More Cambodian Immigrants In America Getting Deported Under The Trump Administration

- They had already served time for their crimes. Now with Donald Trump as president, these US permanent residents of Cambodian origin are getting deported, leaving behind loved ones and barred from the country they call home.

Under the Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act enacted by ex-President Bill Clinton in 1996, any legal immigrant in the United States who has committed a crime can be deported back to their home countries.
More recently, the number of deportations of Cambodians surged due to Trump's aggressive anti-immigrant policies.
What happens when these immigrants get removed from their families to live in a country they hardly know?

My god the media is corrupt. Non-stop pro-"minority" propaganda. The MSM is determined to destroy this country by turning it into a third world hellhole. Not a word from them about the rampant crime wave that follows blacks and Muslims everywhere. Not a word about the trillions of dollars in real estate destroyed by "people of color." Not a word about the inefficiency of businesses who are forced to hire lazy, inept "minorities" to satisfy quotas. Just endless bleeding heart stories designed to inflame the public and make them think we're "bad" if we don't hand over our country, our money and our jobs to the enemy. SICK!
@@hillarybarrie7548 I'm glad to see there's still some sane people out there. Especially a woman. Here in CA that's very rare.
@@hillarybarrie7548 My God. What's wrong with this comments section? I can understand if we're deporting criminals for things like robbery, assault, money laundering, and other serious crimes. But what kind of conscientious human being wants to exile someone like Sothy (the first man) who was charged with nothing more than intent to distribute marijuana, a relatively harmless substance that's already legal in some states anyway?
So what if he's technically a criminal? Should we go after the 57 million Americans who illegally download music? That's technically a crime worth millions of dollars.
Sothy committed a relatively trivial crime and paid his dues. He's a LEGAL immigrant who pays his taxes. He's a changed family man. I have to question the humanity of anyone so eager to separate a man from his wife and baby for something so insignificant as marijuana possession.
@@jcdenton1635 - Certain ethnic groups are not suited to civilization. They should return to their native land where they can enact their "way of life" and not disrupt ours doing it.

Yes indeed. So mind blowing dumb ignorance. His parents stuffed up & so too he, when he reached adulthood. hmmm 🤔👀🙄😐☹️👎.
I’m not sure if you seen other documentaries that came out. You know how many Cambodians applied for citizenship then got deported in the process? Of course not you’re ready to judge and try to use yourself as an example. You did nothing special buddy
@@khmer5591 Before 1989, Green Card doesn’t have expiration date and the stamped on the Green Card says “Permanent Resident.” In 1996 Congress passed the IIRIRA Act and signed by President Clinton which in plain English reversed the word “permanent” to “Temporary.” I, like most Cambodians never ever thought in a million years that the US would expelled or repatriated us back to Cambodia. The only thing that set me apart is I wanted a job and that job required that I’d be a citizens of the US. With that being said, those who judged these deportees haven’t got the slightest ideas what they went through. These kids are a products of an Americans. As sad as their situation is, it’s heartening to see that Sothy and Lisa decided to make the best of this and restart in Cambodia. I’m sure with their skill set, they will do well in Cambodia. Good luck!

I’m Cambodian and it makes me sad to see my people get deported. Throughout this video, the one thing that makes me happy is to see that sothy and his wife were reunited. That’s true love, she left her life here to be with him. God bless you all.
These were nonviolent offenses and neither deportee is a repeat offender. What ever happened to forgiveness and redemption? If these were Europeans getting deported, the callous hypocrites in the comments would be treating them with more compassion.
Very true. People are quick to judge by their skin color. I also don’t know why they keep saying they are illegal. America granted them legal residence. It just so happens the government of Cambodia and America made a deal regarding these “criminals” to deport them. Other Asian countries like Laos and Vietnam do not have the same deal. A lot of the comments here are uneducated and racist.
Now that's true love. God bless them both.

I don't get it! He is a criminal, what's wrong with deporting criminals? Why take your American Residency for granted? Why not work hard and not commit crimes.
gun possession and ATTEMPT to sell marijuana are crimes that are so common, that probably your best friend does it and you wouldn't know about it; if every criminal as such is deported, then a large part of the population would be gone.

Tau S Because it is a double punishment. Non-immigrant criminals get to stay in America and immigrants get deported. It comes down to government to government agreement to accept and deport “criminals” that already served their time. Not all countries accept their own people back FYI. You may not know the many people who are criminals not native to America are still roaming your local streets. Seems like people here are quick to shame others when it happens.

What a shame of American government deportation Cambodian refugees back to Cambodai.
As a human being, always set yourself a high level of character. If you do not, one day you have to pay for it. So blame yourself and accept it.
I saw a bunch of these videos when Obama was President so I don't know why Trump was named in this video. Don't commit crimes and you'll be fine
Before Donald Trump became US President there were Immigration policies or rules that already exist. Those Legal Permanent Residentsshould abide the law because if you commit crime you will be deported and whom are you going to blame. We should be grateful that US opens the door for immigrants so abide the US law.
They won’t give to you if you’re a criminal person and they also took away your green card and don’t try to apply you will wasting your time and your money.
Are comments to be disabled?
I am feeling sad for him.
But He shouldn't have done felonies if he loves his family .
People are so quick to judge about the man living in the US for 37 years and yet failed to get his citizenship. Did they also know that Trump even deported a Native American woman to Columbia? She was 25 years old and were deported. Also there was a captain of police department that were detained and deported he was an American citizen. Trump and his goons didn’t care. He and his family should be deported back to his mother land of Germany. Oh wait I forgot, his motherlands kicked his grandfather out because like Donald Trump, his grandfather ran away during the First World War came to America made a fortune and tries to go back to Germany and began bribing German government officials and caught as well and was deported back to the US. Donny learned quite well from his grandfather. A draft dodger. I went through similar situation with this man here. You can say I committed a crime, but what crime did I really commit? Here is one example, a white teenage boy rode his bike and slammed into my parked car. When I saw what happened I yelled for him to stop because he broke my left side rear view mirror, but he kept running so I took off and followed him with my car. I caught up to him and he said follow him to his house so that his parents can pay for the damages. When I got to his house, there six police officers waiting for me and arrested me. They took me into custody for threatening to harm a teenager. I showed the officers damages that boy did to my car. The officers asked me why I was going to do with the baseball bat inside the trunk of my vehicle if I didn’t planned on harming the kid. I was charged for possession of a deadly weapon and threatening the teenager. I was released from jail after one week than the immigration picked me up and I was arrested and sent to immigration holding for 1 year. Even when I told the immigration officers that I’m a naturalized citizen. Where is justice? My vehicle was damaged and I was sent to jail. They never paid for the damages.
@@SirFoodie1904 The goon is the person who commit crime. What you experience is yours, it doesn't mean the others don't deserve to be deported. Trump is 1000x better than demented Biden. As much as he tried, Trump still didn't deport as much as Obama did.

Deportation should be illegal. Separating anyone from their family is inhuman. If they served time, they reformed, they deserve a second chance. Cambodia accepting deportation is at fault.
