This video is very helpful. I seem to have a rough idle/loss of lower/stalling at low rpm. I’ve changed the MAF sensor with one from a different Subaru, and I still had the same issues. So this is my next plan of attack, thank you!!
Thanks for uploads. Fellow Mainer Subaru owner here. And I agree with someone else who commented, some gloves would be of benefit to protect your hands.
thx for the video.. I thought I was gonna need absolutely some clamp plier.. but it seem no liquid coming out of these 2 lines on the throttle body according to your video
if it turns out you need to replace the tps on these, is it correct that you will have to buy a whole new throttle body ? pretty sure i heard it mentioned that its a one piece setup somewhere else online ?
NO. The Throttle Position Censor (TPS) is available as a replacement from from most Auto Parts Stores and Online Parts Vendors. If you mean the Throttle Actuator Motor, It's a good question. I haven't been able to reliably source that component as of yet...
@@maineiacnorth1243 this is the throttle body with the tps attached that is for my outback, i dnt think the sensor van be brought separately ? happy to be corrected if im wrong because it would obviously save me $$$ i dont have right now ;) www.ebay.com/itm/For-Impreza-Legacy-outback-2-5L-TH80-16112-AA010-Throttle-Body-Assembly/113500064790?_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D225073%26meid%3D738240a2c3ee4404b5cf8f48273f52ca%26pid%3D100675%26rk%3D5%26rkt%3D15%26mehot%3Dlo%26sd%3D141609921522%26itm%3D113500064790%26pmt%3D1%26noa%3D1%26pg%3D2380057%26brand%3DUnbranded&_trksid=p2380057.c100675.m4236&_trkparms=pageci%3A874c0895-2407-11eb-a660-f6e84e10726e%7Cparentrq%3Ab6d2389c1750a6e5bf7f118cfffc5c7a%7Ciid%3A1

@@maineiacnorth1243 yes, although im based in australia and trying to source parts localy for both the convenience and to save $ on shipping costs, that being said though finding parts here are usually harder due to population size and also more expensive unfortunately. i was lead to beleive that the tps was not detachable from the throttle bodys on the 2008 model outback, but im still trying to verify that ? i would prefer just to actually buy the tps alone if possible because there is nothing actually wrong with the throttle body apart from just needing a clean perhaps
@@monogramadikt5971 From the land down under, nice. I revisited the subject and even re-watched my video, as I don't work on Subaru every day and was shooting from the hip with my analysis, presuming other than being an 08', you have similar specs to the car in the video... 1) The "smaller" Sensor I was alluding too in the video is a replaceable : Manifold Absolute Pressure Sensor, Along with the Throttle Actuator in question. Although older Non-Drive by Wire Throttles Bodies do use a replaceable TPS. I confused myself, my bad. 2) As I mentioned earlier, whether or not there is a "Sensor" within the Throttle Body Actuator itself (Not 100% sure, as I haven't taken one apart)..other than purchasing a new, used or re-manufactured Throttle Body (If it is even faulty)...I have not been able to source the Actuator itself separate. Even though it's held on with Clips or Screws. Interestingly, other Makes and Models using a "similar" Actuators do have replacements... 3) The two primary components to check consist of the Throttle Body Actuator (TBA), and the Accelerator Pedal Sensor (APS). As far as I know, the APS is where all the position sensing occurs, being relayed to the TBA. Verifying whether or not the Accelerator Pedal Sensor is potentially the culprit, as they do wear out, would help eliminate whether the TBA is the problem itself. Along with checking all connections between Pedal and Throttle Body. The Accelerator Pedal Sensor itself is available, and comes as a Replacement Assembly. They usually cost less than 150.00 USD..So it may be a Connection or your APS and not your TBA...

Mine was doing that and a change of my 70,000 mile plugs and wires fixed it!
Exactly what i needed to see. Doing mine today and hoping for a similar outcome!

How tight do you tighten the throttle body 4 bolts?
In case you didn't find out, it's 5.9lbs/ft!

No gasket??
there is a gasket
Oh it was a metal gasket
It was a laminated gasket. In this case it's condition was still re-usable.
