I know a lot of you are waiting for the SS American Star video, dont worry its coming, just taking longer than I expected. So in the meantime I finished off this one. A couple of things I never mentioned in the video: Her name 'ELINA' slowly faded from her bow revealing her old embossed name 'SEMIRAMIS' underneath. I sadly dont have any photographs of the wreck between 1997 and 2003 so I had to do a bit of guesswork as to her condition during that period. I also dont know the exact year of the superstructure fire, it might be 1999 but I dont know for sure. And not sure what happened to the starboard anchor, it doesnt appear in any early wreck photos, even the one from 1996 (its not the one lashed on deck as thats a spare). Thanks again for watching! :)
Can you do one for the LADY ERA in Port-cartier, Canada? It wrecked in 1976 just 500m from the beachfront and visible to thousands of tourist each year
seeing the entire ship just basically vanish within 9 years after staying relatively intact for so long will never not shock me incredible work as always my friend!
We have a simmilar incident ongoing on the coast of Cork at the moment. MV Alta washed up without a crew in 2020, and wasn't too far off from this ship in terms of size. Since then, she has already broken in too, makes constant groaning noises and really feels like she's on the verge of further collapse.
Very interesting, I think the Alta would make a good video. There's a video of the Elina/Semiramis here on youtube where someone swims through the openings in the hull and you hear the ship groaning as the swells pass through.
The name 'Elina' slowly faded from her bow over time revealing her old name 'Semiramis' underneath. Her name 'Semiramis' was embossed on her hull, when she was renamed 'Elina' in 1990, they just painted over it. Years later, after she was wrecked, this paint had worn off reavealing her original name underneath. I have many early photographs of the wreck that confirm this.
Why's there so many stories of towlines breaking? By now you'd think they'd make stronger towlines, or even attach 2 or 3 lines to a ship being towed. It's like the SS United States which is supposed to be towed out to sea and sank to make a reef. In one video I looked down in the comments and somebody said something to the extent of "Yeah they'll start towing it but then the ropes will break and the United States will run aground and be left to rot." Like if lines are breaking so much people are joking about/expecting it, then they probably need to do something about that. lol
Funnily enough my next Shipwreck video is on the American Star, at one time the United States' smaller fleetmate. And she too went ashore after the towline broke lol. Definitely happens a lot!
@@HFBmarine I know about the American Star. Once Titanic got me into looking up ship disasters, the American Star and Edmound Fitzgerald become pretty hard to ignore. Heck that Sleeping Sun song while used on other ships as well, is used so much for the American Star tribute videos it's kinda unofficially become the American's Star's song. lmao At least that ship is now the very first thing I think about when I hear it.
I noticed the same thing. It’s like “Hey! Let’s tow these ships with the thinnest ropes possible in a totally unexpected storm. I’m sure nothing bad could possibly happen.” It reeks of insurance scam, if you ask me.
I wish someone would make a video of a ship going to the bottom of the ocean and being colonized by sea life, sea growths, and slowly collapsing and desintigrating from corrosion.

It actually held much longer than I intended, especially with almost nothing supporting the superstructure. Incredible work Henry
meh nature is at work deconstructing her at her own pace
@ I’d like to mention the stern of as America. Barely a couple years, though the stern was at a certain angle.

incredible work as always my friend!
Interesting as to the power of the elements and the strength of the oceans. Good job!

This is why Ships last longer underwater, but there some exceptions like MS World Discoverer.
Graphics are looking pretty realistic
Props to the camera man for having such patience.
This animation is pure art, so touching to see this vessel fade away slowly and quite peacefully with this music ❤
Great graphics and illustrations on how this fine ship met its end. Would love to see more of this kind of content
Excellent video...well done!
I appreciate the detail of the new name washing away and showing the original underneath
Sad story - but great work!
Fantastic work Henry! It's interesting to see how a shipwreck gradually gets broken up by the sea over time.
Awesome animation!
Wow, nice vid dude ❤
Beautiful work, really interesting visualisation. Thank you !
excellent job !
I really thought it would last way longer than this. This is crazy, everything human made can vanish in 100 years...
this video appeared in my reccomendations. it's a very good video.
This is so sad seeing a true star fade away is like watching a loved one fade away from your life
Bro the miniature looks so real
Very good job bro!!
These episodes are amazing i hope you do more💯👍
Lovely animation❤
You should made a video about the timeline of the SS Niagara Scow
exelente trabajo
esperando el costa concordia
Muy bueno
Wow very nice video
interesting watching this in reverse, see a whole ship emerge
Cool
Would be interesting to look closer at the engine
Question if they could cut up the stern for scrap, How come they didn't cut up the rest of the ship on site?
You should consider doing the SS American star showcasing her deterioration on the sandbar in Fuerteventura.
Currently working on it, taking a lot longer than expected but should be a good one. 🙂
Awesome! Can’t wait to see it!
the seas took everything except the engine. rip o7
ironically it caught on fire too
So is there a possibility that the parts that were washed away by the ocean could be laying at the bottom somewhere further out?
not even steel can resist the unforgiving passage of time.
Если бы так все корабли самоуничтожались, то небвло бы необходимости их утилизировать. Прямо как в кислоте растворился. Фантастика.
Unstoppable power is the time
wow1996to2024😊😊
can we start the engine today😂
😢😢😢yo nasi el 2015😢😢del 18de marzo
tell mi ,how is it possible:same ship and 2 different names..today Elina, then Samiramis, then elina...something wrong happen

Me too
Not sure what happened
The ocean ate the ship oh don't worry I'm sure its just a few dents and can be repaired 😂😂😂😂😂😂
will you make a titanic one?
We never discovered the wreck of the Titanic until 1998 so if he does, It will be very very inaccurate

Ok but why does it have the same backstory as SS. America?? 😭😭😭
I think this video would be a lot more awesome if you actually tried to animate some of the collapse and didn't just jump from year to year.
I don't think that would be very easy to do😅
Weather or not that they are in water, How does stuff like that deteriorate like that?
Same thing happened to the SS America.
Titanic

Plsss Shipwreck Epanomi
So much pollution.
