That was an awesome take on the song. I have watched so many of them and only a few of them has made me learn a thing or two. Yours is amongst those videos that I truly enjoyed watching on my favourite song, Ye Dunya. The lead vocal with that scream that lasted for 13 s straight is Sherry Khattak and he’s the member of the great metal band, Karakoram. U should watch their other songs especially Kyun, Awaaz, Fanaa, Rasta, and Dil Fatah Karein..
Sherry and the band mates formed their band after working with Coke Studio season 14’s producer, Xulfi in Nescafé Basement. Xulfi discovered them as underground artists back in the day and they all worked together on 5 fabulous seasons of Nescafé Basement. Then Xulfi brought them over to this years Coke Studio. U will notice that the same drummer (one with curly hair) has worked on drums in many of the other artists’ songs in Coke Studio this year and well Sherry Was the part of the audio team behind all Coke Studio songs as well. His command on electric guitar is unreal.
The first rapper is Talha Anjum - part of Young Stunners. There is another member of that group who didn’t feature here. His name is Talha Younus. Their command on Urdu poetry is impeccable especially that of Talha Anjum and I like that they don’t resort to swearing or abuses to churn out their rhymes. Btw, you will see Young Stunners back in season 14’s last song, Phir Milenge along with our legendary singer from Strings group, Faisal Kapadia. If you recall a Bollywood song called Ye Hai Meri Kahaani with Sunjay Dutt many years ago, that song was composed and sung by Strings as well. Faisal sung the song and Band mate Bilal Masood made us crazy with the guitars there.
Faris Shafi, the 2nd rapper, is actually very choosy in what he does but he’s a gifted rapper as well - esp in mixing English with Urdu language. He’s quite gifted. U will see him in another song, Muaziz Saarif… with his sister there (Meesha Shafi). They are children of one of Pakistani dramas talented and seasoned actress, Saba Hameed.
Now the producer of this awesome season is an awesome man, Xulfi. Have u heard the song Laree Chootee?? That’s one of my favourite songs and actually, Xulfi composed and sang that song. He was part of Fawad Khan’s band Entity Paradigm back in the day and then became part of the band Call.
