Everyone here is worried about the low cost. I'm just worried about the cost to buy Freightliner parts from actual Freightliner shops. Just changing the oil on these trucks isn't cheap, that's for sure. Buying an oil filter for these trucks would be the same as a Freightliner 26/28-foot box truck. How much do you think that will cost you? And other parts are no different from what you buy for a regular Freightliner box truck. I say this because I have a lot of experience driving these, and I work as a box truck owner-operator of a 28-foot Freightliner. I can tell you that no parts or anything are cheap when it comes to fixing or changing out anything on a Freightliner. That's the catch with the low cost. They would make more money off of parts than what they sell the trucks for. You're a one-time buyer-buying a Freightliner is a one-time thing-but buying parts is forever until you get rid of it. And you can't sell it for more than the cost because you would say, "I spent a lot of money on this truck and all that." Then people wouldn't buy it for a high price, and now you're stuck with it. So there's a lot more to think about than just the price.
I remember when it was "White Freightliner". But then, again, I remember "Diamond T" and "REO Speedwagon". Caterpillar's diesel motor graders and crawlers had pony motors on them. It isn't easy growing older (80) but it sure is fun back. Thank God my Harley has an electric starter now.
Finally.... somebody had a brain fart and realized that a vast majority of truck drivers want just a plain Jane machine that can do what you want it to. We do NOT need all that electronic crap!!!
I worked on tractor trailers for 15 years and worked for a freightliner for 5 of them. Switched to the automotive side about 15 years ago. I definitely agree with the comment that asked about the $8000 dollar model. If this truck is that cheep...? Get ready.., because in the end. It's a f'ing dodge.
I loved my freightliner top kick western hauler. Back seat had a power fold out bed. Would haul goose necks or big trailers. Bumper pulls and the metallic hot pink looked good. Had near 400k miles when i sold it. Never had major failures. Just regular maintenance tlc and synthetic oil
The catch is that it's just a body and frame that are $8000 everything after that is the options package add-on you know things like the Steering wheel seats wheels tires The engine the transmission.....
No way you're going to drive off the lot for anywhere _near_ eight grand! "Would you like a set of wheels and tires with that? Do you want it painted...?"
If I want a decent freightliner, grab a day cab Cascadia, rip the fifth wheel off the frame and the trailer connection utilities, and install the bed off a old Ford F250 on the frame where the fifth wheel used to be.
If this was true, I’d buy one immediately! Drove a freight-liner fire apparatus for years, towing a 40 ft HazMat trailer! Never even felt it behind me, but the truck was magnificent!
Com`on! Seriously? You couldn't buy the frame that Freightliner sits on for $8,000.00. If you own one of those new Ford or GM trucks with that 10 speed transmission in it and it fails, you can't re-build it. You have to buy a new one at $12,000.00. Pray that you have a warranty on it.
I think that just about every brand name has somehow advertised an "$8,000" pickup. So far, the closest i have found is a bare bones truck, in the $25,000!
I love this truck already. But $8K seems impossible. I do not need a work truck, but weekend Home Depot run. I am not interested in paying ridiculous 100K for pickup trucks these days.
I want a pioneer!! But when it actually hits the market the price will up exponentially. And also hitting the market and they will be scarce with everybody and his dog wanting one!!
Yeah its a pipe dream for sure, but a nice one nonetheless. I would think that anyone who has driven a class 8 truck for a living would love to have smaller version to just to run aound town and do errands in just for shits and giggles
It did say starting at 8 grand. I looked it up and they have a rear wheel version and 4 wheel version. So once you add everything it'll be over 25 grand.
You said that top trim of F150 only 60K??? What age are you living???? Try 100K or more. Since you missed about $40K-50K, I will assume this truck min price is $50K, which sounds about right.
So I'll ask the question: does it come with hydrolic breaks, or air breaks? Because freightliner stayed using dish breaks, instead of drums, for its heavy commercial trucks, but they're still air powered.
The Freightliner Pioneer pickup truck is not actually priced at $8,000, but rather is much more expensive: Freightliner Pioneer pickup truck Price $256,000 plus
They said my 2009 Nissan Altima 2.5s could only seat 4 people. I have a center seat in the bench seat in the back, and I've managed to seat 5 people in there no problem. well, except for that one time when we ran out of passenger room and had to let 2 of my buddies ride in the trunk.
The answer is no. But, if you put it to work as an over the road commercial vehicle, yes. Just the tractor would require a class C or B. If pulling a trailer class A CDL on C,B,A for commercial. Otherwise, private vehicle including with trailer - NO
I would like to go to a Freightliner dealer and check out the sport pack with Diesel To pull my 5th wheel. I would consider bigger truck than I have now. Both of mine are show quality over 35 yrs old. Would love to hear whats on the agenda.
With everything I've seen, I would gladly get rid of my Silverado for this. If this is for real. I don't understand why they were comparing this to the Ford line only, Ford is garbage. Why not compare this to Chevy and RAM also.
It has to be a $8,000 option not the cost of the entire truck i had a fl70 box truck back in early 2000's and if i remember right i think i paid $89,000 for that ive owed others since and cant remember exactly

Sharp looking, but looks like low clearance off the ground.
I like the awd.

If this was true , That would be all you'd see on the road. Tires at two thousand dollars for that truck.
Plot twist: you have to buy the $120K cab first and then add on the $8000 pick up bed
Finally.... somebody had a brain fart and realized that a vast majority of truck drivers want just a plain Jane machine that can do what you want it to. We do NOT need all that electronic crap!!!

OK , I'm SOLD! I want one .
I don't know how they get by with false advertisement
Tesla started by getting away with false advertising of 1/2 off the price and twice the distance

Correction: $80,000.
When is the Release Date, what web address is featuring this product option??
Even if it comes in at $32k that would be what America needs.
Breaker breaker this here is the dream machine.

$8k. TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE. IF it ever comes out for that price SMH
This truck is not the pickup... this truck (the one they're showing)s a Freightliner M2. It's a medium duty truck that starts at $70,000. TRICKY HUH!
1 cylinder diesel with a wheel horse transmission.. 😮
I think that just about every brand name has somehow advertised an "$8,000" pickup. So far, the closest i have found is a bare bones truck, in the $25,000!
Why can buy 8,000 truck

Don't think you could buy the tires for that little.
8,000 down, 80,000 financed maybe.. before taxes, fees and registration
I want a pioneer!! But when it actually hits the market the price will up exponentially. And also hitting the market and they will be scarce with everybody and his dog wanting one!!
Hope it’s being built in the USA with mostly USA parts. We don’t need computer parts.
I'm still waiting for Scotty Kilmer's review on one.
Ill have one with a v6 engine, white, heat and air

For 8 grand you don't even buy the exhaust dpf system much less a diesel engine 😂😂
$8000 where can i get one
I love it! Everybody's gonna be drivin these
You can't buy a decent used truck for that price! If these trucks were available, you wouldn't see that price till it's at least 15 years old😢
It did say starting at 8 grand. I looked it up and they have a rear wheel version and 4 wheel version. So once you add everything it'll be over 25 grand.
Even @ 25k it's still cheaper than most base model pick up! I've had 4 rams wife 4 F150 all over 50k!

Since you missed about $40K-50K, I will assume this truck min price is $50K, which sounds about right.
Incredible" If so why buy a newer truck for well over $30,000 or $40.000 when you can get this for probably less than $20,000 with options included.
So I'll ask the question: does it come with hydrolic breaks, or air breaks? Because freightliner stayed using dish breaks, instead of drums, for its heavy commercial trucks, but they're still air powered.
