On Thursday mornings, Walker used to come by Kuster Co., where I worked and drink coffee with my boss, Don Kuster Sr., the other guys in the coffee group were Bill Stroppe, Parnelli Jones and Carol Shelby. Don Sr. and Parnelli made a $1 bet, over Don Sr. saying we could build a competitve 1 man dune buggy weighing 500 lbs. Don Sr. had our companies R&D guys fabricate it from the ground up but lost the bet by 100 lbs. Walker actually test drove it for us, at least once and said it was quick.
