@TTastic-pb5nt I mean, he did go on a mission with him to capture the Joker (until he trusted the Joker like an idiot and paid for it by taking a bullet to the stomach and ear, glad they changed that from the manga) so yeah, pretty much.
Yahya’s question about whether a melon is a fruit or a vegetable is a weird one. A tomato would have been more fitting - botanically a fruit, culinarily a vegetable. But then I imagine Melon being named Tomato instead and that just makes me giggle. 🤭
I would day “melon” is quite an ambiguous term though, despite people associating melon with a sweet fruit like cantaloupe, melon could refer to other Things such as winter melon, which is typically used in soups that would otherwise be considered a vegetable. I feel like these are one of the things that dont land as well in the english dub.
You're thinking about it from a Western perspective. In Japan, melons are traditionally considered vegetables (even though they're botanically a fruit).
Yahya has problems, using the grandson of your ex-partner who is still technically a teenager(he may be 1/4 Komodo dragon, but Legoshi is mostly gray wolf so he should have been prepared as an officer in case Melon has weapons, knives, guns. Legoshi can't duck every bullet, see the ending of part 1 of this season for proof)
Yahya is very complex, when I was reading the manga I really didn't like his character, he just seemed too cruel - but I liked him more as I got to know him.
@@raipe125 If that was the case plenty of people in today's world would be in the dirt from politicians to criminals as it would be there only productive contribution to society.

Not every mixed race child is going to be the Joker. Yahya is basically assuming that any mixed race kid has the potential to just be a problem like melon and it's just using that to scare Legoshi
Fruits are the flowering part of a plant, usually with seeds; vegetables are the edible parts, its stem, leaves, and so forth. So while technically all fruits are vegetables, not all vegetables are fruits. Melon’s schtick is he’s neither and both, so the melon analogy is only half the puzzle. Thus, Yahya approaching Legoshi is him finding the other half.
The melon analogy is used because melons are traditionally considered vegetables instead of fruit in Japan (even though they know that they're fruit, botanically speaking). It's sort of like how tomatoes get treated (and even taxed) like vegetables in the West.

A fruit generally has seeds in it. If it doesn't have seeds in it, it is a seedless fruit grown from a seed that was from a fruit that has them. A few examples would be watermelons, peppers, pickles, etc.
Well, that's quite a change. I like his deal in the manga better, where he'll allow Legoshi to marry Haru if he catches Melon rather than tempting him with money first. Edit: I suppose that deal will be made later.
Though I do understand what he is trying to say, fruits don’t necessarily have to come from trees, they’re just the ripped ovarys of flowing plants that contain its seeds. They don’t even have to be sweet or sour, so things like cucumbers, tomato’s, Squash, and peppers are all fruits. So a melon is just a fruit.

Its odd to bring the seriousness of a leg injury to a horse, which is quadroped. Yahya is a biped, which would mean he would have more of a human skeletal structure?
Maybe a musculoskeletal thing? IIRC broken femurs were way more likely to be fatal (in humans) before we figured out a good method of splinting them, because our thigh muscles are so strong, the spasming will pull the broken pieces of bone into each other, causing further damage. Maybe Yahya would have similar issues with a leg injury, because he's so strong.
