Thanks for sharing Joey. Great way to feed
Thanks for watching.
Thanks for the great videos Joey. You can also tip the bucket slightly to completely empty it.
I should have mentioned that. Thanks for watching.
Thanks for the video.
Thanks for watching.
I use that same feeding method Joey. Works great. Thanks for the video.
Thank you.
Great video Joey, thanks for sharing! Amazing how much syrup the bees can take down using these types of feeders.
Thank you. They can really take it down.
Any time I speak with a beekeeper association, no matter the topic, the question of feeding invariably comes up during Q&A. Explaining entrance, hive top, and frame feeders is simple. Beginner beekeepers easily understand how they work. But boy do I have trouble conveying how this design of open feeders works. I finally figured I should just carry one with me every time I speak. 😂 Happy Beekeeping 🐝
I know what you mean. You just about have to bring almost one of everything to those meetings. lol
I remember making these feeder buckets years ago, made a video on it as well, but these days it just to much work. I think this type of feeder, especially for an open feeder, is a great way to feed bees, and with the gamma screw lids, a lot simpler as well. God's peace Joey.
Nice feeder. We were 25% thru before we got started!😊
Thanks for watching. Have a happy Sunday.
Thanks for the video, Joey! I'm going to prepare a few buckets like this for feeding in the spring, and next fall!
I hope they do well for you.
Your getting good at doing your videos. Congratulations and thanks
Thank you for the kind words.
Thanks Joey.👍
I want to make me a 2nd one I like to run that at that same time I open tub feed. they hit the tub hard the 1st 2days and then take the bucket feeder over after that. I think it helped my bees think they had a light trickle flow, sure cut down on robbing and I think it helped keep brood production going on a bit longer.
I really like the feeder buckets best, the totes work great if you need to get the feed on them fast.
Thanks Joey
Thanks for watching.
I've made those in the past but they seem to go bad so I'm just using totes with 2 in. holes drilled in sides. Put top and pine straw on top of feed and watch the bees work. What ever works for you with what you got.Totes were 5 bucks at D.G. on sale for 18 gal. Totes. Also with a little work you can make a hive butler out of them so watch for the sale paper.Hive butlers are 100 bucks i bought 2 and love them but at time I was pressed for time for me making them.
Yeah the totes I made work well and allow the bees to take the sugar water fast. When not in use they need to be stored in a good dry room where it is not too hot or they will get brittle.
Joey. The bucket feeders, do many bees die with that setup?
Very few, if any.
Joey, I dont do open feeding. I've been thinking about it. Maybe I missed it but how far from the hives are you setting the feeders. -Darren from PA
I put them around a hundred yards away.
I put tea tree essential oils in all my feed for gut health.
Thanks for the info.
