This song's heavy use of piano kinda reminds me of Circus Reverie from Seihou, which is ironic, seeing as Marie is a sadistic lesbian, while Hisami is a masochistic lesbian. Even their designs have some slight similarities, though I think it's more likely coincidental than intentional on ZUN's part. Anyway, I think it's genuinely hilarious exactly how she lures people into hell, and how she's incompetent on purpose solely because she wants Zanmu to punish her. Her begging Zanmu to step on her was especially funny.
I always thought that this song sounded menacing and terrifying, like your being chased by someone and eventually being dragged into your death no matter how hard you go and how hard you try and escape, a tiny sliver of hope but its all gone, am I looking into this too much?
I just realized that the three servants of the beast leaders are conflated to various non-Japanese creatures: Son Biten was convinced she's Sun Wukong incarnate. Enoko is hyped up to be Saki's very own Cerberus. Chiyari is often mistaken to be a chupacabra. ...maybe Hisami can be conflated to a Maenad?
@@plungerknife She is, what the original commenter was saying that Hisami could also have parallels to non-Japanese creatures despite being one herself, the same way Chiyari is a tenkajin mistaken for a chupacabra, Hisami would be a yomotsu-shikome with maenad theming, for example.

Not sure why but this theme makes so emotional. I sense the maturity in it, but at the same time it's beautiful(?) enough to affect my mood overall. I don't understand...
@@Garzaromera I mean, "Yomi" is literally the land of death, and looking at Hisami, it just implies that a living person is being chased to Yomi, with no turn back, because eventually they won't scape. Probably it could also just mean someone passing away, or bringing themselve... "to Yomi", if you get what I mean. There's no turn back, you arrive and you can't gl anywhere else, which is probably why this theme is so melancholic but still pretty emotional.
In Japanese Shinto mythology, "Yomi" or "Yomi-no-kuni" is known as the land of the dead or "world of darkness." Kinda cool because the most recently I have heard of "Yomi" is in the pretty recent action game called "Trek to Yomi". Pretty cool!
