! People should try to look on the bright side. It could have been better, but it could have been as bad as every other phone!
The thing about this phone is that it's perfect for me. The things that it's missing, I don't use. I only use bluetooth headphones. I rarely ever take pictures. I don't use nfc. That means that the drawbacks of the phone don't even apply to me. So I get a phone that has better performance than my current one, bigger battery, customizability, and the potential to have one of the coolest modding scenes I've ever seen on a phone. And I get all that for only $200.
This CMF Phone 1 review makes it look amazing! The Dimensity 7300 sounds perfect for everyday tasks, and the customizable back panels are a nice touch.
The Nothing CMF Phone 1 is a great example of how Mediatek chipsets can deliver flagship-level performance at a fraction of the cost. Kudos to Nothing for making it happen!
Under certain circumstances the display will reach around 2000 nits . But auto peak brightness is generally around 1200 nits. Manual brightness using the slider reaches around 700 nits, which is above average for a phone especially at this price point
@@marksouthwell2699 but what “certain circumstances” we are talking about? I didn’t found any reputable sources that could actually prove that. 1200 is still good so why would they mislead people? Side note. I was seriously considering buying it just to run it on my bike with RaceChrono app.
@@GLGL520 🤣 why you mad bro? Why randomly iPhone 16? Dunno about 16 but if I’m not mistaken only 15 pro goes for roughly 1700 nits but that’s not even remotely same price bracket and capabilities. Just saying 🤷♂️
@@marksouthwell2699 my last reply was deleted 😂 So this time I’m gonna make it simple. 2000 nits? Prove it. I just prefer claims being more less accurate. Nothing more nothing less.
No one, I mean no one, will be able to convince me that this thing is a better deal than an S21 Plus / S22 Plus (2nd hand) or Pixel 7 in North America, or a Poco F3 in the rest of the world 🌏 🚶🏽♂️ 🚶🏽♂️ 🚶🏽♂️
Easily repairable? With a non-removable battery, protected by "warranty void" stickers? Sorry, I don't think so. It LOOKS repairable. It's a cool phone, cool design. But repairability is not what they had in mind with this phone.
@@tombreproduction9519 I just wanted the phone. All the marketing has the accessories coming with the phone. If you set expectations through marketing don't expect people to not call it out.
How and why did people have complimented you for wearing a smartphone with the rope?! Man they just didn't want you to feel bad that's why they said you look good or stylish 😅. You got their sympathy and took it for compliment 😂
No changeble battery, no nfc, no charger..🥲..no buy. And 2mpx camera for nothing. Before Carl was making fun of it and now he applies it in his product.😅

I want a replaceable battery smartphone like good old days. But cmf just missed the chance.
only idiots think that bro. Nothing is doing everything better than every other company
Search jelly max with the same processor and small screen

What i like about android phone is whatever camera setup thrown by manufacturers i can always download gcam and get the best the setup can offer.

Another great review that gets me excited about non-Apple devices. Thanks again!

This is the greatest video from all cmf phone 1 reviews, thank you for such a pleasing experience

Amazing video presentation, the color vibrant is intense and great, i like it.

Man I hope I can order one of these soon Amazon says unavailable
CMF Phone 1 with Dimensity 7300 sounds like a great mid-range option. Is the camera quality decent for the price?
It ain't modular, it's simply customisable
I would change the intro voiceover from "you can even expand the memory" to "can even expand the storage"
OIS goes a long way, especially for those of us that take a lot of images. But it's a great price for a nice phone from the sound of it.
True, i shoot videos solely on my phone and that OIS+EIS for handheld is very handy since i hate using gimbals lol
Awesome review ❤
What's modular about this?
The accessories, but with the ecosystem being new, there's not too much going on. Hopefully that changes.
crazy its hard to get in the us for me, out of stock everywhere or above base price to buy.
Don't buy the higher end model. A 128GB SD card do not cost 30€. You can get 512gb SD cards for 40€. With 128+512gb, you have more than enough.
Max brightness is more 1200 than 2000.
And battery is maybe “easily accessible” but you lose your warranty if you change it 😭

Buy an iphone 16 instead, you wouldn't complain due to how much you've paid

Yeah but you will change the battery after it degrades right? So before 2 years passes you will not do it anyway...
oh no, not a sticker 🤣🤣🤣
you only get the phone for 200. You don't get any accessories. Just got mine. Its been great but no accessories
I mean.. what do you expect?
where did you buy it
Expectations were wrong on your side. 200 for a good phone, what you want more for that?
