I don't know if you cover this. But normal convention at least as I have learned is that the moment diagram is flipped. Positive downwards and negative upwards. Basically the idea that moment represents the displacement of the beam. So you flip the z-axis on the diagram. It is a bit more intuitive I find because then you know where to focus your steel for reinforcement in your concrete beams etc.
