I like his Japanese and English VAs, the design is 50/50. It does make him look more like an herbivore but I miss his sharper eyes and fuzz on his face. I do hope his body continuously gets larger in the anime like it did in the manga
@@lillardlover it’s a shame because Paru has great ideas for the Beastars world and we see that in Beast Complex. I hope they improve on the ending too.
I saw this scene coming from the manga, but it feels more "natural" and violent here, which is on-brand for how Melon is supposed to be. Also really felt the impact of the last bit upon watching Episode 9 for the first time. It was a solid "look how they massacred my boy" to see Legoshi dropped TWICE. The literal drop also didn't happen in the manga, if I recall.
Smart psychopaths are always fun though. I kinda wish Beast stars was darker. Such an interesting world honestly.. and the fact we’re thrust into it. Kind of seeing it differently than what most other shows would protray.
That’s why I wanted mark hamil to voice him, i know he doesn’t want to do it because Kevin konroy rip, but he could’ve just balanced it with his skywalker voice to sound normal. But the guy who voiced him did good too, fun fact: his voice is the same as St. Peter’s voice from hazbin hotel
He’s sideswipe from the robots in disguise series, Raphael from tmnt vs Batman, Superman from several recent projects, and also St. Peter from hazbin hotel.
"No way! You're parents were freaky!" Melon sounds WAY too happy here. It's creepy, which I guesd is the point, but still. EDIT: "I think you're beautiful!" Legoshi, don't hit on the murderer please (yes, I know he isn't really hitting on him).
I know, dumb wolf, but Melon is literally what he wants for his future, species wise. He wants to know more if his child will end up like melon, plus he’s mixed and Melon clearly has charisma that lures people in. Like with the elephants he killed in the manga
I feel like melon not being handcuffed takes away from the purpose of the scene a little bit. The only reason he talked to legoshi so much in the manga was because he was trying to get Legoshi comfortable, so he could con his way out of the cuffs. And the only reason why his arrest was so "underwhelming" was because thats exactly what Melon is trying to portray himself as. Just a harmless gazelle, calm, collected, reserved, hes only a outwardly crazy like this when in private, because the harmless herbivore front he puts up helps him get away with everything hes done. This scene is pretty much pointless now, and shooting Legoshi feels kinda pointless too. I really liked this show, but this was so meh.
I'm not gonna lie the moment Yahya started pointing out all the guests with horns, I figured melon was the one sitting at the bar. How did I come to that conclusion? Simple really...he was the only one that wasn't looking or touching ass. Call it a lucky guess? Sure. That said how will this all end for him? It will with him going to prison given that at this point in the story Louis is already investigating in Kines; and is about to discover that his old lion crew and their new boss Melon are the ones distributing it. In other words he thinks he's smart; but if a cop, a half breed wolf, and a deer can figure out he's the distributor of KINES then what the Shishigumi said is true about him being horrible. Only he is not only a piece of shit but also rather sloppy at covering his tracks. Infact I've seen a few anime villains, who've done much better jobs at covering their tracks than this guy.
I think Melon is only getting sloppy now because he’s aware his leopard genes are starting to show. He used to be able to hide it really well, but like Leano, previously dormant traits are surfacing, and it wouldn’t be long before he’s completely disgraced by society. At that point, he was more interested in indulging in the only craving he had, murder.
As someone who read the manga I have to wonder. Did they make Melon even more psychotic? Because the whole thing with merda is that it's more potent of a craving starter for carnivores, was he just trying to cause a mass slaughter for shits and giggles or was the fact the carnivores were drunk a means to dull the effects a bit?
I feel a bit divided on Melon's more exaggerated mannerisms in the anime. In the manga he was also a bit flamboyant but in a way more composed and predatory, I feel.
"What do you want?"
"To arrest you..." Legoshi clearly didn't plan this far lol
I facepalmed at that part. Legosi fucked up the plan so badly 💀
@@lillardloverhe’s so stupid 😭
They cooked with Melon’s voice and design. I’m glad they improved on the manga’s final arc in the anime.

I really hope they improve the ending. The manga's ending was 100% ass and felt rushed.

I liked this scene more than in the manga, Legoshi was less dumb since he didn't need to take his handcuffs, and Melon looks more psycho here
Melon reminds me so much of Ted Bundy. He's witty, calculating, charming, and intelligent, and yet, can barely contain his violent tendencies.
Smart psychopaths are always fun though. I kinda wish Beast stars was darker. Such an interesting world honestly.. and the fact we’re thrust into it. Kind of seeing it differently than what most other shows would protray.
If I remember correctly, he even gets sent fanmail when he’s in jail like ted bundy did! Sick but realistic detail
So Melon...is pretty much the joker of beastars
he's way worse in the manga , also the way he shoot legoshi (manga) is like how joker shot barbara gordon

Melon is a first-class psychopath. He would be perfect for The Devil's Rejects.
He's like Joker
As the English voice of Melon, Darren Criss inhabits the character perfectly.
I'm sorry, Harry Freakn Potter voices him?! That is so cool

I got that too yeah. He was calm and calculated, to uphold his "innocent herbivore" act. Sure he was crazy, but he was smart, too.
Can't he just take off his mask normally?
He could’ve but he’s extra. Also I loved how fleshy it sounded

Why did it make that weird fleshy sound. It really churned my stomach
